Dangerous Neighborhoods
- Collectively, according to a Chicago Reporter analysis, Chicago's 11th and 15th police districts on the West Side had a higher murder rate last year than New Orleans, the nation's deadliest city in 2009. Meanwhile, on the South Side, collectively, the 6th and 7th districts had a higher rate of violent crime than St. Louis, the nation's leading city for violent crime per capita in 2009.
In 2009, the 6th, 7th, 11th and 15th police districts had the four highest murder rates, among Chicago's 25 police districts. Those districts were also home to four of the city's five highest rates of violent crime.
So is there any way we can encourage these parts of town to secede from Chicago? Or the better-behaved portions can take their votes and tax money and leave for the 'burbs?

This is nothing new. Homicides spiked in the late 60's and remained in a range until the recent drop in the last few years. The highest numbers were always in certain areas of the South and West sides of the city. Until the middle 70's the Department issued an annual report type document which listed criminal activity by district. However, this revelation of the criminal locus in quo was politically unacceptable. So, the report was discontinued. At one time only NYC and LA exceeded Area Four in homicides.
Every shithead in 023 is A pussy. Uptown is run by baby Jesus and some other punk because they do not have other predators to contend with. Drop those two on 63/Ashland, 79/ Ashland , 79/ cottage ,63/king ,57/Racine and see how they fare. Uptown is a bunch of homeless piss bums, sex predators living in shelters and ghetto rats that move their to retire from the south side ghetto.

oh yeah, what has been preached on this blog since day one---- this city is home to some of the most ruthless and violent people in america... how does a normal law abiding citizen raise a family and conduct business in a city filled with criminals and cutthroats--- being a city of chicago employee means you have to live in this cesspool--- save your money and experience life outside this shit hole and get out as soon as you can and take your kids with you.... recently I drove thru some old haunts where I spent a lot of time and was shocked at what has happened to some of these neighborhoods--- specifically roseland and marquette park--- sad, so very sad--- you used to see 90 year old women cutting the grass with scissors, church folk who looked out for each other and banded together when someone needed help--- a community espirit de corps that was genuine.... now it is all gone, replaced with heartless monsters who prey upon the weak and destroy the moral fabric of a peace loving society--- I wish I had twenty years back because I would have bolted if I knew that it was going to turn out like this--- sorry for the rant, I just want to be a peaceful person who cares for his fellow man and tries to help others who are in need....

soryy to say it, but 023rd does NOT compare to all the other districts on the south or west side. I have worked in 023 for a while, and the few mopes can be easily control, unlike the animals in the other parts of the city.

Maybe 50 or 75 or 100 years from now, but for the immediate future, a lot of Chicago has been ceded to permanent ghettoness, regardless of how nice the architecture is.
Urban Detroit has some of the most amazing architecture, too...

Not to be a downer, but what do the stats look like if you compare the worst of Chicago to the worst of StL, LA, etc. To say that if those districts were cities they'd be the worst is cherry picking. Compare cherries and let us know.
