I think it is time that maybe some of their questionable employee practices and behaviors be brought to light, too, with those names being made public. I am pretty sure that there would be at least 2 faces disappearing from their airwaves.
They should be worried more so of a big butthead look-a-like roaming the area to get his fat fed head in front of a camera to save his job.

OT - Meeks in Chicago Tonight/WTTW interview says he'd dump Weis and look for FOP recommendations for the next Superintendent. If you don't want to lose 17 minutes of your life listening to the whole interview, the Weis/FOP comments come in at about 6:50 minutes in.

If it is regarding Fabulous, I welcome the investigation. This kid has been on some type of leave, i.e. iod, medical etc., for over 5 years and only has 7 years on the job.
The FOP should be working on a incentive plan, that could be incorporated into our contract, that would give officers extra BFD's or P Days for not utilizing the medical.
Why don't they send Mr. "I was extorted by my crack dealer" and everyone's favorite media hype Hosea Sanders down to sniff around?
Oh that's right he kept his job after admitting to smoking crack and being caught up in a jackpot with his dealer.
Any copper does that he is stripped, fired and probably hitting lockup after the media outlets run it for weeks straight.
A minority, media, parasite gets a heartfelt "oh it wasn't your fault, you have a problem" followed by the network sweeping it right under the rug.

Well I can't speak for the whole 2nd district, but there is an old M/1 do-nothing who has made a career of being IOD. He's riding his latest bullshit IOD into retirement in a few months. This clown has more IOD and medical more than work time.
Seems he has a protege too. Younger guy, M/2, with maybe 10 years on. Another who seems to worship at the IOD and medical altar.
Speaking of Meeks, I hope nobody is seriously falling for his courting of FOP as a reason to vote for him. Remember what he did to that white sgt. in 005. Actions speak louder than words. I actually have heard a copper say that they thought he might not be bad!
The question that needs to be asked is what got Ch 7 sniffing around 23. Every unit has people on the medical.
The IOD abuser, got hurt after his first day of leaving the Tact team. This bipolar goof fell down the "slippery station stairs" twice this year. Now, his old partner will be held accountable for "witnessing" his false claims.

Convalescent Duty the biggest scam besides the Full Medical. And why are these lazy actors still entitled to get "duty availablity" quarterly. Can't wear a uniform, but come to work in flip-flops and pj's, no weapon, ID or even spend a full 8 hrs behind a desk in a secluded back office. Now that's a scandal.

Over the Past several years I have spent the occasional tour of duty working in the 2nd district. Every time I have come away with headaches, sinus, throat and lung problems.
That building is TOXIC, everyone who works there know it. The E.P.A. should check it out and close it down.
Goudie made a fool of himself with that, "Hidden Treasure" piece about Duty Availability and Uniform checks.
“Alderman Beale, didn't you vote on and did not the mayor approve those FOP contracts?” That question was not asked.
Problem is people believe any kind of crap if it is on TV no matter what.
I don't have any sympathy for people trying to fake IOD's or medical roll abusers. All they do is make it harder for the legit officers. Screw um, they deserve what they get!
I work in 023 and was injured when I statrted laughing because Jose Saunders drug dealer was blackmailing him. Thats the story run with it Chuckie.
Anita has ordered her Public Integrity Unit to review all police abuse settlements over $100k for the past five years. They will use the depositions of "victims" and witnesses to charge the involved officers.
The first is this Park Ridge Lt. There are supposed to be around 50 Chicago cases being reviewed for criminal charges.

As I posted before and will post again. Meeks is a police hater. Remember the incident a few years back with the white sergeant in 005who stopped his car for running a stop sign and Meeks made a phony racial beef?
Only thing that saved the sergeant from being thrown under the bus was that an independent witness who was black saw the whole thing and told the truth, saving the sergeant's ass. It pains me to be one to defend the media even if just partially, but come on now you mean to tell me that you don't see any difference between them and us?

And that's after he came back to work LAST December after being on the medical for 9 months! What a piece of shit this guy is. How a guy can claim a serious back injury and be seen riding on his Harley in the 'burbs on a regular basis is beyond me.

Soo true my friend. Light duty is abused by anyone trying to avoid details and to protect their 2nd watch spot. I hear some officers have been light duty over 10 years. Where is the acountability for this? Require them to have annual or semi annual evaluations. It is way too easy to abuse the light duty status.
He probably went IOD to get away from the mush capt. TL and all of his ass**le sgts that do his bidding. 23 should be a great place to work but is ruined by the bosses...even more so then the rest of the dept. TL, your father should be ashamed of you

I for one can never figure out why anyone would risk this great job by abusing the medical or lying about iod. It is absolutely dumbfounding. We have a great job with great income, a SECURE JOB, lots of time off, etc...

that's what the medical integrity unit is for....I just wonder if they give these people the training to do 24 hr. surveillance with all the bells and whistles that goes along with it, i.e. hi- tech cameras, covert cars, etc. This is the same stuff PI's do for insurance and disability fraud. Visuals and good documentation will get these bums off the medical in a flash....or fired.

Maybe they could investigate T. H. She's assigned to 009 but detailed to unit 123. She's been convalescent duty for 2-3 years now. Some type of bullshit knee injury from when she was in bike unit. She's convalescent duty allright she's in outstanding physical shape, walks without any sort of limp and routinely would work out like a Pilates instructor in 009 dist workout room(during her "work" hours of course).

Yes, we are accountable for our actions and we DO have the power to take someone's freedom or even life. However, any ACTUAL police officer will tell you that the person that decides to threaten our lives or an innocent bystander's life, or the person that decides to sell drugs, rob people etc, is actually making his or her own decision to get locked up or killed. With every action you take, you must accept all of the possible consequences. Honestly, I think you're a little confused and just like to rant and swear a lot. Take it easy.

We've all got stories from other Areas also. I couldn't weave them into a fairy tale. Like my old Sgt. once said "there is no shame on this job" - sad but true
then these guys come back to work like nothing happened - hey same ole same ole. We had one guy who was denied a duty disability by the pension board (kudos to the pension board BTW) for an IOD that I would have been embarassed to take 2 days off for - but he stretched it into a whole year, a whole fucking year, only coming back due to the disability denial. Now he walks around like nothing happened, more pompous than ever. Hey. no prob, you dog.
23 district is the biggest soap opera in the city. Most coppers dont have a clue, and the ones who know wont show anyone because theres no trust there. Alot of wonders who think they know. Watch, listen and learn.

Good for you. We all get angry at people that are abusing the medical system. However, it's not fair for people to make judgemnets on people without knowing any facts. Quite frankly, your medical/iod status is nobody's business but your own. The department will find the ones cheating the system. We have created such a stigma with being on the medical that everyone wants to talk shit about anyone that has to use it. It's there for a reason and people that need it should be able to use it without feeling pressured by a bunch of whiny co-workers. Hope you get well soon.

It looks like those who have been on the.med for over a year have been followed and the media got in on it.
023 had a minor "issue" regarding an IOD, but there is NOTHING more to any other rumors. I think the person meant another District in the south side......check your typing, before you post. BIG difference between 003 and 023. OOPS did I just do that!
