Unit Problems

WTF guys?
  • Seven Chicago cops are subjects of a department investigation into whether they conspired to write 24 phony parking tickets to a south suburban man who believes they were helping his estranged wife get revenge, the Sun-Times has learned.

Mark Geinosky, in a federal lawsuit, said the tickets came in the mail in 2007 and 2008 after he and his wife separated. The tickets were issued by officers in the Targeted Response Unit. Geinosky said his estranged wife is "friendly" with cops.

And this pending disaster?
  • Thanks to the 55 team's fuck up at Mc Donalds, the entire MSF unit is again in the negative press. Word is [so-and-so] got stripped and the entire team is getting ready to get launched back to the districts. Over one guy's mistake, we all have to pay? Thanks for nothing LT. S.L.
How about we try to stay out of the media spotlight for a few months in a row instead of this every few weeks?

One jagoff from TRU is responsible for this, and is attempting to let the others, who didn't keep track of their ticket books, take the fall. Don't worry you little runt the truth will come out.

How do you punish the whole team for something a MSF guy did off duty? I would say its bullshit that they are all getting dumped. Lt S.L. believes he is the chosen one, but he has enough sense not to screw the wrong people.

If true this parking ticket shit is beyond stupid.

I'm hoping that at worst it's one stupid jagoff. If it's a group then I hope they enjoy civilian life.

For all the legitimate and illegitimate complaints regarding the job and the department this is still a solid middle class gig in the middle of the worst economic downturn since the 1930's.

Blowing up your career for this is beyond belief.

Some north suburban cop was fired and possibly criminally charged for something similar a few years ago. I forget the details.

His wife got into some parking space dispute and took down the license number. Officer Brainiac then started the parking tickets rolling.

That ticket deal was from about two years ago, one copper got his grubby hand's on 7 coppers ticket book's in a unit and started writing the tickets. The broad was a friend of his. He was stripped awhile ago. Old news but brought up again because of the lawsuit filed.

Do you really believe that six officers did not keep track of their ticket books? You are stupid. I think this is just a case of people helping a friend and they are going to get burned for it. What they did was stupid and something that did happen on occasion years ago. But, these are different times.

I gotta vent here SCC... As a guy with a little bit of time on the job (since the 70s), I've seen bosses come and go. Some were princes, some, not so much. I've been through thick and thin, good times and bad. I've seen the tides of morale swing both ways throughout the years, since the 70s. I always tell these "hair gel" police to take it easy. Take a step back and look at the big picture. Is all this nonsense worth it? This ain't the 70s, when I got on, or the 80s. Do your 8 or 8.5 or 9 or 10 hours, or whatever the fuck schedule you may be on and go home to your family in one piece, kiss the wife and tuck in junior.....then wander off to the basement, pour yourself about four fingers of the van winkle, call it a day and wait for the ol' lady to wake you up in the morning, in the basement. So what if the bad guy gets away tonight....he'll be out here tomorrow. Back in the 70s, when I got on, I used to tell these jagaloons on the street, "We're the biggest gang in the city, and no matter how hard you try, you can't out run the ol' Motorola and my Chevy."

And what's with these young coppers getting in trouble off duty all the time. Too many "clinks of the rocks glass" I'd say. And if you guys are off duty, don't be afraid to make it known your the cops. You can avoid a lot of trouble that way, believe me I know, I've been on since the 70s. See the guy in Jewels with the CPD t-shirt and the leather fanny pack? That's me. What do these punks think is waiting for them in my fanny pack if they step out of line? Or you could always wear the gold chain with your star on it outside the shirt, like my good friend 20 year wagon guy....always a classy look....and it let's people know...."I'm da cops".

I don't know SCC, I miss the 70s, when I got on. A much simpler time.

20 year wagon guy -

Saw the post, the ol' lady sounds like a real gem, a real class act. Funny thing, I bought my ol' lady one of those jerseys too, with our last name on the back...sadly it's a little small...one too many Ricobene's combo packs I'd say. Anyway, the next High Life is on me my friend. Take care, God bless and stay blue....and GO Hawks!

We get it partner, you got on in the 70's...jeez, must have said that bout 5 times.

