War!
Ed Smith voted himself a 6% pay raise. Ed Smith voted his staff a 5% pay raise. Ed Smith voted for the teachers to get a pay raise. Ed Smith wants to take money out of your pocket and food out of your children's mouths to pay for Richie Daley's years of financial mismanagement. He also belittles the job CPD (and CFD) does day in and day out in while shorthanded and while getting the short end of the stick each and every day. Ed Smith is symptomatic of everything that is wrong with Chicago politics in general.
It's about time Ed Smith joined the ranks of Illinois' 10.1% unemployed, don't you think?
Someone asked if the SCC blog could initiate some sort of effort to recall or unseat aldermanic candidates. We had some research done and this is the result:
It's about time Ed Smith joined the ranks of Illinois' 10.1% unemployed, don't you think?
Someone asked if the SCC blog could initiate some sort of effort to recall or unseat aldermanic candidates. We had some research done and this is the result:
- An Advisory Referendum can be placed on the ballot for the February 2010 election if a total number of signatures equaling 11% of the previous general election totals can be gathered in a 90 day period preceding the filing deadline.
Unfortunately, the deadline is 16 November. That leaves just about 3 weeks to collect, notarize, bind and file the required number of signatures. The magic number?
- 121,660 signatures
That's a lot of signatures for an advisory referendum. But it's doable, and here's the first step:
Reduce Alderman Petition 2009
And here's what has to be overcome:
Reduce Alderman Petition 2009
And here's what has to be overcome:
- 10,000 cops? If everyone did a sheet, that's 100,000 signatures. Cops being cops though, figure on less than 50% participation. That means everyone who did contribute would have to get 2 or 3 sheets.
- 2,400 firefighters? That would be another 24,000 signatures. Again, the under 50% participation though would mean 3 sheets per participating firefighter.
- Other unhappy city dwellers and regular people visiting the site might be able to push another few thousand signatures. The Machine would react badly to this initiative, so estimate double the number of signatures to survive the inevitable challenges.
- You couldn't circulate these at work, you couldn't mail them around via Department mail, and to be sure of not getting duplicate signatures, you'd have to make sure you got all the signatures from people unassociated with the Department - it would have to be friends, neighbors, acquaintances outside of work.
And that's not even counting the fact that a point person is needed, someone willing to step up and collect these things, bind them, have them notarized and deliver them in person before 16 November. It's a big job. But the payoff in terms of shaking the political establishment would be monstrous.

I'm in. Scc if u get this going, I will give. U my email to give to the point person. My dad is a CFD and I'm sure we can count him in.
I'm sorry, I just got so excited, I failed to type in English.
Correction: my dad is not "a" CFD, I meant my dad us CFD. I'm not sure if that's English either tho.
Oh well....

SCC you are incredible. That was some research you did. Problem is...there could be retaliation if any city employee signs his or her name.
Is it binding if it gets on ballot?
Each sheet needs to be signed by the person circulating the sheet. Not necessarily the point person.
We're in. Cant be the collector. Can have family and friends bring petitions to their jobs. Anyone got the time to be a collector?
I just printed 4 of them. I'll have them signed by tomorrow!
that would never happen, but some how new york is able to get by with only having 25 alderman and they have over 8 million in their city- lets redo the wards when jody rearranges the beats
Well, let's get to work. Time's a wastin'.
Let's do it!
Bout time these MF'ers learn not TO F WITH US!!!!!!
Can some one pull Ed Smith's voting record?
There has to be something black and white that he tried to reduce police services to tax payers.
Be nice to go door-to-door with soem ammo!
while we are at it......
Hoffamn for Senate
We could use some clout.
I'm telling you if we flood his office as vol's we will at the best get a US Sen that owes us, and at least learn a thing or 2 about how to campaign......
SCC there are WAY more city departments that are FED up (nice pun eh?)with city leadership and budget woes. Without a doubt Streets and San would have a lot of guys and girls...especially FORMER employees....that would love to see 25 aldermen bounced! Maybe wecould get a former employee that still is feeling the sting to step up and run this thing!
If it's not done this time, then start earlier next election.
50% copper participation is VERY generous!
After we have them signed, where do we send them? Is there a address, we can mail them to?
I'm a southsider from Beverly. I'm IOD right now. Please give me something to do. Plus my girlfriend is on the border of 025 and 017. I've got a big group to get at.
OT. Another homerun by Kass, I'd love to have seen shanks when it was read to him.
If anyone has seen the movie The Right Stuff there is a scene where VP Lyndon Johnson wants to meet with John Glenn's wife. She doesn't want to meet with him, Johnson is told this and the camera cuts to the back of Johnson's limo with Johnson throwing a tantrum, hitting the seat with his fist, yelling, and causing the parked limo to rock. That is how I picture shortshanks after a Kass column.
Keep up the good work John!

Some parents are demanding CPS reopen carver military academy as a 'general high school' for Altgeld gargens students to stop the violence."

