Revolution?

There is no doubt that this picture is one of the finest photoshops ever created:

And this is an excerpt from The Reader about why Daley continues to win elections:
  • "I never thought I'd see the day when Daley was vulnerable," she concluded. "But he is."

And she's not the only one who sees it.

Despite the myths propagated by his administration—and received as fact by many news outlets, including, most recently, the New Yorker—Daley is not overseeing a smoothly running, contented city. Every day I hear CTA riders bitching about the decline of rapid transit, which Daley appointees have overseen for the last two decades. At community policing meetings people talk about daily gunfire down the block from their homes; cops, meanwhile, quietly rage about how the police department has cut hundreds of officers from its ranks in the last couple years. Aldermen have been fretting aloud about the vacant homes and empty storefronts pockmarking their neighborhoods, and they say they're inundated with calls from constituents wanting to know why the city isn't doing more to get rid of squatters and drug dealers. Then there are all the complaints about potholes, poorly maintained parks, and struggling schools. Community activists wonder why the city has doled out hundreds of millions of dollars in corporate subsidies when it can't find the money to maintain basic city services. And scores of people around town are, like my fellow diners, irked that the city sold its street parking system to an investment bank.

As The Reader points out, Daley isn't invincible, he's just running against a very low quality of opponents. That might be coming to an end, but we are far from convinced.

Easily the best , and most telling quote in the article. This arrogant piece of shit thinks he's got the minority vote wrapped up.
Mayor, let me let you in on a little secret. You're in big political trouble , boy.

I listened to WLS radio today. Your Sun Times lackey cheerleading reporter Fran Spielman talked about the lack of blacks you have in your cabinet. The few that remain are under seige; they have legal or political problems or a combo of the two. Michael Scott's death still raises a lot of unanswered questions. Weis , Masters and company have wacked black exempts numbers to an unprecedented low, and have bleached the upper echelon-filling it with unqualified political hacks. You've permanently alienated the hispanic community with the Lopez debacle.
I'm saying all of this to tell you , Daley, you stupid arrogant buffoon, is that despite all of the support of your sell out black reverneds and political flunkies, you won't be getting the unanimous support of the black , or hispanic community in the next election. I
kept a laundry list of how you treat the minorities and I'm going to disseminate it widely and aggressively during the election.
You can toss in spoilers if you want, you know, some black flunky to split the vote and assure your re election. But those who play that game is gonna be targeted for political retaliation and defeat.
Hoffman, if he runs, is going to hand you your lunch, and I'm going to be there to watch you choke on it. Enjoy the last ten months of your fiefdom.
Hoffman, or Anyone but Daley, 2011

Out of the ten people who the Reader mentions as possible Daley opponents I think only Dart or Houlihan could beat him.

http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/ten-chicago-politicians-to-watch-for-mayor/Content?oid=1514657

I think only Houlihan will likely run. Call it 50/50/. Dart is too much of a machine guy at heart to challenge the King. Plus there might be a hooker giving a handjob somewhere and Tommy would want to stop it.

No way would Jesse Jr. want his wife as mayor. She would overshadow the little guy and he is all about ego.

The others are teeny wittle characters. Reverend Meeks.......sheeet.

Than guy is right wing on social issues. Virulently anti gay and anti abortion. Not going to fly in Chicago. This isn't Utah and I don't know any Osmonds.

Waguspeck seems like a decent enough guy, but he has less charisma than JFed and may actually be uglier.

Reilly. If he were any lighter in his loafers he'd be a Cubs fan. Wait, he is a Cubs fan.

Fioretti. Doesn't have the cojones. He backed down to the Mayor on most issues.

No ladies and gents this is Chicago, the Gods will not save us.

I think we need a well educated, articulate, highly decorated cop and military veteran to take on Daley.

Preferably in their 40-50's.

Male, nice family, and enough time on the job that he can qualify for a pension. Because with the take no prisoners campaign I would envision, he isn't going back to the department if he loses.

Anyone game?

Its nice to see that she is exempt from city stickers too since she had a lost/sten one affixed to her windshield. How much you want she doesn't have to pay all the impound and tow fees. Glad to see someone did their job and impounded this car. "As a Captain that looks out for his troops in Area 2, I take exception with the above comment. ALL white shirts are not the same, on a daily basis I look out for the health and welfare of the troops and let them know I appreciate the job they do. I also hit the streets with them as much as I can, if it was up to me I'd be out there with you guys for the whole tour." blah blah..

Now the truth...there ain't one legit capt or excempt in this whole dept!
I will tell you why,
-if any of you asshats ever served in the military you would know that;
1. no officer eats or sleeps until his soldiers do.
2. Officers make their camps last.
3. Officers get paid after their troops do.
4. Officers drive what their troops drive.
5. Officers have done and have demonstrated proficiency at any task that they expect their soldiers to do.
6. Officers never fraternize with the troops, much less try to fuck every female soldier in their command.
7. Military officers always credit their troops and never hold news conferences to pat themselves on the back.

