- how many casualties are you willing to accept?
- how many structure fires and fire deaths?
- how many grandmothers, grandfathers and shooting victims are you willing to have die in the street?
- how much property crime and damage are you willing to endure?
You give us a number and we'll see if we can't balance it out. Maybe you can have Jesse and Phleger and even Sharpton come up with a number and negotiate it with the gangs. Maybe Richie can license thieves and collect a percentage? We mean in the open, not in the shadows like today.

Not only are they not hiring any police making it extremely dangerous out there for us, they also aren't promoting either. There's no hope. There was always at least the hope that if you studied hard and scored well you would get a promotion to Det or Sgt. But now, even that's not happening. It makes for a very unhappy workforce when you realize that you are going no where, even if you scored high.
There's no motivation anymore. You work hard, you get CR's, sued, etc. You can't even get a promotion anymore. So what's the incentive to do anything for these ungreatful citizens that don't even want to give us a contract and are trying to take away our pensions?
I can't believe any city would want to make enemies with their police dep't. It makes no sense. If there's one dep't out of all of them you should try to keep happy, it should be the police.
Because when the police stop caring about the citizens that's when shit really starts hitting the fan. As you can see, that's getting very close to happening.
I mean, WTF!! Give us a damn contract already. It's almost 3 years now.
From my estimates 75% of the dept is fed up and isn't doing anything more than just what is required of them. That means all those proactive street stops and finding drugs and guns and taking them off the street is not happening anymore.
Ask any policeman whose been around for at least 10 years and they'll all tell you that the police out there today aren't doing sh*t compared to how we used to police.
You whiny bitchy citizens are getting what you wanted and little by little it's going to start effecting you. Getting things stolen hear, robbed there. But instead of us trying to prevent it in the first place, we'll gladly give you that report and drive away.

New York covers 305 Square Miles for 5 Boroughs, has a population of 8.3 million and has 51 Aldercreatures... I mean City Council Members with a salary of $112,000. Los Angeles has 15 Council Members with a big salary of $178,000 and covers 498 Square miles with a 3.8 million population. City has 50 Aldermen (as we know) with 234 square miles, 2.8 million people and a $110,000 salary.
It seem like the aldermen all want to get into the act now. Aldercreature Cardenas does not want us to give us a decent raise and says the city council will reject our pay raise, that is if we get one. Who in their right mind would do any police work. Hello FOP time for another act of Defiance, stop letting these crooked politicians push us around. You guys were voted in to help us not sit on your hands, where are all the promises you made to get to that office,you guys are no better than the Aldercreatures your DISGUSTING. Hope everyone reads todays scum times. Now this lightweight alderman from one of the most violent wards in the city (12th) warns that the city council wont vote to accept any arbitration award that is "double digit". Please lets get active and work against these jagoffs.
Who is watching these alderman to see if there working 40 hours a week.Do they have GPS? Them giving up a day,is like business as usual.Theyll make it up somewhere on our dime. And for those of us who live in the 41st ward ,we need to really think of a different alderman next time around.I went to talk to the alderman and he said I cant get nothing from the city Im the only republican.We need a aggressive alderman thats gonna fight 4 the police.How many times have u called the police on a suspiscious person, 016 just rolled by.These 016th district guys should be rotated in and out of 016,if they wanna make the same pay as us,in the ghetto.And these people permantly assigned to the desk and lockup should be on a different scale.Its not right.They get no cr#s or lawsuits ,but r checks r the same.Time 4 a a change.Its like an airline pilot and a stewardess all making the same money, they need to make different pay scales for everything. its silly. Hey Ed I know that you are reading this because all you alderman do, especially when it is about you. I have a real good idea of what we can do about city services. Why don't we allocate police & fire protection according to the amount of property taxes that is payed by the citizens of that community. The one that pay the most will recieve the most. My block probably pays more in taxes then your whole comunity combine, so we should be entitled to have a cop positioned on every corner. We should also have a FH every 4 blocks. You on the other hand should have about 1/2 a cop for 1 square mile. We will give you Penny the Commander. And 1 fire person.
By the way Ed, wasn't it you that needed to be woke up and helped from your house in the middle of the night when your next door neighbors hood was on fire? Just think if that FH wasn't there to help get you out. Or if they had less men assigned there because of cuts and the manpower there was needed for something else?
Any Alderman that is willing to cut manpower to the CFD or CPD should have the FH closest to them closed and the beat car that protects thier block eliminated.

I agree, Doherty is worthless. I live in the 41st myself (not a cop), and getting anything done through that lush is impossible. Where is all the money going? I dunno, but there sure are some shady people walking around our neighborhood now.
What are the qualifications to get elected? I mean, besides the votes..how does one get on the ballot? I'll run. I dunno how much good it'll do, since I'll be 1 of 50 who wants less taxes, CCW, and a raise for the police.

MN57 is simply monitor 57 at work station pcts57, a call taking position at 911. The person was typing messages on the command line off of that monitor which is just a shared monitor to the call taking position. That particular position has 3 monitors as opposed to 2 monitors because it is set up as a supervisor position, pcts [police call taker supervisor] console 57.