A lot of effort for something that is advisory.
What's the record for the most event numbers generated by a po in one day?
Everyone please go to
saynotoacorn.com
and sign the petition to stop the funding of this corrupt organization.
I think you will find that getting signatures for a referendum is a whole lot hardr than you are thinking.
Experience across the country with these things shows that it almost always fails unless professional signature getters are used.
Off topic: read here where another poster stated that WEISel/Masters, Rambo Ray et al were allowed a PRIVATE FITNESS EXAM recently at the Academy. One has to ask: Was an Inspector there to monitor that the results were accurate, as they are required when the unclouted take the annual test? Inquiring minds want to know.
I don't have a problem with the executive bitches having a private exam session. When you're as disliked as those folks are, it's best to simply isolate yourself among your own...and it has served Weis so well up to now.
Can we get ACORN to help?
Holy shit--someone is finally talking about this in a constructive way.
50 Aldermen is 25-35 too many. We need this insanity to end.
I would be more than willing to give up the sleaze ball that rules my ward.
I have a feeling that plenty of city workers would take up the challenge. And, the ex-city workers have nothing to lose and certainly have plenty of built up anger over not having a job in the worst ecconomy since the 1920's.
How about the FOP run full page adds with the form in both newspapers???
o god, please let this work
Count me in! I'm sick of this shit!
Good luck, I think the percentage of coppers who'd get off their asses, and go door to door to circulate any kind of a petition would be somewhere around zero per cent.
John Kass it's your time to shine. Help!
SCC I will try to get some names however in this over tax burdened society my non-police friends and neighbors see the police as ticket writing tax collectors.
You do know that advisory referendums don't mean shit. Kinda like a vote of no confidence. It will be roundly ignored.
Add another line: Should the City get rid of Weis?
"No Justice, No Peace. No idiot Weis"
The longer this city and county fester in political corruption, the greater the likelihood that the backlash by outraged, law-abiding citizens will be violent.
When it comes to the big fish, the feds will do nothing.
Get a life u either have CLOUT or u dont!
I agree 100% with you SCC. Premission is sought to publish this matter on my blog, with credit given to SCC.
After Democratic politicians, apathy is our worst enemy. Even the Republicans win no prizes. What will it take to awaken the sleeping lions?
Problem is this happened just before Harold was elected Mayor. Word got out to put term limits on ballot back them. So the regular democratic party by law loaded the ballot with phoney laws to fill ballot which is only allowed 3 laws at an election and the city council dose not need signatures only voice vote by majority.
knock your socks off Shaved. the more the merrier
Reducing the number of alderman will do nothing for tthe budget. The remaining 25 will need to double thier staff to deal with citizens and they will claim the job has become full time and would require a fulltime paycheck rather than the 100K partime check. So no budget savings. But coupled with a petition requiring a special election 90 days after a aldermanic vacancy might reduce the mayoral clout and actually have an impact on the 13 votes required to pass a new city law.
Where do I sign?
Perhaps John "Northside" Northen could lead charge for CPD and Lt. McMahon (retired)for CFD.
I say pull out all of the Police and Fire manpower out of Ed Smith ward!
Then we'll really see the inmates run the mental ward!
What the Alderman used to do can now be done with a phone call to 311 by the average citizens!
It's time to cut the number of alderman in half now!
I also believe that 25 Alderman may be too many, but at least that number matches the number of police districts in this city!
I would rather see one for term limits on the mayor and alderman or removing campaign funds and have the government/people provide funds to all candidates equally during an election. This would equal no more contributions to campaign funds and reduce corruption. The proposed referendum just puts more power = corruption in to fewer hands.
scumbag smiff needs to worry more about the condition of his ward and not what police and fire department members are paid.... scumbag smiff is a certified police hater and will always complain about the police until he is dead.... scumbag smiff's ward is the reason we need a highly paid and large police department, to deal with peace loving friendly west siders......
Just saw on the news, dozens of people lined up at the county building with stacks of these sort of petitions for folks to get on the ballot to run for various elective offices.
Could it be too late?
Ed Smith is a criminal, and a jerk. The dope boys in 011 seem to know him all too well. Wonder why that is?????? And he thinks every PO works for him personally. Wonder if he ever put a city sticker on his car?
SCC-
While I believe this is a great idea, you should be a little more candid with your readers. This would only require that an advisory vote (referendum) be on the ballot. The results of the referendum would be only that, advisory, and would probably be ignored. It is a step in the right direction, but it is alot of work for very little payback. Many of you want to involve the FOP in this, but I really don't think that would be appropriate. Remember that they represent all P.O.'s, and I am sure that there are more than a few that would be against this.
By the way, you said that your could not circulate these at work. I may be behind the times, but I don't see why not. As long as it does not interfere with your duties. In years gone by, I signed and circulated a petition for Jane Byrne, and did not keep it a secret. Hell, most of the then bosses signed it.
"You do know that advisory referendums don't mean shit. Kinda like a vote of no confidence. It will be roundly ignored.
10/26/2009 07:55:00 AM"
ignored by whom?
by the public?
by the media?
by the fed up taxpayers?
What we need 2 do is get a copper elected into office and when he or she runs back them 100%
How about the FOP run full page adds with the form in both newspapers???
You got to be fuckin kidding me. FOP will not do a damn thing but try to find out who is behind this to report it back to daley! I say hit them and hit them fuckin hard!
FUCK FOP
Ha Ha ED... We comin fo yo ass! I bet ed be scared as shit right about now!
Why do you let an alderman get under your skin? Let him say what he wants. A recall ballot will never take off. I would suggest a public camnpaign by the FOP and others to pare down the number of alderman. If 20-25 of them lose their jobs that would be revenge enough.
(OT) Now the suntimes in their editorial is recommending daley to cut more employees INCLUDING POLICE AND FIRE! I know daley owns the suntimes and all the reporters who are scared to report the truth but now the paper wants the public killed as well!
Pay some teenage kid a few bucks to go door to door through the neighborhood for signatures!
Is there any reason an online petition can't be used?
An online petition would be so much more likely to achieve the required number of signatures. It would also give teeth to a Kass column because readers could be directed where to easily take action to achieve the goal. Without an online petition, how would Kass readers (or any other Chicagoans who hear of the cause) be able to help easily?
How about telling those dirty little secrets that many of us P.O's have observed politicians and some media types commit, but failed to act on because of repurcussions.
Finally someone is listening to Ben Jarvosky of the Reader Newspaper. Sunday morning on FOX 32, Dana Planko in his editorial at the end of the newscast mentioned the City of Chicago's 160 TIF districts and the mass of wealth in these funds. It is projected this year alone (technically 2008) to rape the city of $583 million dollars. This is the exactly a 6% increase of $550 million from 2007. These are our tax dollars that should be appropriated into the Schools, Park districts, Police and Fire etc...
Wednesday night on WTTW on Chicago Tonight, A panel member from the Municipal planning commission stated that in Daley's 2010 budget address that 2 TIF district were being deleted and a total of $8 million dollars is being freed up and going back into the general fund. So let’s do the math. 2 TIF districts’ equal $8 million and the other 162 equal $575 million. These funds have generated $ 3.7 billion that’s a Billion with a B, since 2004.
You can receive all the information at the website of David Orr, Cook County Clerk, under TIF's. Everything you need to know is all on 1 website. Except, and there is always an "Except", the Truth. There should be no budget shortfall, no underfunded Pension Obligations and or new or higher taxes. Shorthshanks has been cut off at the knees and now his kingdom has come undone. Hey, Pension Board please explain to me again, How is the Tax Levy we propose to the City Budget and Management Department calculated and then paid, BEFORE or AFTER all, and I mean All, Estimated Assessed Values (EAV on your tax bill) of ALL city Property values. I'm being sarcastic here but I bet they say it has nothing to do with EAV. Side note they are LYING! Not because they are trying to hide something. They don’t just honestly don’t know how the system truly works. NO ONE DOES. Not even the ALDERCREATURES.
To find out more read Ben Javorsky at the READER website. He has at least 25 articles on the subject.
QUIT BEING SHEEP. SHEPARDING is a much better position. Attend Union meetings and call and question the Pension Board. Remember they keep saying" WE WORK FOR YOU."
Then visit secondcitycop.blog and get the petitions too reduce the number of alderman. The time is NOW to make real change. Not the Phony Change career politicians are implying.