And guess what, guys before you got on in the 60's,the 50's and even earlier!!

I have all the respect in the world for my fellow officers, young and old. A rookie can save my life the same way an old timer can end it and vice versa.

Guys who only talk about their time on are stale, live in the past. All they have is their seniority, give all these bs stories about the "old days" and how back than you could be the police.

Well guess what, you can be the police today also. In fact its actually harder to be the police in todays world.

The same way it is harder to be in the military with its rules of engagement, the troops also have their hands tied. So why is it that a WWII veteran looks at the current vets with the same respect they do each other??

They dont belittle them, but they belittle the government that doesnt allow them to do their jobs the right way.

Enough of this hair gel shit/wheel gun shit..we have to stick together and recognize who put us in this situation. It wasnt the street level patrolman I know that much.

BTW...only have a star on my sleeve, son in the USMC,military family since WWI

All you guys who talk it up about being there for the cops that need help before things go bad or they hurt themselves - where are you? You're either a bunch of hypocrites to kick someone when he's down or the wrong people have a voice in this.

There was a lot of misinformation about this when it first came out and though it's not a good situation, if you weren't there, shut the f*ck up. I know the guy and hes a real good guy who had a problem that hes getting help for now. You should be standing behind his recovery and not taking the time to badmouth someone at the bottom. It could be you. hes worked hard on the job and doesn't come from clout so dont lump him in there.

If anyone was ever in the old TRU building on Pershing, you know the layout. Each team had a cubicle of their own w/desk and file cabinets. Each cop had his own drawer to throw his crap into at the end of the night. Ticket books, files with copies of reports, hats & gloves, and other small things that you knew you would grab the next day. It wouldn't have been hard for some POS to swipe a ticket from the middle of a ticket book. I worked there at the time and think you should know that there is no link between any of the other accused guys and the one they think did it all. Not partners, not friends, not even on the same team. This guy went around and stole things he knew wouldn't be missed from unsuspecting coppers. People were trusting there, they left their flashlights in chargers in the cubicles, other personal items, etc. You almost had to because you had to have all of your other stuff jammed into your locker. There wasn't much room to lock everything up. Back then they had to have every single part of the uniform on hand, including alternate uniforms (BDU's) and riot gear. I assume they still do but hope they aren't as trusting now. There is clearly a piece of shit walking among them.
Good luck to the officers that are getting screwed because of one asshole.

Po's with same situation still at call back 2-3 years after their case was dismissed in court. Hey 1 star, 3 bars:

I remember back in the late 70's when me and my partner got into a heated argument with some clown on Clark. I asked him, "you know what this is and who we are". He said, "you're the cops and that's a car".

I responded something like this.

It's not just a car guy. This blue and white patrol car has an overhead valve V8 engine. It develops 325 horsepower at 4800 RPM's. It accelerates from 0 to 60 in seven seconds; it has a top speed of 120 miles an hour. It's equipped with a multi-channeled radio and an electronic siren capable of admitting three variables, wale, yelp, and alert. It also serves as an outside radio speaker and public address system.

My partner will tear you a new asshole if you f*&^ with him. I've got his back and he's got mine. If you got something to say, I'm right here and I've got 10,000 more brothers in blue behind me. And, we'll be back tomorrow.

We were da cops and we backed each other up. We didn't talk this B.S. on a Blog about the old guys and they didn't talk shit about the young lads. We didn't steal from each other eider.

We met almost every day for a cup of joe and later at the drinking hole, had 4 fingers of J & B and left our problems there.

You gotta back each other up. I remember what my partner said in the 70's, crime doesn't take a day off.

The good old days were in the 70's and 80's.

Not any one of us can say that we haven't made a mistake that could've jammed us up good. He's one of the sharpest coppers I've known and a damn hard worker. Sadly, in addition to the repercussions from this incident, he has to be dragged through the mud here on the blog by a bunch of anonymous shit talkers who don't even know him. I'll also go out on a limb and guess that half the negative comments on here wouldn't even be here had he worked in a district instead of MSF. It's not like he set out to make this bad decision like this turd from TRU. All I'm saying is, we have enough people out there that blindly hate us, let's try to not tear each other apart too badly. I agree. OB is going to need a Bourbon Benefit to help with expenses, etc. He deserves our help. Sad how his Sgt MM and Lt SL are now pretending they do not know him anymore? It's times like these that a person learns who his true buddies are. They will be the ones talking him up, calling or texting him to keep him grounded. They will be planning his Benefit. That's what coppers do. Hopefully OB sees the reality.

