Deja Vu

Another misstep in the Global War on Terror by the increasingly tone-deaf Obama administration. They wanted to hold the terror trials literally in the shadows of the Twin Towers in Manhattan. New York put on a brave face, but behind the scenes, a completely different story:
  • The Obama administration on Wednesday lost its most prominent backer of the plan to try the self-described mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks in Lower Manhattan when Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said the trial should not be held in New York City.

The mayor’s reversal was a political blow to the White House’s efforts to resolve a landmark terror case a few blocks from where Al Qaeda hijackers rammed planes into the World Trade Center, a trial that the president saw as an important demonstration of American justice.

That was Wednesday. Thursday, this:
  • White House officials have told the Justice Department to consider other venues for the 9/11 terror trial that was to be held in lower Manhattan, the Daily News has learned.
Here's a bright idea being floated on the right side of the blogosphere:
  • How about military tribunals? Maybe on an island base? Something just outside of the USA, maybe 90 or so miles? Remote, yet accessible to aircraft or even helicopters to bring in lawyers, witnesses, evidence, etc., but protected and secure.
Anyone know where we might have a facility like that? It would have to be better than transporting terror suspects halfway across the US on aircraft and vans.

Senate permits gov't to borrow an additional $1.9T
Comments

January 28, 2010

WASHINGTON -- The Democratic-controlled Senate has muscled through a plan to allow the government to go a whopping $1.9 trillion deeper in debt.
The party-line 60-40 vote was successful only because Republican Sen.-elect Scott Brown has yet to be seated. Sixty votes were required to approve the increase. The measure would lift the debt ceiling to $14.3 trillion. That's about $45,000 for every American.

Democrats had to scramble to approve the plan, which means they won't have to vote on another increase until after the midterm elections this fall. To win the votes of moderate Democrats, President Barack Obama promised to appoint a special task force to come up with a plan to reduce the deficit. The House must still vote on the measure before it's sent to Obama for his signature.

So much for fiscal responsibility. This country is finished! Just wait until they mandate all IRA's, deferred compensation plans and savings accounts over a certain amount into US Government bonds. This is being discussed now.

Please realize that we are entering a DEPRESSION. Things are going to get much, much worse shortly.

Prepare NOW!

Keep them at Gitmo for a military tribunal. If you must change the venue, I'd recommend Barrow on Alaska's North Slope.

I say toss the guilty jihadists a bone. Use Sharia law and behead the mother fuckers. Hell, give them an option. Set them free via parachute at the North Pole , each with an industrial size cans of beans and hummus and sterno to cook. Air drop further foodstuffs on an annual basis unless no longer needed.

Let them "chill out". Barrow is accessible via daily flights from Nome, Fairbanks and Anchorage.

Everyone I know said the same thing. Hold it on a military base. It was attack against our country wasn't it? It's a "war" isn't it? What is wrong with our government? And why close Gitmo when no other states want to house these assholes?

Obamao is an idiot and too inexperienced to be in the White House. This is all starting to show and thank God the people are starting to get over their ingestion of the Kool Aid and vote for REAL hope and change.

This moron is probably the best thing to happen to conservatives since Jimmy Carter. If Mass. can do it, the rest of the country can too.

But not Illinois. Our voters are too stupid. They'll continue to vote just how Shortshanks wants them to.

I am sure the defense will ask for a change of venue. The sitting judge seeing that the people of Manhatten want it also, grants the change to GUAM.

It would be nice to delay thess holy warriors (murdering scum) a podium for them to demonstrate their beliefs.

No breathless CNN reporters hovering on every word.

Instead a military press release from Gitmo:

"The terrorists were found guilty today, and executed."

Their bodies will be donated to the local marine life. The sharks always hang around anyway, since Americans have the best garbage on the island.

These are not citizens, where does it say we have to give them American justice ?

We might as well spare the expense of the trials and free them all now if they get judges like we have here in Crook County. And don’t forget they’ll need section 8 housing with link cards too.

I doubt the Navy can spare an AC carrier, but maybe they could use one of the Amphibious Assault ships used by the Marines.

You know SCC, reading the comments from this article has restored my faith in America. For far too long we have been bombarded by all of the leftist bullshit that the Obamanites have been spewing forth in the name of change. Since the Republican win of "Kennedy's" Senate seat a couple weeks ago there has been a welcome tide of patriotism and common sense spreading over the country. Obama is now back pedaling and reconsidering many of his own policies. The guy is running scared. I'm lovin it!

I like it!! Alaska is a good idea too. Not too much of a chance of them escaping and getting anywhere in that country. As for Haiti, since we're putting so much money into the country, why don't we just buy it.

You use that word, "literally". I don't think it means what you think it means. I doubt that you mean to say that the Obama administration thinks that the World Trade Center twin towers are still standing to have a trial in their shadow. Geez, (name deleted because my wife said I had to), you don't post anything I say.
