Supposedly, one meeting down and they canceled the next one. As one comment suggested, did they get all the "input" they needed and canceled the rest as unnecessary? Or did they pretty much sit around for the hour with no one saying a word, leading to the awesome conclusion that the leadership of Ernie and Jody have solved all of the Department's problems?
Did anyone attend or know someone who attended? And did they keep their spots after having themselves a little "street talk" with Ernie's people?

Have not heard the input from day watch yet. All the bosses brewing over the new capt order. Apparently its a mega doozy !!!!
To those MBA types, correct me if I'm wrong. My thoughts:
A law enforcement agency requires an "authoritative" management style b/c of the dangerous emergency situations we encounter.
One that has clear knowledge and adheres to a chain of command. Roles are clearly defined and higher rank assumes responsibility/ expertice.
We NEED competent supervisors and we need to TRUST their ability to manage an emergency situation.
Weis and Co. inadvertently told the troops (us) that he doesn't know how to run this Department and asked for our help.
WTF! Essentially, a PPO could speak and during that moment, Weis has conceded/ surrended "the floor."

Whats up with downtown eb's admin Sgt having a take home unmarked car? Not only that, he has the nerve to bring it to work Safe City over the weekend. Didn't Dugan take away all of the cars from admin people? Maybe the Sgt will get called in off hours to proof read one of ernies teletypes.
My wife's, sister's, husband's, brother, knows a guy who saw his neighbor go to the meeting.
They don't talk so I don't know what was said.
i was there, they seemed sincere enough, looking for suggestions to improve things, some had suggestions , others had no ideas but complained about not being able to get certain training classes.
the was an admin sgt and a guy from research and development there too.
probably a waste of time , but the were cool and i haven't ben dumped elswhere yet!

They will call it a success because no one talked, knowing that intimidation and fear kept everyone quiet. If someone does say that complaints are not being heard, they will say "you had your chance."

Is that "sergeant" more qualified than all the existing lieutenants and captains? Or is he just black? Jim Crow in reverse.....

captains are looking stressed out but so is everyone else--- some of these captains are micro managers and the thought of being in charge of a bunch of people they don't know must be driving them nuts... do you really want a captain reviewing your trr who you don't even know--- they also don't know you---- look out, another tsunami looming on the horizon.....

1. Christmas/retirement parties
2. Cake and coffee retirement celebrations (LOTS of those coming up)
3. Mani/pedi appointments
4. Job interviews for those no longer protected by the outgoing mayor
5. Holiday brunch in the Walnut Room

We see this all the time; it's called the "Delphi Technique" -- creating the illusion of public participation where there is none.
Example -- the CTA decides to cut certain bus routes. Once they have made that decision, they then "open a period for public comment" and announce meeting locations where the public can come and yell and scream and "vent" to no avail.

On this note,with the shortage of cars why do GEU detectives have take home cars? Are they on call 24 hours a day? How do dets have take home cars and the sgts don't? If the sgts don't then it would follow that a lower ranking det would not get a take home car. My guess, one of the GEU dets is a clout baby and to make it look legit all the dets in the unit got one. The Chicago way.

This is an AWESOME look! I tried it but kept getting hooked up by the seat belt when I tries to jump and roll out of the squad during "in-progress" calls.... If the stud can manage to be this cool looking without the hang-ups, I say GO FOR IT!!! All the rest of y'all quit hatin"!!! If you ain't first, your last!

How in the world can you justify walking around with two semi-automatic pistols with both of them butt facing forward? How can you tell me that it's better from a tactical standpoint, to be able to draw either one of those pistols with both of them in a crossdraw position? You can't. And if you were to go to ANY shooting school anywhere in the world and tried to explain how YOU think it's a better manner of carrying your pistols, they would laugh you right out of their school and off their property.
