- Battered for championing Cook County's sales tax increase and for hiring friends and relatives, Board President Todd Stroger heads into the election season with a strikingly low job-approval rating and thin support from voters, a Tribune/WGN poll has found.
Only 1 in 10 Cook County voters approve of the job he is doing, and just as few want to see him re-elected following a first term marked by tax and hiring controversies, the poll found.
The numbers are lower than the 13 percent Gov. Rod Blagojevich had just months before his December arrest on federal corruption charges.
10% approval? As a reader pointed out, why the hell are his numbers so high? And at this rate, is the party even going to run him for office? An internal challenge is all but certain lest the Board presidency fall into Republican hands.

Why would anyone need to conduct a smear campaign against Urkle? He has smeared himself with his utter mismanagement of County government, money grubbing tax hikes, cronyism and nepotism... I say good riddance to him on election day!

I didn't write the inital post. I don't work on the watch in the 10th dist. I don't know the commander, and I don't have any statistics on thier manpower, or thier backlogs.
It dosen't really matter. The point of this post, is to question where the commenter gets the nerve to attack a policeman, who is concerned for his/her saftey.
This has been an exceptionally difficult year for the CPD, and if getting on this blog and posting his gripe makes this guy sleep better at night- let him do it. It's just words on a screen, man. It dosen't mean shit. To call the guy, who's just venting his frustration, a "SACKLESS WHINY PUNK BITCH" seems a little bit overkill.
Maybe something can be done about the manpower situation in 10(if there is one). Or maybe there isn't; I don't know. I do know that letting off a little steam is good for the soul. So let the guy vent. He isn't hurting you.

Odd Todd just smirked (with that stupid Stroger grin) at the news and replied those were a couple of bad number polls just out to get him.
He must be smoking some heavy crack, because the people would like to send him to jail for all his abuses with our dollars and wasteful spending.
They said Blago's lowest approval rating was higher than Toddler's. The City Council voted 49-0 to back the Olympic bid and put the taxpayers on the hook for the cost overruns. Vote everyone of these assholes out the next election. EVERY ONE OF THEM NEED TO GO. This state needs a political enema. Who was missing from the vote yesterday?
I grew up in Vito Marzullo's ward - a name that old timers will remember. We were all blue dog democrats in the 25th Ward and supported the democratic party, period. For all of the problems innate with the political regime of that time, there was not the constant turning to the tax payer for bailouts and stimulus monies, etc.
Well, this is no longer the democratic party from back then who had the working guy/gal in mind. Constantly going to the public and asking them to open their wallets was unacceptable.
Not today! They don't think twice about not only neglecting to ask you about increasing your taxes, they are going to do it any way without your input.

Every major office, municipal and county governments are run by democratic politicians who go unchecked. One party rule has got to stop. In the case of Chicago, the King known as "da mayor" has got to be overthroned, along with his band of 50 thieves. There is no oppostion to these crooks and they not only know it, they love it and are trying to get as much as they can before the tax payer revolts.
There is no way, NO WAY, that the insurance for 2016 will cover the olympics. That means the democrats put all of us on the hook for the bill. The companies hired to do build the olympics should Chicago win, will be the same ones scamming the city now with huge cost overruns and kickbacks.
DO NOT VOTE FOR THESE FOOLS WHO COMPLETELY DISREGARD THE WILL OF THE ELECTORATE.
I for one am tired of paying for those who do not pull their own weight. The social welfare system needs to be greatly pruned and indepently run by citizen watchdog groups. Infrastructure spending has to be realistic and in-tune with actual costs, not inflated numbers. I do not like seeing companies getting rich on my tax dollars.
Abraham Lincoln would lament our generation for we are not "a government of the people, by the people and for the people."
Enough of the professional politicians!!! Let the people govern by electing new, fresh representatives who are not lawyers and life long politicians, but honest men and women who have had to work for a living.

Therefore I have decided in the coming election cycle I shall only vote for those who are not currently serving in elected office!

Other than the fools and theives we have for Aldermen, and a few on TV I can't find one citizen here who thinks he is doing a good job.
That includes a lot of ordinary citizens. So the time is getting right for the revolution, for getting our city back, and our country.

I don't know what good it will do to vote for a candidate other than Stroger. I have come to believe that NO CANDIDATE is worthy of my vote. Obviously there are some that are less worthy than others, and the Toddster is definitely among them!

Can't wait for the election. DemocRATic challengers to Erkel aren't any better than he is. (D. Davis, D. Brown, etc) It probably won't matter who the DemocRATic nominee is, the taxpaying voters seem to finally have a fire lit under their asses and can start cleaning house. The people appear to be waking up, their getting wise to the bullshit, tired of the politicians that are self serving and corrupt, seeing the new way of selling their office, not for the bags of cash, as in the old days, but real estate deals that are hidden with bribes or family members getting huge salaried jobs that never existed before or for some, a no show job.
Maybe finally seeing that political parties may be nothing more then a talking point, that when people start looking hard enough they see that it is just self serving power, one that throws a few bones towards folks and then gives financial windfalls to select friends or associates. I can't see too many politicians out there that wouldn't ask "what’s in it for me", or that wouldn't jump at the chance to accept and allow a family member to take a $300K a year salary to sharpen pencils...
I think we may have come to a point in time where people have been pushed to the point where they aren't going to ask who they should vote for, their going to see who they shouldn't vote for, that is when I believe that maybe we can purge those assholes from their arrogance and their political office.
