Poll Numbers Don't Matter
- Mayor Daley is defending his performance in light of a new poll that shows he has record low job approval ratings.
When asked by reporters about the Tribune survey of Chicago voters that had his approval at 37 percent, the mayor initially brushed aside the subject saying the numbers don’t matter.
Instead of worrying about poll numbers, Daley said politicians should focus on their actions.
Oh. OK. Let's do that. Explain McCormick Place. Explain the parking meter fiasco. Explain TIF corruption. Cost overruns at Millennium Park, the Monroe garage, the O'Hare expansion, just about every project under the sun, illegal hiring of unqualified minors, inspectors, blatant cronyism and fixed promotions.....

The only way he leaves office is when he dies. Face it we are stuck w him and he knows it. He is unbeatable.

I wonder why they even mention that suburban voters approve of the job he is doing? I've never been polled about what is going on in the suburbs! If I ever was I am sure that I would be told to worry about my own town. I do realize that Chicago's policies impact the burbs but it is inconsequential what they think in terms of electing the mayor
Poll numbers DON'T matter!
The only numbers that matter are on election day and the voters apparently are not the same people who are polled by the media.
Besides, these media polls are just a way for the Daley Crime Family to figure out how many million$ it's going to cost to buy the next election.
* The little evil genius gets his media whores to pay for the poll so HE doesn't have to.
* He finds out WHO dares to open their mouth about running against him.
* He gets about the business of digging up their skeletons or setting them up like he did to Miriam Santos.
* Then, he again enlists the help of his media whores when he leaks to them any dirt or skeletons he digs up on the other candidates, destroying their reputations, which will now make their mayoral run impossible.
In the meantime, the poll that the media did will hand the Crime Family a road map, of sorts, that will show them exactly where to turn to locate the discontent from the voters. Now he has months to go out and spend city million$ to clean up neighborhoods, put in new sidewalks, a few more streetscapes etc. so that, right before the election, people will feel LESS NEGATIVE about him and either figure "what the hell" and vote for him AGAIN, or at least not vote at all thus taking a vote away from his opponent.
There IS a method to the little evil genius' MADNESS!

Daley won't answer these questions, he hasn't been to a debate in over 3 elections only staged press conferences. I can't believe the media, voters or candidates haven't demanded for mumbles to have a side by side debate!!!!!

He's going to do whatever he wants to do.
His ego will over-ride any semblance of sense.
As long as he's in office, he's clearly got nothing to lose. He just doesn't care.

His son Patrick is already a millionaire from an illegal city contract scheme that netted him and his cousin, Robert Venecko, their first trust funds. Venecko later got five city pension funds to invest nearly $70 million in a scheme to redevelop South side real estate.
Patrick Daley, in the meantime, is "wetting his beak" with other members of the Daley Crime Family and apparently is in business with a billionaire Russian, who also, COINCIDENTALLY, got a huge # of Chicago taxi cab licenses for his company, and is apparently the Russian Mob member of the Crime Family.
The younger Daley doesn't seem to have the stomach for politics. Nor does he seem to want to stay around long after he commits his crimes. He's sort of a hit & run kind of criminal, but, considering the inheritance he can expect from daddy Shortshanks, he can probably just retire now and spend his days drowning himself in Russian Vodka, caviar and orgies with Russian mail-order-wife wannabe's

Not a bad idea, not bad at all.
I just can't wait to vote Daley out!
In Denver a long time entrenched incumbent lost following him doing a comprable thing to what has transpired in Chicago regarding parking meters. The winner of that came from out of no where. History repeats its self!
Seeing as how the whole system is corrupt and controlled by the machine.What "normal" alternatives does one have??