Come on FOP. Time to step up to the plate. You can at least do this since again we are going to arbitration with this contract. HINT HINT: When this contract is finally settled by the arbitrator, go to arbitration again immediately because the contract that was just settled will soon expire!

Time to strap on a pair and quit acting like sheep, not just in this instance, but when you vote for other corrupt self serving assholes that call themselves politicians...
Nice start SCC, let me know when to break out the Torches and Pitchforks...
Go to the unemployment offices with the petitions. You might also want to try the courthouses and lockups where pissed off inmates are being released!
I don't know if you younger officers are familiar with Harry Aleman, the only outfit member ever to be convicted of murder in the history of the city of Chicago or the county. He was a vicious hitman who's first trial was fixed by Bob Cooley. Judge Frank Wilson a formerly honest but alcoholic judge committed suicide when he heard the feds had Cooley wired up. Aleman was finally convicted and the feds knew he had committed up to twenty hits, in fact had his own cousin, Cruz, hit after his conviction. The feds moved Aleman to an Illinois penitentiary to be closer to his family and they won't move Cozzi. What does that tell you about J-Fed, Daley and Burke.

SCC,
What about those Tea Party Republicans, they've been seeking our support (posted in comments a few weeks ago...) and we need an external point of contact with a voting bloc to get it rolling. It might be just the alliance we need.

