Cop Run Over
A Back of the Yards neighborhood woman has been charged with three felonies, two misdemeanors and issued six traffic tickets after she allegedly struck an officer with a vehicle following a chase and crash early Sunday on the Southwest Side.
Police fired shots at the woman, but she was not struck by the police gunfire. She was hospitalized after being Tasered following the crash. The officer struck by the vehicle was also injured, police said.
Again, more and more, cars are being used as weapons. Think tactically on each and every traffic stop. You are more valuable to us than a bullet riddled car.

i ll bet her lawyer will say...'' she was afraid that the police were gonna hurt her. she had to escape from their evil clutches. she did nothing wrong. they got the wrong person''.
Again, violence vs Police is up, police are shooting to save their skin(thank god),
violence vs. cps students is up, violence and property crimes vs. citizens all over chicago is up,Cozzi is in the joint, real criminals are being set free by AA and her crew at the asa's office, morale is dangerously low,
Why is Chicago buying this J-Farts cooked crime stats???? Wait till summer there will be criminal atrocities that he won't be able to hide. And the real police will say I told you so.
Due to a lack of proofreading, or maybe incompetent proofreading, the article leads one to believe the chase went on for twelve hours. Apparently, the Sun Times doesn't know the difference between a.m. and p.m.
Anyway, it's good the police came out of it okay and the criminal driver is in custody.
Remember, cars don't kill. Car DRIVERS do. Be careful out there on EVERY stop.

All the more reason for MORE rounds of practice ammo on the range instead of less.
The amount of $$$ saved by the stuttering prick by cutting practice ammo for the CPD will just result in spiraling payouts in court as the juries will award LARGER damage awards to subjects struck by errant police gunfire.
Juries will surely recognize that the City SHOULD HAVE KNOWN that eliminating officers opportunities to hone their skills in the use of their firearms, would result in less accuracy when officers utilize deadly force.

Get outta the way, HF!
But seriously, glad everyone is safe.
Joseph P. Pecoraro,84, passed away Wednesday, February 10th at Little Company of Mary Hospital, Evergreen Park, IL. Mr. Pecoraro was a graduate of Wendell Phillips High School and served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II.
In 1951, Mr. Pecoraro began his 35-year career with the Chicago Park District Police Department and continued his service with the Chicago Police Department following the merger of the two agencies in 1959. Mr. Pecoraro served as a Patrol Officer, a district vice and tactical officer and as an original member of the department’s Canine Unit. He and his partners were twice nominated for the Carter Harrison/Lambert Tree awards, which are the city’s highest public safety awards that alternated between the Chicago Police and Fire Departments.
In 1973, having served as 1st Vice President, Mr. Pecoraro was elected to serve as President of the department’s largest fraternal/labor rank-and-file organization --- The Chicago Patrolman’s Association (CPA) --- established in 1916. For the next quarter of a century, he championed the causes of the men and women of the CPD to gain better working benefits, air conditioned squad cars and better pension benefits. He was the primary catalyst in obtaining “bullet-proof” vests for department members after having appeared before the Chicago City Council meeting in 1974,wearing a vest. His dedication to these causes eventually led to Chicago police officers obtaining the right to collective bargaining. He was a member of Governor Jim Edgar’s Labor Relations Advisory Board, the WGN Television Advisory Board and honorary lifetime member of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police. He was an ardent supporter of events to benefit inner city youths and routinely sponsored holiday programs during the winter and summer months.
In 1974, with the fervent belief that the pursuit of justice must be accompanied by community education, he founded the American Police Center and Museum in Chicago. The museum, which is in the process of moving to Illinois’ capital city - Springfield, entertained thousands of children, community groups and many foreign visitors with educational displays and live public safety presentations.