8. A military officer never tells a troop off in public, he will defer to the soldier's chain of command.

9. The military promotes people "who have been there and done that." CPD promotes clout heavy trash who "have never been there and never done shit.

10. So shut up skipper.

The CPD is ass backwards. Exempts expect every little perk and never take the blame for anything. Always stocking their harems/front offices with the chosen women.Micro managing, back biting and self-lauding is the order of the day in the CPD. Espesially with this latest goof J-Jag, Troops mean absolutely nothing to the bosses who always take care of themselves first. From the top down to sgt.

Now tell everyone you know or at every call, not to vote for Daley.

That is all,recover.

You're kidding, right? Vallas is a Daley hack from way back, who owes Daley for his rise in the world. Daley made this guy his CPS CEO guy after he took over the schools system like a dictator.

From Wikipedia:

"The position of CEO of the CPS was created by Mayor Richard M. Daley after he successfully convinced the Illinois State Legislature to place CPS under mayoral control. Vallas had previously directed the budget arm of the Illinois State Legislature and served as budget director for Daley".

Vallas dropped out of the race for Pres of the Cook County Board when the Mayor told him to, so don't expect him to come back here and save the city by running against Daley.

IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN !

As the article states, Daley manages to keep the mayor's job
because he runs against " low quality, uninspiring opponents ".
In addition to the fact that a
"stalking horse" always enters the
race to sorta "spread" the votes on
the West and Southsides.
He also increased the number of
petition signatures required to
get on the ballot to mount a
campaign against him. In spite of
how he treats them, Chicagoans must
love their "Daley" bread because he
always gets his way and returned to
office. And like the Teflon Don
no dirt seems to stick to him.

That's a load of crap. The Office of the Mayor needs to keep the city running. In the first term AD (after Daley) the greatest NEED will be to disengage the Outfit from their stranglehold on this city.

Andy Shaw, former TV reporter and now head of the Better Govt Association said recently that as much as 40% of the tax money in Chicago, Cook County and Illinois is eaten up by corruption in the form of waste, inflated political insider contracts, corporate tax breaks and subsidies and friend and family city consultantcies etc.

The new Mayor will need to identify and eliminate the Outfit's "guys" from key city jobs, contracts, committees and other positions of political influence in and around Chicago. Hoffman already has a road map to most of these clowns.

As far as liberal views, the Mayor does not set social or domestic policy or agendas like they do in DC. Besides, they will be so busy trying to root out the corruption, that I don't see much else going on in a liberal sense.

Most of the embarrassing for the Mayor stuff going on right now with the Office of the Inspector General regarding patronage hiring and the recommended suspension of Daley's hand picked executive director of the mayor's Office of Compliance, is stuff begun when Hoffman held the IG position before his US Senate bid. Hoffman knows where many of the "bodies are buried", but as the IG, he was not given the authority to dig for them.

I'd say this is the PERFECT time to unseat Daley and Hoffman is the PERFECT candidate to do it, if he has it in him to run again so soon after the failed campaign for the U S Senate.

From the Reader:

"Hoffman's got some of his own money, but he just spent $1 million of it in the primary. He's got a record of fighting for good government, but lots of aldermen and Democratic insiders write him off as a self-promoting pipsqueak. He's smart and credible, but not always stirring. He might have to be drafted, but if he got into the race, Hoffman could make it very, very interesting".

"If we're talking about city services—collecting garbage, clearing snow—they were delivered every bit as well under Byrne, Washington, and Sawyer as they are today. As for the hard stuff, like creating high-paying jobs, eradicating poverty, making sure poor kids do as well in school as rich ones—on those matters Daley's as clueless as every other mayor".

There will be too many alternate and shill candidates for a challenger to win the mayoral election outright. A challenger's (Hoffman) only hope would be to force a runoff election if no candidate got 50%.

Then it would be a horse race. I would love to see it but however weak and unpopular daley is, he still knows how to fight dirty and Hoffman doesn't have a clue about that.

Only winning matters and Hoffman fights fair. Daley will win eventually and we will continue to get fucked.

They're broke, well, tough, they shouldn't have wasted so much money over the years, not our fault! City Hall is just a big pirate ship now, and everybody knows it. When doing your damndest to play by the rules isn't good enough...we get MAD.

Yet, My squad car had over a hundred thousand miles on it and the Mars lights burnt out half way through the tour!

Oh WELL! At least be safe and go home to your families!