Fun!
WHY is it that we have no limits on the terms that the elected officials (Aldermen, Mayor)serve??
This would be a great place to start to end all the B.S.
(ot) who is the latest exempt going through a small chicago airport carrying ammo? She wanted everyone TSA to hurry up I am in a hurry! Another 1 if it was a blue shirt WWJD?
I am currently an unemployed fan of this blog and would be willing to help. I am ready, will keep reading to see if there is a point person. Would be great as someone suggested if this was picked up by somebody in the media such as John Kass.

Facebook elected Obama. So there ya go.
I'll get the guys at work. Where do we take them to?
I'm not a cop, can I still help?
I had a little debate with an inlaw who is a retired exempt. He said "If these guy's got a decent contract next week do you think they are gonna actually work harder"? I said I dont know, but I do know if they keep getting fucked they will do even less. We didnt talk much after that.
Im in. I'm CFD and start my furlough next week. I will spend alot of time standing at gas stations getting petitions signed. I've never wanted something so bad in my life. Way to go SCC.........
Unfortunately, I like practically everyone on the CPD has to hide behind the veil of anonymity.....but I would sign a petition if given one.
It will take some 30+ year beat cop on mids to get this started. If one leads, I'll follow.
I'll stand in front of F$@@^^& Jewel for Gods sake... Have people sign after they buy their girl scout cookies.
this is something the union should be doing, lets see if they have the balls to step up to the plate!!
if the president of the F.O.P. doesn't publicly support this, then we have NO chance in hell. This thing would have to be on T.V. news for us to get public support. It would require telling the general public just how much money they would save on twenty - five alderman being able to run the city.
DOES THE UNION HAVE THE BALL'S???
**STEP UP - MARK DONAHUE, CAN YOU MAKE THIS HAPPEN. WE HAVE LAWYERS PAID WITH UNION DUES MONEY THAT SHOULD KNOW HOW, AND WHAT WE NEED TO DO, TO GET THIS DONE.
AS ALWAYS, WE NEED THE P.O.'S TO GET OUT THEIR AND DO IT!!!!
THE DOG ASS COPPERS NEED TO SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH THE NEGATIVE ATTITUDE AND DO SOMETHING, OTHERWISE, IF WE DON'T STAND UP AND TAKE ACTION, THAN SHUT THE FUCK UP, AND TAKE WHAT THE CITY GIVES YOU!
IT'S TIME TO DECIDE? I'M FOR FIGHTING ALL THE WAY!!
W.GODINEZ-013 DIST.
SCC, PLEASE print some facts, statistics, etc.... or even an entire speech that I can use to inform people that we have WAY too many alderman. It would be great if there was something printed that we could memorize
A bit off topic But
Paul Vallas told WWL-TV reporter Paul Murphy for this story that Universal Placement International and its owner, Lourdes Navarro, were awarded a $47500
It gets very interesting very quick.
Laws broken??
I'll do more than one sheet. I know a few hundred people that will sign. My husband is a CPD & we purchased a property in his district & when we were about to sell, Mr. Smith stepped in & advised the seller not to buy because he had plans to take over our property. We called the city & he had no approval for any project in the area. Two years past & he keeps stopping our sales. Now I found out that he's messing with us because the owners are CPD's. We're about to lose our property because he continues to mess with us. He is trying to change our zonning. Our taxes magically tripled. And finally I got a call yesterday from my last buyer that he spoke to wonderful Mr. Smith, that he will not let them build anything in our property. His exact words were, "Don't even bother buying that piece of property. I will not let you build anything on it." IS THIS PERSONAL OR WHAT? Only corrupted city leaders use their power for personal gain. I am going to make sure all my sheets are properly done & taken to the right place, begining NOW!
I work in this 'bozo' Ed Smith's ward. I nearly died in this bozo's ward saving his residents. I have injuries that will never heal fighting fires in his ward protecting his people. I missed countless family gatherings serving his ward. I have too much pride to transfer to a slower company, so I'll stay in your ward alongside the best, most experienced firemen in the city. There are no dogs working in your ward, the guys in the 13th Batallion are hard workers. The absolute best for your area, hands down. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT, ED! I'll think about you tomorrow on the way to the doctors office for my quarterly cortisone shots.
SCC I will try to get some names however in this over tax burdened society my non-police friends and neighbors see the police as ticket writing tax collectors.

