Mandatory POD Missions?

Whose brain fart is this one?
  • Get a load of this. POD Missions to be run 24 hours a day in 011. Various Beat Cars are to be held down in two hour increments to monitor the PODS. Best part? POD room is open to the public to come and sit down with officers!! They can "learn" to use and watch the POD. Second best part? They kicked the Review Office & people out of that room to accommodate this latest brainfart. Sounds like another appeasement of the phony-ass reverends on Henny Penny's part. And talk about ANOTHER waste of manpower, especially with how short we are.
Aside from the Civil Rights issues about letting civilians run cameras and peeping in windows that might fall into the visual range of the device, isn't 011 part of one of the busiest two or three radio zones in the city? We read comments every week about how the watches are downing beat cars, sometimes 4 or 5 beat cars on midnights due to manpower shortages. How some brainiac is going to pull a beat car off the street every single day in two-hour increments to watch cameras?

What about the overloaded front offices? Shouldn't they be covering this? Or maybe some of these fake foot posts and ghost cars that pop up everywhere for the recently bounced inside mice?

Don't we have an entire unit of "pod watchers" hidden away somewhere at OEMC? We seem to remember that seeing as how we answer "Drinking on the Corner" calls that they observe at least three times a night. Why are we wasting District resources on this crap.

Why do they let this stupid, incompetent political hack run a badass district like 011. She shouldn't even qualify as a blueshirt, let alone an exempt.

After J-Fled himself, there is more contempt for this imposter Penelope Jones-Trahanas than any other exempt.

Is it true that she is now retaliating against Lt. John Andrews with bullshit SPARs in violation of his protected First Amendment rights?

Did Henny Penny once work as a partner with that other idiot Maria Maher?

Great, the "citizens" can see just how useless the PODs are. Even if they do catch something they can feel the frustration of not having any available cars to send. Nothing like an hour old battery in progress call.

Kind of. It's only a handful of POs and a Sgt in the OC. They have directed missions from the supe.

What about the security threats? Even though we know that the residents of the 11th district are all fine, upstanding citizens; wouldn't this possibly show flaws and vulnerabilities in the camera infrastructure throughout the city? Don't forget, once you are logged in, you can take control of any camera, in any part of the city. Forget the dope dealers sending in an honor student's mother to see where they could better hide the dope. What if one of the many 11th district business with verified links to terrorism (LINK fraud liquor stores and bootleg cigarette/oxycodone selling corner stores) sends in a "community member" to scout vulnerabilities downtown, or at either one of the airports?

This is just as full of shit as many other things coming from the command staff of this dysfunctional police department.

One of these days the tax-paying citizens of this city will wake up and realize how their tax money is being squandered by allowing the south and west side reverends to essentially run the police department through their hand picked idiots that call themselves deputy superintendents of patrol and district commanders.

Never in my 25 years here has the police department been this badly mismanaged.

And jodypweis, well it is obvious that mayor daley aimed low and missed.

For as far back as I can remember, everytime some order comes down from HQ to reduce or eliminate inside desk jobs, the commanders and deputy chiefs have hidden people in do nothing assigments. The A&A sheets show the officer is working the street on a car, but in reality they are still taken care off. I truely would like to see some commanders get burned, seriously burned, for hiding people away.By the way, cehck the A&A sheets for allof those folks that are detailed to body guard and driver assignments, these do not show up on the detail unit rosters.

Here's a reason to think about.

It cost money to up keep and run a POD. If arrests aren't being made due to a POD one can assume that money is being wasted that can otherwise be allocated else where.

Now how hard is it to sit in a warm room drinking seeing nothing during cold winter night. Or during a hot summer day.

Who's to say what you see and don't see.

I think it's a grand idea for the CPD to give drug dealers free surveillance, allow stalkers the ability to violate VOOP without entering protected area, Robbery and Theft offenders the ability to scope out an area without fear of tickets, contact cards, or street stops, they can even use the cameras against police by use of false calls which use aggressive defense or offensive technique to force officers into situations for false claims, lawsuits, and prosecution, as a cop is onview answering the bs call I can confirm to my boys it's time to execute a opposing gang member and get both the cops jammed and surveillance for my shooting with a lawsuit to pay for our time!