Ultimate Tactical Warrior!

You're the biggest idiot out there - nice photo stroke. hes not from TRU you idiot but go ahead and make comments when you obviously havent bothered to check out any facts first. What a stroke

The Ultimate Tactical Warrior is a one line joke gone bad, it's obvious he ridicules tact out of envy because he got rejected and never got over it.
Buck up UTW there's life out there beyond being a tact reject.
I agree about not giving Weis and co your best effort because they suck, I agree that the mayor is a POS, but beating up and ridiculing officers continously for no other reason than their assignment has gotten old...real quick.
And no I'm not a Danny Dugan fan but kicking a man down is not amusing either. So the warrior parodies have also gotten old.
Your posts are rarely amusing clever or funny, even if you post your own anonymous raves about them afterwards.
and one of your previous "satirical" posts about sending some stripped officers a fruit basket was REALLY in poor taste.

All this blather about coppers who came on in the 70's, 80's, and last few years. What about those of us who came on in the 90's? Are we not entitled to a share of the vitriol and disdain? No fair! We demand that either the Wheel-Gunners or Hair-Gellers say bad shit about us. Hey, we wanna feel a part of the family too, ya know. By the way, the 90's were a great time to come on. While a PPO, I witnessed an inspector walk into 015 and try to gig a PO for being caught not wearing his hat AT A 10-1. The old, grizzled 1st watch desk sargeant cussed out said inspector, before telling him to "You got some fuckin nerves, messin with workin coppers!" "Get the fuck outta my station!"
The inspector did as he was told and got the fuck outta Sgt Butchy Becker's station.
Any desk Sgts lke that still around today?

Yeah. Good luck with THAT benefit. If I was "OB" I wouldn't want a benefit. I'd be too fucking embarassed.

"Hey, would you like to buy a benefit ticket for a guy that fucked up not once, not twice, but three times. Yeah, I know he embarrassed the whole department but you know, he's got a drinking problem that he's never done anything about. None of us friend's of his have ever done anything about his drinking problem so we'd like you and all other police to pay for all his expenses while he's suspended pending his dismissal.

ENOUGH with all you enablers who think it's ok to fuck shit up and get bailed out by everybody else.

And you can go ahead and bash me and call me holier than thou. Go ahead. I've had my share of days when i've been over served as have many of my co-workers but we have NEVER done this kind of bullshit.

Fuck this south side "Abatte" Good riddance I call it natural selection.

Now he can drink all he wants. Why don't all you good friends of his
take him out for a drink.

MSF should not have it's reputation spoiled because one guy wanted free food and committed a crime. That is not fair! We are way better than others out there working in 10 and 11. We deserve more respect!!!

Hey 1:52 and 4:55 - get your facts in order before you start making remarks. You're such a big man to make anonymous comments that are so generalized - and might I add incorrect. Move along everyone and let the poor guy have some peace to get better.

Hey FUCK YOU two jagoffs. Guys like you and your buddy OB are the poster children for that 5-10 year officer that's salty as all hell, doesn't know shit, hasn't done shit but thinks the department owes them and walks around with a sense of entitlement.

Who else are you friend's with that has been screwed by the department? The other "good guy" drunk that shot his buddy?

Go write some fucked up case report

Don't you fucking fools from MSF understand that nobody knows wtf you are talking about. Why don't you shut your mouth about your buddy on the blog. That way you won't compel nosey fuckheads like myself to find out what happened. You will save your buddy some undue stress from reading his name on the blog and possibly(depending on how bad he fucked up) the front page of the Sun-Times.

SOS should've never been disbanded. And for what, the actions of few asswipes? If the department took the same approach with every other unit, there'd be no more units.
Gang Enforcement, MSF, and TRU were all created to do the job that SOS used to do. But they don't do it nearly as effectively.