----------
REALLY? Then educate them; take a copy of yesterday's paper or internet report of the fact that police ticketing DROPPED by more than ten percent last year and Daley's personal ticket-writing army of meter maids is responsible for the DRAMATIC increase in tickets issued.
Ed " snuffy" Smith- I remember him when I worked in 011-- what a goof.
old retired guy
Everone hear about the screw ball idiot and stupid TRU SGTS who got caught with there pants down in 16 when they should of been in the 4th dist. Getting into a verbal confrontaion with a citizen which resulted in a nasty CR#. Way to go dumb ass's. Hope you get dumped
10/24/2009 01:18:00 PM
get the facts straight asshole. The "citizen" you refer to was a retired po drunk as a skunk who decided to MF the uniformed Sgts who were on a legit uniform adjustment home. (he has a history of getting drunk and beefing on the police) The Sgts told him that if he drives they will DUI him. He call the ballless tact Sgt who gets a CR# on them for "harassing" him. The ballless Captain then has the ballless tact Sgt driver her to the scene where she drives the beefer (ODPO drunk) home in his own car.
10/24/2009 06:02:00 PM
Nice try. But these two sergeants are never where they are supposed to be. A legitimate uniform adjustment?? Are you kidding me??Just ask anyone who has ever worked for them. Need a SGT? Better call for someone else because these two won't be there for you.
These Sgt's DUI anyone? More likely they were willing to sacrifice one of their PO's to do the job for them. "Hey guys, why don't you DUI this guy?" "Sure Sarge". But God forbid they tell the PO's of the circumstance leading to the pissing match. Why are they in a pissing match with a retired copper anyway? Did he hurt their little feelings?
A history of beefing on cops? Once again, are you kidding me? How long did it take you to think of this? Two seconds? That is the poorest excuse I ever heard. "He hurt my feelings so I'll just tell everyone he's a beefer". So petty, so small, so pathetic.
Honestly, if you are going to be somewhere you shouldn't (uniform adjustment? that still makes me laugh), it would probably be best not to make an ass of yourself then put other cops in the middle of your mess. Make a mess and leave other cops to clean it up? Whose side are you on anyway?
Allegedly any City Employee with over $100.00 outstanding to the City is being lined up for termination.
SCC I will try to get some names however in this over tax burdened society my non-police friends and neighbors see the police as ticket writing tax collectors.

Thats because in large part many police departments are indeed as much about revenue generation as anything else.
As if selling the Skyway and the parking meters was not enough. Now he wants to sell the water department.
Is Mayor Daley Looking To Lease Water System?
http://cbs2chicago.com/local/water.system.2.1267896.html
The nearly inexhaustible appetite the Daley crime family has for graft astounds me.
Someone made a comment about pros gathering signatures. Is it possible to 1- find out how much it would cost for a company to carry out this mission and 2- set up a paypal account where we could all pitch in to pay the cost. Also while we are at it, how about a referendum on term limits for the mayoral position.
Many, many, many people should go to union meeting together and find out how we can get our pension money back from the pension board secretary that is going to law school school on our dime. I'm not blaming FOP, I'm just saying let's find out how to go about getting it back and stop any future thefts. That really pisses me off. My kid had to leave law school for a year to go back to work for tuition money but I'm helping to pay for this scrub? I'm outraged, humiliated and embarassed all at the same time.
Dude Ed Smith is my juice! You are crazy as hell. I like my nice warm toasty admin spot in XXXXX. I'll take a pass on this action. I will however sign a petition to bring Charlie Williams back as the Superintendant of Police or Emil Jones as US Senator or Eddie Vrdolyak as Govenor..........Hell SCC I'll sign a petition for you as an alderman if you give me a good enough spot....
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.
Just a few thoughts off the top of my old gray head on this matter.
I just printed this out and actually read this...petition.
If granted, it would mean nothing but a costly RACE BASED war of boundary lines and map drawing and court battles. The lawyers would love this and would grow rich at our expense and a term which hasn't been heard in many years around here would be the buzz word on all the evening newscast.
That word would be, "GERIMANDERING" (look it up), followed by the more familiar "RACISM" AND "STEERING".
Now think about this, we are not just employees, we and our families are VOTING CITIZENS of this city. This is one of the best reasons to keep the residency rule. Our biggest problem is we never acted like we had any clout. If the number of aldermen were to be cut in half, the power of the remaining few would be effectively doubled.
The ability and importance of an individual citizen like anyone of us to access our elective representative for a city problem is also cut in half.
The worst thing we do is not act as a voting block. We also as a group treat these people as if they were some kind of "statesman", not like the step-and-a-half from a gangbanger punk many of them are but are a necessary evil.
Would our contract be the joke it is if the president and the board of the FOP made individual visits to the aldermen six months before the old contract expired as if they were doing a Westside interrogation. Not going hat in hand but going for the throat. Look asshole, we know your secrets, this is what we want and you get it for us, or we will make it our job to deal with your replacement.
But, maybe there is a reason that FOP acts like a trained dog, patiently waiting, panting, jumping through hoops for the Masters.
Stay safe, register, vote, get everyone you know to vote and make them FEAR US!
Ed is boner
There is so much to say on this most unrealistic proposal. Of all the traffic violators, false burglar alarms, and gang banging dope dealers, you'd be hard pressed to accomplish a citywide average of 10 citations, 1 ANOV, and 2 arrest per officer throughout the whole city! And now you suggest they get a petition signed within a constrained time frame? If you were only 25% successful, these same officers would be working harder on petitions for a few weeks than they've worked on police work for the last six months! And how can you compare raises in one segment to another? So...50 Aldermen get a 6% raise, let's say it's $7K per year ($350K) and they each have a staff of 10 people...but they don't...and each of the ten receives $5K per year ($2,500,000). The grand total is $2,850,000. Now, factor an average salary of only $60K per officer on the low amount of only 7,000 officers... without factoring overtime, CU buyouts or court time...$21,000,000! Realistically...50 - 100 Million!
We need to focus on the values of 'safety', 'emergency response', 'crime reduction'... focus on selling that message, not comparing salary increases and trying recall elected officials! Do you realize that 'at least' 30% of our force make more money than an Alderman?
How about securing term limits for ALL political positions in Illinois? From Governor to Alderman?
What about those Tea Party Republicans, they've been seeking our support (posted in comments a few weeks ago...) and we need an external point of contact with a voting bloc to get it rolling. It might be just the alliance we need.
This might work...any teapartians reading?
. . . get the facts straight asshole. The "citizen" you refer to was a retired po drunk as a skunk who decided to MF the uniformed Sgts who were on a legit uniform adjustment home.
Has there ever really been a "legit" uniform adjustment?
Two sergeants on an adjustment?