Hey numbnuts...that happens in EVERY district! There are gogs everywhere. If you don't like the way we do things in 016, come help out. I will put my #'s up with yours any day of the week. If you work in the ghetto as you say, then you should have more narcotics arrests than me. I'll bet that I have more part 1 arrests than you do. Legit part 1's. Burglars, theft's (not shoplifters), robberies. Anyone can get a rock or a bag in the ghetto, please by all means, come to 016 and show us how its done. There are good police officers EVERYWHERE ! there are LAZY police officers everywhere also! I still do work hard(not as hard as I did with a contract), and the good people in 016 do appreciate us and deserve the extra effort. Most of those in 016 are there on bids, after attaining enough seniority to finally ESCAPE that ghetto assignment. No one should go there without having done their time elsewhere, but once you've put in your time, doing your last few years in 016 sounds like a very good plan. Your knees are bad from going over fences in 011, your shoulder was torn up rolling in broken glass with a hype in 015... yeah, you should be able to slide into 016 with your twenty years or more already in your back pocket.
Your Republican alderman? Sure, everyone bitches and says 'don't vote for any Democrat', but once a republican is voted in, did you really think he was going to be welcomed with open arms and given the key to the city? Suck it up.
Privatize the desk at HQ? Oh, that'll make it even easier for the sworn to push the desk people around. As it is, no one pays enough attention to the few directions or restrictions that are dictated by the parking guy or the desk people. I'd vote to put some light duty, gunshot victim p.o. in that spot, but YOU're advocating giving away yet ANOTHER police officer position.

Oh, and a little civics lesson. The alderman position is a part-time position. They aren't required to work forty hours a week, so you go follow them around.

Its not so much about making enemies.
The city is not in real good stead with much of the citizenry, and the PD, fairly or not, is not well thought of by many of the people it purports to serve.
I don't pretend to have a fix for that problem, but my suspicion is that the average citizen thinks less of the CPD every time he gets another parking ticket to support Daley's avarice. it does not even matter whether the ticket is issued by a cop or not.
With crime on the increase, our leaders do not need to nor should engage in a fight with the police.
The CPD and CFD deserve contracts and raises, the Aldermen do not.
The video on YouTube, JoeBlow849 shows Cong Danny Davis calling in the CPD to remove a reporter who probably thought he had a "scoop" and some pull with the bros.
Instead the bros called the CPD and behaved as total jackass uncle toms and like they had GOT CAUGHT SELLING OUT as the reporter remarked.

If we recall correctly, the average life expectancy for Police Officers is around 10 to 15 years LESS than our non Police peers. Where we come from, ANY MAN who raises his hand without justification to another would have that same hand fed to him in one bite.
We even recall some posts by old timers who related some of shortshanks childhood shennanigans that presage the heartless monster he would become... Things like riding in the mayoral limousine of RMD I on the way to school during winter months and throwing water balloons at the regular kids walking to school. An inconsiderate, ungracious and loutish child who grew up to be an inconsiderate, ungracious, loutish and craven less than a man who seemingly by GOD's good humor or extreme ire has managed to seize the reins of power in this city and is wreaking a more than peculiar havoc... Especially in the lives of those sworn to protect.
Again we point out that CPD has purposely been painted as the enemy by shortshanks... Classic use of the media as a propaganda organ. When a group of people are constantly demeaned, disrespected and belittled and every mistep old and new is played out over and again; that group begins to be viewed by the masses as somehow less than human. Then that group can be liquidated/exterminated or otherwise destroyed and there will be no outcry of outrage from the masses over this. The people will smugly say, "oh well, they brought their fate upon themselves." Note what happened in Nazi Germany... The parallels are there in vivid color.
To the REAL citizens of Chicago, we say that we are disappointed that so many of you have succumbed to the mayor's campaign of insane and unreasoning hatred of your Police Department. A lot of you know this is way beyond fiscal stewardship as he claims. How is it that all that financially ails this city can be balanced on the backs of those least responsible for it? yet so many have proven just as hollow and weak minded as the alderthieves (a redundant, borderline classless yet so appropriate title) who pledged their allegiance to a tyrannical, ill-formed less than a man for their souls and a bit of filthy lucre.

Why the hell don't you media guys point out the mismanagment by this administration. Like selling the meters at a Billion dollar loss to tax payers, buying Reese hospital for a misguided Olympic bid, etc.
We have had no raise in almost two and a half years, that's a savings right there, even with back pay the city had that money at their disposal fir that time.

Hmmmm, if they force me to take unpaid furlough days, does that trump time on the medical, that is, if I go one extended medical, can they remove me from the medical to put me in daley's no-pay furlough day?
I am doing everything I can for this city because my mayor asked me and I believe him because he is the greatest mayor ever since his father. Please use some more vaseline and go a little slower when you stick it in because I am not used to getting it all at once. And give me the goddamned fucking courtesy of a reach around, will you? There that's it, a little at a time now, mmmmm good.

What are the boundaries for Dick Head Ed's Ward? Sounds like we need a ticket blitz in that area and how about a TRU mission for once that means something? How about we fill the station with legit TVB's (state violations only)all night long so their are no cars available! That might get the attention of Ed's residents!

Well only you west siders can see to it that it is done. I say do it. Also make sure that on Sunday you write evey ticket posible at the churches. Becaus the city doesn't collect on those either.
