- Jerome Hendricks dug his hands into his pockets, slumped his shoulders and wept. His daughter's blood -- from when he had cradled her tiny body the night before -- stained the oversized black jacket that draped his shaking body.
Upstairs, inside Comer Children's Hospital, his 20-month-old daughter Cynia was dying Thursday morning. And he believed that the bullet lodged in her head -- killing her less than an hour later -- was meant for him.
What isn't tragic is that this child and the others are being transported around at 1 and 2 in the morning when they should be in bed, away from the nonsense that comes out at night.
We've also noticed a disturbing phenomenon lately. On a number of occasions, we have seen male subjects carrying infants around. The males are dressed in the uniform of the day, baggy jeans and white t-shirts, while the infants are dressed contrasting colors and being carried out front rather obviously. It was striking enough to catch our notice more than once.
After this shooting, we're afraid we may have discovered the reason for heretofore inattentive fathers suddenly taking an interest in the child:

I've spoken to offenders who have admitted to transporting guns or drugs in car seats or strollers. I've also spoken to disgruntled "babies-mama's" who have stated that the fathers only take an interest in their child when they need to hide dope or a pistol.
Was on scene. I understand your point about the infant shields but in this case the child along with her 4 year old and 4 month old siblings were in the car at 11:00 at night...in my world babies are at home and long have been asleep.
By the way the mut who was shooting at daddy and killed the baby did not turn him self in with the aide of Rev. Meeks but was brought in by 6th district tact.

This is simply an evolution of years of using young kids to cover for the culture of scum that runs the streets today. Unfortunately, for this kid, the "human shield" didn't work.
And the mothers are no better for allowing it to happen. Children and babies should be in bed at 9pm, not roaming the street with their once a week daddy, uncle, or whatever.
The worse it gets, the more I think some University should do a documentary of these sub-human animals. Follow them around 24-7 and learn how they manage to survive by pimping the system and wreaking havoc. All they do is drink, fuck, smoke dope, sleep, steal and drain resources. The facts the neighbor a Chicago police crossing guard was getting ready to cross the kids,in her uniform when a male black in full (Yes) full USPS uniform came to her door,rang and bell and told her she had to sign for the package. She opened her door the black "mailman" and a white guy about 25 years old with a mask partially on his face forced her back into the home,threw her on the follor,used heavy duct tape,pulled a gun,beat her. Then talked about raping her,they called her by her given name, and talked about her husband coming home,as they tore apart her home taking a loaded rifle among other things. The exact address and name of this crossing guard can be known to CPD and an investigative reporter by pulling the report from beat 811! Tell your families to be careful, the scumbags are here! I talked to 1 copper on the scene who was driving a new Ford explorer think he was from the airport,and wanted to go talk to the neighbor,but the copper said he called for the Et and did not want the crime scene trampled,my neighbor was hurt almost killed! Why are the newspapers trying to make everyone feel sorry for this guy? I feel bad for the children of course. However, no civilian gets shot at unless they are up to no good. I cant remember when the last time anyone in my neighborhood got shot at. I cant even remember the last time a police car, fire engine or ambulance was on my block for a job, except at block parties. And our block doesn't even have a sign posted stating what the block club doesn't allow.
I've been working in the ghetto for 15 years now. Regular people just will never understand how these people live. Any time I try and tell a story, for example how a resident walks out his front door, finishes his Big Red Pop, then throws the empty bottle into his own bushes, I get called a racist and say I'm making it up. How am I a racist when I am just telling what I saw? I don't even mention the color of the people's skin or imitate their accent. I have so many stories of events I've witnessed that would shock even the most hardcore liberal. No one could even make up stories like these if they tried.

Ofnd# 2 M/2 with ski mask. Tide up and beat homeowner(city worker) and trashed house. Stole a rifle from closet. Had some knowledge of the families comings and goings. BE CAREFUL and imform your family others in your community. This is not just a 008th dist problem. This is happening all over.