Check state election laws regarding
using professional signature collectors.
Might not be as good an idea as it
sounds. Same w/having teenagers doing
it - likelihood of invalid signatures
goes up.
Make sure signatures are from legal
residents of Crook County - collecting
sigs from the labor pool over by the
Home Depot might not be a great idea.
Just sayin'.
My first sheet is signed, where do i send it. I will start second one tommorrow.

Thanks guys, from the 10th District.
this is funny. Can't get a dozen copppers to go to an FOP meeting but you think we'll do this. Smoke some more crack....
SCC, why can't we get it signed at work? Lt. Johnny Boy G. got his petitions floating around 025.
There will be a benefit this Friday at the FOP hall to help out one of our brothers who was IOD about a year ago. This might be a great place to distribute the blank forms. The attendees can then distribute them further in our own circle of friends.
A friend works at the airport and he could do his best to gather signatures. I'm Sure commander Argenbright would not mind.
good luck getting 50 cops
Allegedly any City Employee with over $100.00 outstanding to the City is being lined up for termination.
BULLSHIT
How did the drunk po even come in contact with the Sgts who were home for a "uniform adjustment" Went to their houses ? Or did 2 Sgts come together for one "uniform adjustment" and did this start at the Sgts. home Stuff like this shouldn't be happening Lets stick together
I can easily get 10+ sheets filled in at my businesses. I would just need to know where to deliver them.
If anyone is serious about this, I can have them done in a week.
OT: Can someone in 013 please tell 1395 2nd Watch we don't have a contract. You may be the nicest, smartest, most knowledgeable traffic guy in the city. But please knock the shit off. Today you are given a Rollover accident at Damen/Madison and you say hold me down writing some tickets? Imagine if a fatality was involved. A defense lawyer would have your ass for not rendering aid. Please cut the shit out.
Time also foar a Petition to remove Donohoe as our FOP
President, this guy is at total fuckin DUD..
No peace with Weis!
Oust the louse!
Master's distaster!
O T but please post. This is very important.
Dear friend,
I could use help spreading the word about some upcoming cop killers' parole hearings.
On Thursday, November 19th, en banc parole hearings for the killers of three Chicago Police Officers will be held in Springfield. Inmate Joseph Hurst, who is responsible for murdering PO Herman Stallworth (EOW 24 MAY 1967), inmate Bruce Sharp, who is responsible for the murder of PO Kenneth Kaner (EOW 19 JUN 1970), and inmate Ronnie Carasquillo, who is responsible for the murder of PO Terry Loftus (EOW 12 OCT 1976). The CPMF will charter a bus and attend the hearings with a contingent of Chicago Police Officers to show support for our fallen brothers.
Besides that, I am hoping to generate a writing campaign to the chairman of the IL Prisoner Review Board, Jorge Montes, asking that he change his vote and not allow these individuals back on the street. His address at IPRB is listed below.
The case that concerns me most is that of Ronnie Carasquillo as he had nearly enough votes to be paroled last year. He has also had strong support from some politicians including Luis Gutierrez. Gutierrez has been a driving force behind this case. His address is also listed below and I ask that he too receive letters denouncing his decision to back a cop killer.
Anything you can do to spread the word is greatly appreciated. These brave officers deserve better. Paroling any of these individuals would send a terrible message to brother officers, the Gold Star Families and society as a whole. I believe we should do everything within our power to ensure that parole is denied for these individuals.

