The full Council meets 09 June.
Remember, the arbitrator's decision was handed down on 16 April. That's only 39 days ago. The city has 120 days to process/respond/approve.
We don't expect much movement until July.

God forbid they should give us our retro a little earlier than the 120 days.
Those fuckers are sure to get their money on time.
They will probably wait until the last possible moment to give us anything. Vote them ALL OUT next election.

Lawsuit filed in federal court today by police sergeants who want to be paid overtime for their use of the blackberrys while they're not at work. Lets see if they get sent to patrol where blackberrys aren't necessary.

So what this means since the FOP cant get their shit together is our contract is brought up in Committee on 08 June 10, when it is passed it will then be brought to a vote for the aldermorons on 09June 10. Then if dipshit Daley refuses to sign off on it (which he has done in the past and you know that he will do again even though an officer just died protecting his kingdom) we wait until 09 July 10 because our contract, by law, takes effect 30 days from the passage from the aldermorons. So in a nutshell, the first paycheck you will see from the new contract will be 16 July 10. Retro check issuance will be around the second or third week of August around Billiken.

We have known that the city will sit on our $$ until the last minute, 120 days from 30 Apr 2010.
Go to a meeting now and then and learn something.

You missed my point completely. What I was commenting on is the lack of information posted on the FOP website and I was offering information to officers that may have been wondering what the contract process was because if you’re going to wait for information from the FOP website, you’ll be dead before you find out. The sad thing is I find out more shit about the job from SCC quicker than from the FOP’s; now that is sad. Shit the newspapers had our contract information at least 5 hours before anything was posted on our circa 1995 designed website. It is truly an embarrassing and pathetic website.
Speaking of learning something, someone needs to learn how to get information out quicker to FOP members.
the council is in recess after the june meeting until sept., if they don't vote the 50 cowards will just let the taxpayers pay interest simple as that!
I can guarantee Ed Burke will push this through given he's the Finance Committee Chair and pro-police so we don't have to wait 120 days. He does have a police escort and all.

Sgts are unbelieveable Already get 3/4 hr a day, duty availability, uniform allowance, quarterly check and now they want to be paid for carrying a blackberry. As one said if they dont want to carry a blackberry leave their great job and go to patrol

One would think with the SUMMER OF BLOOD fast approaching that Daley would want to keep the under manned CPD Officers happy by paying the RETRO as early as Possible.
But in true Daley fashion and because its the Police he will wait till the very last day to make good on the money owed.
The big question is that how much is Daley willing to risk.
How much business from the tourists to the conventions will be lost due to the violence.
When will this stuttering idiot learn that if he keeps the CPD happy and let them do their jobs the City will be much better off.
However as has been said in the past Daley does not give a shit about this City or it's Citizens.

The committee will meet. They will table the vote till the next meeting, but still expect you to do your job! The the same will happen in June.

Alderman Burke- I am a P.O. with some time on and I just wanted to tell you that Burke does care. I met him prior to becoming the Police, and he has done nothing but help me with all my bullshit C.R. # from I.A.D. He has his finger on the pulse more than Daley himself. Burke has never failed me and has been consistent. He likes the working Police and he will go to bat for you in a heartbeat. JM
here is a good one... december 2008 my personal vehicle struck several giant potholes, causing both front tires to blow out and causing rim damage. i generated a police report and filed a claim with the city for damage to vehicle. april 2009 my claim was referred to the finance committee. i called to follow up regarding the status of the claim yesterday. i was told that the fund for this sort of claim has run out of money. i will need to wait until after january of 2011 before any payment is mailed out. try this with your water bill or city sticker. what a joke! wait over two years?

Hey, if they don't fight for this then what is going to be stuck up your ass next and you're told to like it.
The fact of the matter is - if they're required to do work during non-working hours they're to be paid plain and simple. Hells bells lets hope they sue for mandatory 24 hour pay, because having the blackberry makes them on stand-by (payable hours).
This is the sort of stuff you do fight for, because the Sergeant's job is the WORST job on this department. New made up jobs fall to them, PO don't want to make a decision - call a sgt it falls to them, etc, etc .......

Just guessing, but I think the point isn't 'being paid for carrying a blackberry', but more like, being forced to answer it at all hours of the day and night and not being paid for it.
If they want you to work 24/7, they should pay for the privilege. Last I heard, we had shifts and days off and our comp time was our own. NOT the department's.

Though I am not a Sgt, I wish them well in being compensated for having to Dept. related tasks (answering a Blackberry) in their off hours. Remember, if you ever want to advance in this job, you will go thru the Sgt's ranks and be subject to the very same bullshit that they are dealing with now. My time is by definition that MY TIME. If you want it, PAY ME. Good luck, Sgts.
I have to laugh when someone tells me I have the worst job on this Department. I just smile and walk away. While my job may not be as nice as a field Lt's, I assure you it is not the worst. As a matter of fact, I would even consider saying it might be one of the best. I really enjoy it.
