Someone commented on Daley's recent sucking up to Obama's ex-social director. Is this all true?
- Desiree Rogers has friends with money, she raises funds for 42 short and gets votes for him. Her ex-husband, John W. Rogers, Jr., owns/runs Ariel Capital Management (Ariel Funds) which gets much city business for all the deferred comp funds for all city employees. How much do you think Ariel makes holding and managing billions of city deferred comp accounts?
A few years ago the city dumped a bunch of mutual funds and forced us to choose from a so-called equivalent selection of, guess what, Ariel Funds; that is when a lot of our deferred comp funds went to John W. Rogers, Jr. and Ariel Capital Management.
You can bet your mortgage that lots of $$ goes back to daley in the form of campaign contributions.
Look at the basket of funds available in deferred comp, all those Ariel funds are controlled by Desiree Rogers ex-husband, John W. Rogers, Jr. Another "good friend" of daley.
Of all the money changing hands among daley's cronies not much has been written about John W. Rogers, Jr. and Desiree and the daley connection to Rogers and Ariel Funds and the massive amount of city business they get.

When Obama was still a candidate Desiree held a fundraiser at her posh mansion on the gold coast. I had a friend who attended and knew her. He observed her yelling at two Hispanic workers who were moving things around for her at the top of her lungs. The poor guys were doing there job, but nothing was good enough for Desiree.
The amount of elitism that was on display that evening was sickening. Desiree is a perfect example of that. You live the high life in private, but are for the people in public. The Kennedy's are our first family of hypocrisy but the Obama's have potential.

Apparently Desiree Rogers was sent by somebody, hence the immediate show of support by 42 short for Ms. Rogers.
Anyone know Desiree's maiden name, before she married into the Rogers clout structure? Does she have any family or personal clout herself? She must have some somewhere, she landed the Illinois Lottery director job and the gas company job.
That kind of employment doesn't just drop out of the sky onto the best person for the job, not here in Illinois it doesn't. Those jobs goes to the best political pedigree.
Ms. Rogers sure got chewed up and spit out in Washington in something like record time so she really must have pissed off the big "O" or worse, Mrs. "O" or maybe she got her ass reamed but good and didn't like it.
The social director of the White House does not fuck up the President's first State Dinner and get a second crack at it. Ms. Rogers is so accustomed to being the center of attention herself she went to that State Dinner as a guest, not as an employee! The nerve of her! And now 42 short is blaming the Secret Service. Very typical of daley.
Wipe that egg off your face Ms. Rogers, we in the CPD know very well what a dumping looks like.

Well isn't another former head of the Traffic Institute, Alec Weiss, working for the connected PAR group doing the beat re-allocation plan for Daley? Yep. And everyone knows how U of C put the Obama family to work. And politicians' kids getting into U of I? Gee whiz, professor...
I've always disliked Daley. The ex-Mrs Rogers is a fraud. But John Rogers is one of the best value investors Chicago has produced. He is a regular contributor to Forbes Magazine and has a pretty good track record for the past 20+ years. When I saw his name on the pension advisory board, I felt a tad better about our pension. But not that much better. He's a sharpie, no doubt of that.

Yes it is all true. I worked for her when she worked for the State of Illinois . I have never worked for a more arrogant person in my life. When I heard about the little mishap at that event I could not contain my laughter because that is how she was with events in the past. She would not want to mingle with "certain type of people and always thought she was too good to be around the "commoners" Previous to working for the state she worked for AT&T and I know that there was talk of some shady deals with the state giving bids to AT&T over other bidders. I know that sounds obvious but I overheard a conversation where two people were talking about shredding memo's that included these deals because they did not want those memos in the wrong hands. Back then things were still done on an actual typewritter. She also has ties to John Rosales who does or still works for Coca-Cola and donates heavy as well. Rosales' wife has also had many high profile jobs due to Coca Cola backing, one of those spots was the head of the liquor commission. The ties that bind would make people sick if they knew even half of the truth. Thanks to blogs like SCC it is getting a little harder to make those ties invisible.

Hello JG, Jr. Exectutive Director of the Police Pension Fund. Stay off our blog, please. Ariel was one of the two poorest performing money managers for our pension fund when Shields tried to get Ariel removed. He failed. Imagine that. Clout always wins, and Ariel has plenty of it.
Her clout is Emil Jones. She was made president of people's gas because of that connection. She had no clue about the natural gas industry.

I love how people run huge companies/utilities like Peoples Gas and have no clue about natural resources and utilities. Sounds like a lot of "DIVERSIFICATION" to me.
