So is this proper?
- I Bid to 051 just missed bid,now it turns out 1 copper that barely beat me won bid all fair and square. Now my friend works on mayors (soon criminal will be gone daleys),detail,tells me that the guy who beat me decided to stay on 35th and normal to continue answering the phone at lol "command post," and will stay until mayor leaves. So I call the command post for shits and giggles the copper answers the phone,same copper who won the bid. OK let me understand this you can bid out of anywhere,then tell the bosses fuck you i don't want to go yet,get that spot saved as you take another spot that you like better until it is gone! I feel like Kramer in a Seinfeld episode "this shit just blew my mind again"!
We suppose if you bid, then got "re-detailed" back to Detached Services, that would be the proper way to go about it. But remember, these Airport openings were in response to Federal money being allocated for bodies at the airport that weren't actually at the airport. So holding back a slot would certainly seem counter productive, especially with Federal dollars needing to be accounted for.

Again SCC the spirits of the air bring up a very good point! Federal money and this chicanery! Heard he was from 009 not detached services,as he was just the "phone guy"! Is it the usual "Money hustle"going on"! If this money comes from the feds and this happened,where would the money to pay this coppers salary flow to? It happens all the time, people in units snatch up bid spots and just get detailed from the new district they bid for w/o actually going to that district. I would think they would actually want the body considering the need for more police in the airports, oh well.
The affected copper must have had a momentary lapse of reality to think things were legitimate here on the CPD.
He or she must have a decent amount of time on the job to come that close to making the airport on a bid, so in theory he or she SHOULD be wise to the shenanigans played at the expense of us unclouted pawns in patrol.
All this considered, my question to this copper is: DOES ANY OF THIS SHIT SURPRISE YOU?

A few days ago the same WC says somebody from our district won a bid to Midway airport. One of the guys on my watch (an old timer with 20+ years and more seniority than the guy who won the bid to Midway) mentions to the WC that nothing was said about Midway having openings when he read the announcement the week before, just O'Hare. The 20+ guy lives near Midway and said he would have bid for it if he had known Midway also had openings. Something is definitely wrong here.

Obviously some clout fuck wanted to guarantee an eventual soft landing place. This is the strength of character (or lack thereof) on display of the type of lice that warms a chair at a unit like that "answering the phone."
His name ought to be published. File a grievance anyway. Get someone to help with the wording and force MLAS to come up with a reason the low class officer bid for a unit he had no intention of going to right away, if ever, and why his clout caused his detail back to the vital assignment of "answering the phone."
If they are going to protect these fucks, make them do so on paper.

I have known coppers who have been detailed out for years while still taking up space on the district seniority list. They wanted to make sure that if they ever got dumped, they would have a soft spot to land.
If they are REALLY good, when they get back to their old district, they either take a spot from some other copper or have a mystery spot created for them.
But hey, it's all legit.
I know that couple of days before the start of the period, after the transfer order was out, a phone call informed the CO of Midway that she was getting another PO in addition to those on the order.
So much for 50/50.

Yup, I'll tell you whats wrong.
20+ years on and this sharpie can't figure out when bids comes out and which units have openings. The watch commander is under no obligation to read the bids, he did it as a courtesy. The contract states that the bids have to be posted. That is the only notice required.

I’m sure the w/c mentioned it a roll call but half of the coppers were probably fucking around on their cell phones when he was reading the c/o book plus anytime there are bids most of the time there posted on the FOP bulletin board and the c/o book is not the lost ark of the covenant dummy you can read it for yourself. So cry me a river build a bridge and walk across it too bad.

Nothing is going on, the bids were posted in the co book and posted on the wall, tell the old-timer to open his eyes and don't depend on what the w/c says..

the entire process is BS. My dumb ass put in a resume for the academy openings posted in the daily bulletin only to be told by a friend who talked to a high ranking friend of his that those were BS postings and nothing is going to happen. Obviously meaning either they had their guys and girls picked already or it was a BS posting to appease people and make it appear as though something is really happening but truly is not. Im not a clout hack and never have been but I amuse myself and continue to put resumes in for shit. This time I considered intelligence and then decided thats a waste too because its the same shit with this dept. There are retirements at both airports scheduled for after 11Nov, (even more next year) It's likely that Management picked their choices sooner to fill the spots required by the Fed mandate hires. (detailed now to backfill anticipated openings), To the goober who couldn't bid out because "nobody told him", keep checking those faxes that come out 2 weeks before change day, word is the next airport bids are scheduled for Oct 2011. But there might be a promotional exam coming up, watch for that too. To everyone else, tell someone your intentions so they'll look out for you if your off so this won't happen again.

If we're talking about the same person, he actually has 7 years on. And let me tell you, he has been "taken care of" since the academy (which he couldn't pass without some special help at the last mintue from his clout). He makes no secret about the fact that he is a huge clout baby either. He has been nothing but lazy since he hit the street 6 and 1/2 years ago. Now he's taking a nice retirement spot from somebody that actually WORKED for it. Not that I'm surprised by any of it, I just find it shamefull.
I used to put in resumes, too. It was a swimsuit competition. They interviewed me a few times, no questions about me or the job. Complete waste of time. Writing sample, recommendations...go fuck yourself.

There are a couple clout hacks that have less then 7 years on who got spots. One of them, RS, couldn't pass the power test and sat in the academy being tken care of until he got the "special" power test. MO from 25 is another hack who thinks he is gods gift to the police world. Clout babies taking spots away from guys who worked hard for 20+ years. Nice!

The only way they'd keep that pay rate us if they opt to retire and they were a "security specialist" for at least the last 3 years.

D-3 security specialist is a made up rank to appease the politicians,no extra training unless you want to talk about the bullshit class that you took 1 day 4 hours LOL! It is an EXEMPT rank when you leave the detail your back to D-1,as far as SAM goes he was told told retire due to his overstepping his bounds with the girl he put at O'Hare then moved her to Midway! Seems the real bosses did not like a patrolman telling them what to do! Heard also the "Guys down the street"are looking at antics on that detail,along with the guys on the treasurers and Burkes detail,looking at time sheets,and other things! I am just a poor beat copper but if I were them I would be "Afraid very afraid"!

The problem I have with RS is that he has been lazy since the academy. He couldn't even pass the power test. He hasn't done any real work since he's been out, and now he's using his clout yet again to get to a spot that should be for someone that has worked hard. I have no clout. No phone calls, no friends in high places. I have never begrudged people that have worked and then used a phone call to get somewhere that they're hard work wouldn't otherwise let them get to. However, someone that has been making phone calls since before even being sworn, can deal with the backlash from co-workers.