Many years ago, Rosie was a sweet, caring and hard working girl with an office job in the south loop. She started having kids and her boss drove his business to the ground and all went downhill from there. Not really sure what happened after she lost her job but I imagine things got rough. I am saddened to see that she got herself into this situation but had I been there, I would have taken that shot too.
I don't condone anyone's violence against us police officers but if you take a step back and really look at the big picture, most of these incidents involve drugs. The majority of the offenders don't get up in the morning and plan to attack us, the drugs drive them to do it.
I haven't seen Rosie in over eight years, but I can tell you that the old Rosie would have not done something that stupid.
I really do hope she gets the help that she needs in addition to the punishment she deserves.
It sure seems like females are becoming a bigger portion of the offender pool lately. More and more women are in the news for serious and violent crimes. Please be careful out there.
Let us hope that BILL COZZI is buzy writing a book about his time in the fed pen and who sent him there. That would be interesting reading and it should sell. Maybe a few hairgels/recent ppo would read it and consider it ancient history since they know everything anyway. Show your support Feb 18, at the federal appeals court.
Shame this rabid bitch wasn't put down.
Shooting at a moving car as a way to get it to stop is bound to fail most of the time. Chances are even if you manage to hit the driver, you will get hit by a 2000 pound club.
Some of the car shootings are probably driven by the lack of tools available to stop a car other than a firearm, but you just cannot stop a 2000 pound car with 180 grains of lead except by sheer chance.
A human being is more agile than a vehicle so moving away from the attacking vehicle at sharp angles is a far better defense than shooting at it.
Not much comfort if you get the driver but he/she gets you too.
I smell a lawsuit!
Another tragic part of this whole scenario is that this chick's car insurance rates will STILL be lower than most unmarried males, ages 21 to 30.
These sexist inequities must stop!
Her defense will be that her gas pedal and brakes had malfunctioned on her TOYOTA vehicle. Not guilty.. next case!!
Don't berate the Police Officers for failing to put rounds in the
woman or killing her.
Had she been killed, some slick
a*s lawyer would have pursuaded her
family to file a wrongful death suit against the City and The Police and in the current climate
the City would have paid the claim
and attempted to fire the officers.
Beware officers, the City and the
Department does not have your back.
When you go out there among JoJo,
Pookie, Little Man, and the rest of
the "hood rats", the only protection you have is each other on the street, and your side-arm.
It is better to be judged by twelve
than carried by six. And remember,
your family wants to see you when
your shift ends. Like the sargeant
says at roll-call, " Hey !, let's
be careful out there !
"The amount of $$$ saved by the stuttering prick by cutting practice ammo for the CPD will just result in spiraling payouts in court as the juries will award LARGER damage awards to subjects struck by errant police gunfire"
HEY GETS IT THRU YOU THICK NOGGIN, THEM LAWSUITS WILL KEEP MY OUTFIT LAWYERS PLENTY BUSY & IF YOU FIND YOUR SELF AS A DEFENDANT, I'LL CALL IN MY FED BUDDIES & SHIP YOUR ASS TO THE FEDERAL POKEY. THANKS FOR PLAYING CHUMP, NEXT!!
Get well officer.
Juries will surely recognize that the City SHOULD HAVE KNOWN that eliminating officers opportunities to hone their skills in the use of their firearms, would result in less accuracy when officers utilize deadly force.

The city did not eliminate those oportunities. If the cuts stand, they will just be reducing the number of skill honing opportunites being paid for by the city.
If you on a personal level feel your skills are substandard, don't you think you have a moral and ethical obligation to do something about that, even if you have to fork out some of your own money to do so? Isn't that a matter of street survival, if nothing else?
Its doubtful juries will care all that much if the cop doing the shooting had any training at all. Its more about whether the shooting was justified in the first place.
If the cop misses the perp and manages to hit someone who is not involved, training might matter, but most times misses don't hit anything, so who is going to sue? Most juries are probably going to see shooting someone unintentionally as negligent, and mostly (but maybe not always) they would be right to do so.
God Bless Officer Joseph P. Pecoraro and his family. Thank you for all that you've done for your brothers and sisters.
"2/14/2010 02:04:00 PM"
mostly, probably, it might be doubtful that you can tell the difference between your ass and a hole in the ground.
maybe.
If she had a rocket launcher in the car she would of just been charged with a misdeamor. Where can I get one of those!

It was mentioned that these PO's are in deep doo doo because they did not have their in car camera on!
To the person defending "Rosie"...
FUCK YOU!! Quit making excuses for a piece of shit that tried to kill one of our own. "The drugs made her do it..." "The Rosie I knew wouldn't do anything like this"...
NEWSFLASH, Dummy! That crack pipe didn't put itself in Rosie's mouth and ignite the off-white "boulder" therein.
Adults are supposed to make responsible decisions. All decisions, responsible or otherwise have consequences. Part of being a member of what's supposed to be civilized society is adhering to making the right decisions and actions, or suffering when you're not smart enough to do the right things.
Poor Rosie, my fucking ass! Rosie should've been executed on the spot once the car came to rest.
You must be just another liberal asshole that slipped through the screening process and got on this job. I feel sorry for any copper that has to work with your pathetic ass.
You are more valuable to us than a bullet riddled car.
BUT NOT IN THE CITY'S EYES!