He wins again. He finds votes all over the city, not from people who read the Reader or who visit this blog. We are the minority. The votes are found in neighborhoods that you never visit. In old age homes, institutions, skid roiw flop houses, churches that you never hear about. They are out there and the Daley people know where to find them. He will win again by another landslide. You will not vote for him, none of your friends will vote for him, and you will wonder why your candidate lost. He is not a loser. This is his game. He will be the mayor and Obama will get a health care program. Some how some way, they get it. We don't.

Very appropriate picture...

It captures the true spirit and essence of the stuttering prick!

Since this buffoon always paints a picture of himself as a dedicated father/family man and public servant, we offer this rebuttal...

He's fucked over many a dedicated father and family men with no pay raises in the face of increased taxes, fees and cost of living. This resulted in a loss of income tantamount to the pay cut he wants us to take in the first place.

We would hazard that over the last three years, the typical Policeman has seen an earnings decline something to the tune of 30%

OH BOY!

We can't wait for the shit-talkers to rev themselves up into a frenzy when/if our contract is approved and we get raises and retro. Of course shit-shorts and the alderfools are going to raises taxes, fees & fines through the roof and blame the Police for "being greedy" and that these hard economic times are all our fault.

...Fuck every last one of you.

Policemen don't vote on and approve budgets or financial policy. The mayor and alderfools do.

Policemen don't approve sweet-heart deals, the mayor and alderfools do.

Policemen don't approve clouted construction projects that are never on time, always over budget and with built in cost overruns, the mayor and the alderfools do.

The only thing Policemen are truly guilty of is reacting to being pissed on and starving the city near to death with greatly diminished ticket writing and other revenue generation.

42 extra-short says "how dare you stop collecting MY MONEY!"

His reaction was to hire all the assorted bust outs & rejects you see crawling all over the city in a desperate attempt to keep the revenue train running.

Any REAL family man worth his salt would say "You know what? I really don't blame these guys for reacting the way they did because I was pissing on them. I would've done the same thing in their position... Let's do right by them and make them whole so we can try to fix this."

NOT!

Typical of the one way, shit-hole dictator who has it all and doesn't want to share...

Shorty has been pampered and cared for all his life. He has no idea what a real adult care or concern is.

"Fuck you, pay me!"

We hope Arbitrator Benn saw short-shanks for the bully and coward he is...

Shorty is full of shit... Plenty of money out there and he can balance the city budget with a phone call... Greedy, selfish, three-card monte TIF fund having muthafuckah!

Fuck the shit-talkers too... Coward-asses wanted to have nothing to do with being the Police when they were flush and had fat 401K's when times were good but now that things are tough they have LOTS of opinions about our quest to be fairly compensated and talk plenty shit about "fat pensions & early retirement, fire 'em all & we'll work for half with no pension or health care."

Clueless, uninformed and classless to advocate taking something out of someone else's mouth that they earned just because you're pissed. Get over it! Admit you didn't have the nerve to stand in our line to do what we do and move on with your lives.

42 extra-short has tried like a muthafuckah to infect EVERYONE with this feverish, short sighted anti-Police thinking.

The art and science of political fuckery demonstrated on a daily basis!

Only in Chicago can such a thing breed and thrive.

Why is it that a certain alderperson from the 34th ward DT thinks its ok to let her grandson who has a suspended dl to drive around roseland on her caddy blasting sounds and drawing attention to himself. Its nice to see that she is exempt from city stickers too since she had a lost/sten one affixed to her windshield. How much you want she doesn't have to pay all the impound and tow fees. Glad to see someone did their job and impounded this car. Hate to see this kid kill someone and the city have to pay more cash since his alderwoman grandma knowingly lets his suspended ass drive her caddy.

3/15/2010 05:59:00 AM

*******************

Carrie Austin is bordering on Official Misconduct, using her office to influence the direction of police investigations. She was pissed at having to pay impound fees for her grandson's suspended license while driving her car, and took it out on the police all day today.
Didn't a north side alderman nearly catch a lot of legal trouble last year for bitching and moaning about getting ticketed for talking on the cellphone, and ordered the then commander of 23 to bring him his license with I bond? (might have been 2 years ago??) That's not even as bad. Everyone knows her grandson in Area 2 and the fact he has a suspended license because Carrie always raises hell whenever he gets pulled over. She either plays the race card against officers or calls African American officers "Uncle Tom's" if they "have the nerve" to write him.

So many less people that will people that require Congressional representation, allocation of federal revenue programs and so on.

When I fill out my form I am counting my beagle and her three pups. I may even get Social Security numbers for them. Hell, when they're 18 in dog years I'll get Voters Cards for 'em!

I wish they were born before the first of the year, I could have used the tax deductions. I got to remember to sign them up for their LINK cards!