Fuck you. 006 district coppers did a great job bringing the thug in, but they wouldn't have a clue who they were looking for if the case wasn't put together by the dets. How are the arresting coppers gonna get screwed since they intiated the arrest report? Yes, a computer generated report where dets. can't rip up a arrest report and make a new one?
This wasn't a big "who dunnit?" Alerts were issued by det.division so the whole city knew who was wanted for this crime. Regardless to what you think (which isn't much), most dets appreciate other outside units assistance in these matters. Maybe some day you may become a detective and understand ... and then maybe not.
Women have always used children as "human shields" in confrontations with police; knock on the door over some lawn-sprinkler s__t and they grab up whatever's available and cradle it. B___h is a truck driver with arms like Popeye, but suddenly turns into kindly Grandma when she's caused a problem with the neighbors.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is scheduled to execute a convicted killer by firing squad on June 18 after a judge signed a warrant for his execution.
State court Judge Robin Reese signed the warrant Friday morning in a Salt Lake City courtroom.
The 49-year-old Gardner has been on Utah's death row for 25 years. After Reese said Gardner's avenues for appeal are exhausted and that he would sign the warrant, Gardner said "I would like the firing squad, please."
Gardner would be the first death row inmate executed since Joseph Mitchell Parsons died by lethal injection in 1999.
Gardner was sentenced to death in 1985 for the Salt Lake City courthouse slaying of attorney Michael Burdell during a failed escape attempt.
Gardner's attorney says an appeal is planned.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is scheduled to execute a convicted killer by firing squad on June 18 after a judge signed a warrant for his execution.
State court Judge Robin Reese signed the warrant Friday morning in a Salt Lake City courtroom.
The 49-year-old Gardner has been on Utah's death row for 25 years. After Reese said Gardner's avenues for appeal are exhausted and that he would sign the warrant, Gardner said "I would like the firing squad, please."
Gardner would be the first death row inmate executed since Joseph Mitchell Parsons died by lethal injection in 1999.
Gardner was sentenced to death in 1985 for the Salt Lake City courthouse slaying of attorney Michael Burdell during a failed escape attempt.
Gardner's attorney says an appeal is planned.

I'm a civilian that works late in the loop occasionally. I've seen the baby momma's dragging these poor kids down the street heading to the subway, west. The poor little kids are so tired, they're almost unconscious. Yeah, on "school nights"...and my guess is they're headin' to the crack house. But that's just me.

OT: The Safe City grievance award has been handed down by Arbitrator Benn. I doubt many will like this one either. Here is one particularly obnoxious portion of the decision:
"the Department proposed that there be certain performance-based criteria for eligibility for the officers in Title Code 9161, specifically:
1. Issuance of five parking citations in 30 days;
2. Issuance of five moving citations in 30 days;
3. Acquisition of five contact cards in 30 days;
4. Three physical arrests within 30 days;
5. Two curfew and/or truancy activities within 30 days.

Benn selected the City's proposal as "more reasonable" and that is that. Quota are now the law of the land as far as selection to Safe City Special Employment. You can bet that quotas like this will now be required all over this Department for almost everything.
So when you are writing that person a mover or arresting someone you can tell them quite correctly that they are getting that ticket or are being arrested because of Chicago Police Department mandated quota requiring you to do these things in order to work overtime initiatives.
Got that Sun-Times and Tribune and law firms across the City: QUOTAS are now a documented part of required police procedure. There is no appealing the arbitrator's decision either, that is that.

Just one thing, if the final step in arguing something with the city is taking it to arbitration and then arbitration goes against us police officers, how is that then the FOP's fault? How would anyone do it differently?

Enough with the whining about who gets credit for the arrest. It's disgusting. If you wanted a pat on the back for doing your job you should have joined the Fire Department.
Medals for showing up for work and trophies for everyone. This country is truly in trouble.
Plenty of times we checked the babies and baby carriages, diaper bags etc.... I would say it was about 50/50 you came up with dope in that stroller.
Another thing i found interesting was the "ROOSTER Hairdo's"on the ladies with the red, purple, blonde hair extensions put in... I happened to see a nice baggy hanging out of more then one of those lovely westside tres chic do's.
Nauseates me to, to hear they are now sinking to an even lower level (if that is possible) with using the children as human shields.

There are no 9161's in the Marine Unit or Mounted Unit except for a couple of administrative people.
Those units are filled with D2 officers.
This is just the beginning, it will spread to more and more special employment and various initiatives as the department sees fit. The arbitrator ruled, now it is law of the land, CPD wise.

Amen! Don't be fooled by the tears or apparent regret. Even criminals can be reduced to human beings with needs according to Maslow. Parent or not- these are selfish individuals that do not consider the consequences of their actions. I hate to say it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that same guy arrested for poppin' one in a member of the offending party. Thugs just don't see the warp in their logic and never will.