Too bad, so sad for Rosie.
Well fuck her. You say she started having kids.
And?!
My wife and I have kids. I nor she has ever tried to run over anyone.
And you say poor little Rosie is now on drugs.
What a crock of shit. It is a conscious choice you make to smoke the rock or snort the heroin or whatever her poison happens to be.
Personal responsibility.
Ever heard of it.
She chose to spread her legs.
She chose to do the drugs.
Own up. Take responsibility for your actions.
It's no one elses fault. You only have control over one thing & that is yourself.
So piss on Rosie.
Friday nite in 008 garfield ridge gangmembers went to the home of an odpo. They lured him out of his house by throwing eggs at his windows. The p.o. was beaten by gangmembers who fled and were later caught and arrested.

SCC didn't say that - that's a quote from the attached article. See how it's in italics and indented? Stop giving SCC credit for crappy writing from the media
Just read the sun-times on the internet and learned that the bond set for this bitch is $25,000.00, which is way low for what she did. There is a litany of felony charges pending including, but not limited to, aggravated battery to a Police Officer, drug possession, etc.
However, the article failed to name the asshole judge who issued such a low bond. This would be a good name to know in case he/she is running on a ballot to be retained. Enough said.

Executed??? on the spot??? WOW!
It seems to me that once the car comes to rest...the level of threat does too...good luck with that policing philosophy.

Do not blame inanimate objects or substances for the poor decisions made by a human being.
The drugs did it. The guns did it. The car did it. You do realize all of these things do not have reasoning power, nor can they act on their own..right?
It's her fault plain and simple. Did she deserve to die? No, but the police have a right to defend themselves, and if she dies in the process of them using lethal force to counter an imminent threat or forcible felony to themselves - so be it. Fuck with the bull, get the horns. If you don't want bullets coming your way from the muzzle of police guns, don't threaten their lives!

++++++++++++++++++
yeah, so what! Lawsuits are so commonplace now its not even an issue anymore. People really need to stop worrying about these things. They are not gonna stop, your gonna get sued for just about anything you do these days. Even if your a kma do nothing your gonna get sued for something.
SGT S.M. Strikes again....Sgt. S.M. on scene, after officers do a great job with no serious injuries, SAYS "Too much paper work I'm Outta here."...then gets in squad and runs away like the whiny bitch he is. Thanks for nothing Asshole. Watch your backs around this guy he will throw you under the bus quicker than a hiccup!

Not true. I read the report and spoke to A/O's. The eggs were thrown by 13 YOs who didn't like POs 13 YO. Kids older brother was called and he and friend went over because they thought kids were being fucked with. There was an altercation but no gang motivation and neither offenders have rap sheets. Let's not start even more neighborhood panic unless it's justified. There was NO gang motivation in this incident.

--The kid that got his butt kicked by the ODPO's son, after going to to HIS house, went to the station to file the report the next day with his parents. Of course they went home after making the report and requested a supervisor and will be calling IPRA. Maybe THEY should pay more attention to their kid and what's he's doing!

THERE IS....
a little honey dear and close to my heart working in 004 encountered a similar situation with an offender using a vehicle for a weapon. Her life IMMEDIATELY endangered, the apple of my eye, while nearly pinned on the driver side of the offenders vehicle, drew and introduced her duty weapon to the drivers left ear. The car stopped, the offender surrendered and all in good in the hood once again. (wonder where she got that gun tactic from???) point here is once the line is crossed and ANYONES(civilian, security, police) Life is endangered with immediate loss or grave bodily harm, the decision to shoot is ALWAYS justified. But in this legal climate you HAD BETTER BE in immediate danger or carry a copy of your deed with you to sign over to the bad guy on the scene. While I wasnt there and will NEVER armchair a PO decision in a situation such as this,I WILL say I would have acted the same way under the circumstances.

way off topic but......
In 1989,(shut UP Larry I know Im dating myself)I was working a detail in the Park District downtown(Grant Park)when I encountered a gaggle of New Yawk coppers. Conversation commenced and the topic of men assigned to beat cars came up. New Yawk said they rode(at the time) 3 or 4 deep in the beat car.I laughed out loud for a good while. The New Yawk copper wanted to know what was so damn funny and my reply was,"It takes 4 of youse guys to do what ONE Chicago Cop does???" Naturally, having ruffled feathers(my Forte by the way) I had to lay plastic on the bar at Millers Pub so as to right that grievous wrong i done did but it was well worth it.Number of years later Im standing in Manhatten minding my own business waiting for a cab when Im approached by 2 well street worn New Yawk coppers one of which was a Sergeant. Not imeediately recognizing them I was on the defensive, sensing this the Sgt said,"We aint got no Miller's here but (pointing across the street to a local watering hole)welcome to New Yawk shee CAH go,first few rounds on me.The following "catch up" memorable and yes we closed the place.
More from the Archives later....
Thanks SCC