Half the aldermen mean Daley wouldn't have to split up the spoils as much. Half the aldermen would be easier I suppose for him to control.
I was just thinking, for what we are paying Shortshanks, we could get a full sized mayor, even a KING SIZED LARGER THAN LIFE CHIEF EXECUTIVE....like Jimmy Mauer.
Mike Flannery of Channel 2 mentioned SCC and the referendum.
I don't have a problem with the executive bitches having a private exam session. When you're as disliked as those folks are, it's best to simply isolate yourself among your own...and it has served Weis so well up to now.
10/26/2009 06:52:00 AM
Well I do, not one of those cock suckers is better then the biggest dog ass on the department. That is the root of all that is wrong with cpd!
(OT) Airport exempt member on duty, not off. Sworn,on duty member in possession of ammo in approved case like other officers at airport. Nothing to see here.
Start getting signatures now, before it is too late. Identify and support someone to run against Smith and any other anti Police candidates.
United you can win !!!
How dare this idiot give himself a raise when we are still waiting for our contract and in the interim our officers are getting shot at left and right......SCC you didn't mention the lastest incident in 004th district that occurred yesterday on 135th & Brandon. Thank God officers are okay.
Todays Sun-Times editorial. (Monday Oct 26 2009)
Firefighters and Cops should take furlough days!
The wonder why this shit of a paper is in bankruptcy.
Mike Flannery (From Channel 2 News) His guess would be that Firefighters and Cops will never take a pay cut, and with Firefighters and Coppers in contract negotiations, if the arbitrator rules in favor of them and not the city, it can blow a hole in the city budget. The Firefighters and Coppers would be getting a raise, whereas all other city employees would be getting pay cuts! He went on to say that it is a risky move for the city sending negotiations to an arbitrator! Lets hope for alittle luck on our side this time with the arbitrator.
(The CFD us not in arbitration yet, but i think its heading there)
Also on the same news cast with Mike Flannery, some asswipe from a watch dog group, said that he beleived the city has more Firefighters and Coppers then what they need.
Time to conquer back, and hope our Unions have the balls to fight back, if things get bad.
The CFD Union president said today (Oct 26th 2009)the the CFD and the CPD is off guards during good times and in bad times to be making pay cuts. Public safety is not negotiable when it comes to furlough days or pay cuts! He commented about Ald Smiths comment last week.
Stay safe out there! Do your job, as if a camera is over you at all times, chances are, there is!

It was nice to see that this made my Comcast news homepage earlier tonight! It was a link to Channel 2's story about it:
http://cbs2chicago.com/local/Chicago.City.Council.2.1272167.html
But it was on the Comcast page! Meaning more people will see it! I'm going to do what I can to get some signatures/sheets done. I fully agree that there are too many of these guys just sitting on this council wasting time and money.
If the City (Daley) leases/sells the Water Department LOOK OUT. I have family members in average suburban homes who have been paying suburban water bills for years & you will not be happy. Some hot summer months can cost in excess of $500.00 just to water the lawn.
What we need 2 do is get a copper elected into office and when he or she runs back them 100%
10/26/2009 09:39:00 AM
And look at the comments by us talking about Johnny G.
The news is noticing, we could do this. Where do we get petitions?
How about a twofer? can we get petitions signed for Daley and/or the Burkomaster at the same time?

A bit off topic But
Paul Vallas told WWL-TV reporter Paul Murphy for this story that Universal Placement International and its owner, Lourdes Navarro, were awarded a $47500
It gets very interesting very quick.
Laws broken??

It MIGHT, indeed, be interesting, if only you would translate your post to the English language. Using complete sentences would just be a bonus.
SCC, leave this post up for a couple days to see if you can get this thing going.

that would never happen, but some how new york is able to get by with only having 25 alderman and they have over 8 million in their city- lets redo the wards when jody rearranges the beats
10/26/2009 12:47:00 AM
==================================
Actually New York has 51 members in their city council. And L.A. gets by with only 15 members.
I have a point person nomination:
The unit rep in 009 has balls and is a good guy. If asked, I'm sure he would be the point person. D.T. 1st watch.
D.T. If u r reading this, step up and be r point person. Or somebody let him know.
You don't care about repercussions!
If you do this, I'm sure we will ALL remember you if u should ever, let's say run for something. C'mon we got mike shields elected, didn't we?
Thank u.
Masters.
Come on Northern. Are you going to help us out?
I think you are forgetting about one powerful group of people that would gladly help distribute and get these petitions signed SCC. The wives.
No one hates this city and how it treats our guys more then we do.

10/26/2009 08:35:00 AM
===================================
Why would they need 2 Chiefs of Staff? And 2 Admin Asst?
Plus you would get rid of 25 Streets and Sand offices that only have clouted working in them. The workers that do the work would still be needed but the bosses wouldn't be needed
We also need to have special elections when they is a vacant office
Link to the mike flannery coverage of this:
http://cbs2chicago.com/local/Chicago.City.Council.2.1272167.html
Jim Tobin of National Taxpayers United Illinois said the council-reduction idea is worth considering. So are police and fire salary adjustments, he said.
"I think we have too many of them," he said. "I think they're overpaid. And I think their pension benefits are out of line, as well."
If there are more ff and cops than needed continue with the hiring freeze, oh yea already doing that, reduce by attrition...doing that too, then remove cfd cpd from non-tax paying communities.
There are a lot of people that said that it is only an advisory referrendum. That might be true, but if it was to pass then we could all call our Aldermen and tell there if it wasn't pushed thru that they would be out of a job come next election.

fixed it for you.
Re: 0045hrs. Today's sun times has an article stating that dog ass al sharpton will be leading the boycott of Fenger. This is great as it keeps the stupid motherfuckers out of school and gives them the opportunity to become even dumber.
Just remember that you cannot teach the unteachable.
Lets just say that you manage to obtain the required number of valid, unchallengable signatures.
Do you really thing the City Council will take the steps to eliminate half of their numbers? Half the family members out of work?
They will fight it tooth and nail to the last taxpayer dollar to keep their jobs and numbers.
Hate to say it, but you might need a far more radical plan to bring it off.
START WITH LAURINO IN 39TH WARD- SHE IS IN FOP NEWSLETTER UNDER AIRHEAD SAL'S Vets NOTES BECAUSE HIS BROTHER IS ONE OF HER PRECINT CPTS...GO FIGURE IF THAT ISNT A SELL OUT -FREE POLITICAL PUB FOR AN ALDERCREATURE THAT DOESNT EVEN SUPPORT A POLICE CONTRACT!!!!! Thats why CLOUT will always rule because people will sell their souls for a good spot or a favor
Nothing will get done, no one will do anything...business as usual.
I printed out the signing sheet and brought it two several friends that own small businesses with a lot of foot traffic. You should have seen their eyes light up when they found out what they where for. People usually do not care to sign these things, but when they find out it is to propose dumping alderscum they love it. SCC where do we send the notarized sign in sheets to? Everybody should give some to the local business in their area. People are tired of these scum bags stealing without recourse.
(OT) Officers do travel for reaaons related to work. Shouldn't assume every officer traveling is only for personal reasons. You don't know their circumstances.
gee, sorry to hear that "Boss"

Its not their fault, it everybody elses....don't ya know!
Sounds like a lot of work for nothing. Just like that picket we had. How do you make it a binding resolution that can be voted on during an election?
The CBS link brought me over here. I see my good friend Mike Doyle talked about the blog on his site too.
First, I'd suggest that Streets & Sans and the schools employees are also upset, not to mention anyone having to put money in a meter knowing that his quarter is going to a New York company and not the city...
Chamber of Commerce meetings are full of angry people right now too.
It isn't a matter of talk, but of action. You'll find lots of angry people out there, but one of the commentators is right, the collectors need to be trained to gather the signatures, or the referendum will fail right there.
Though, the publicity of the city doing that would also be priceless.
As a final point, I hope everyone with the ability to do so, tickets ANY LAZ vehicle seen parked illegally. Fair is fair after all.
SO WHERE DO WE SEND THE FILLED OUT PAPER PETITIONS??
..personally i think a petition to put a referandum to set mayoral and aldermanic term limits would be more helpful in the long term.
Problem #1 with this city could be resolved by term limits.

Work with tsa cpd generated a case report for a 5081 sorry not business want her name??
hey, scc
as someone mentioned in in a previous post, the answer is facebook. posting that on a social networking site, is the best way of getting the job done.
THIS CAN BE DONE! The most powerful and feared force are the PEOPLE. I once heard a person in power state that their only fear is civil unrest. If we rally together and let the PEOPLES voices be heard, the politicians have no choice but to listen to the PEOPLE. Petitions can be filled, call Union(s) and demand their support & assistance. NOW IS THE TIME.
Stand out in front of a Walgreens,a Jewel or any local grocery store.
It's much faster than door to door!!
Any guess what the price tag on this school safety program is??????????? How much is a dedicated Helicopetr costing taxpayers?? The one that was flying today at dismissal time??? OT for the officers assigned to these schools??? Any guesses where these schools are??? Better yet how many of these high school students leave school with books ???????????????
SCC, are you really going to force us to listen to this asshole with the hard-on for females supervisors at the airport again? Stop please! He's making my eyes bleed! Fucking whiny cry baby. We have bigger things going on. He should be out getting signatures not spying on everyone.
No, I want YOUR NAME. If you work for TSA it is not only against company policy for you to release information on a report generated during a company investigation regardless of what agency made a report, it is illegal. I want your name because I want to make sure your ass never works for TSA again and I will make sure they are aware of this.
I agree the petition should include all 50 alderman
You have sparked something here. I just heard about this on NBC5 news, but with no reference where to get petitions or how to deliver them to a coordinator. I found it obviously through Google. Advisory or not, if successful, this would signal to the legislature a window to act. This isn't a cure all, but is a significant enough paradigm shift to be meaningful. BTW, if you were to set up a paypal donation account, I GUARANTEE you will receive way more than enough $ to pay for this effort and successive petition efforts. Please publish where to send filled out petitions!
Lets do it! Print a couple pages out and do the best you can do. We should be able to get the signatures!!
