Detective Rumor

Popping up with greater frequency over the past few days, the rumor hints at a December class of detectives. The only thing is we haven't seen a request for "meri-clout-orious" selections.

Has anyone seen anything?

What a joke of a Dept./city !! They put a three year moratoreum on hiring Dets. and they will probably only make 50 Dets.

How's the Part I clearance rate going? Is it still 3 to 1 odds you can get away with murder in this town? And yet the City persists with this "merit" bullshit and further lowers the bar for assignment to the Detective Division.

Face it. Many, perhaps most of today's dicks couldn't catch a cold.

Yes there will be a class of 50-75 detectives but it won't happen until January or February of 2011. Downtown Ernie is waiting until he decides to send TACT teams to the area and if GEU is going to merge into OCD. Not all GEU will merge with OCD. A/3 GEU teams will be dumped back to districts along with some other teams that didn't produce. Once the dust settles, the dicks class will be made. He wants to get some bodies back into the districts.

I am stuck on the Sgt.'s list myself.

I think they should make the merit class at the end - just before shit canning the list. It's not fair for those who passed.

I think the should do the right thing and not have merit for this class, they had us wait for over 3 years for a spot that we earned. In my opinion, you don't get the cream of the crop officers until you get between those who scored 200-400 on the list. In any case, I won't believe the rumor until the class starts

I feel sorry for j-feds current driver, if there's a detective promotion he'll be made detective for no reason and not sergeant for no reason. Bad timing I guess on the drivers part that he wasn't driving when there was a sergeant promotion. But wait he'll probably get double merit to sergeant when the next class starts.

The guy is afraid of his own shadow. He lies and is soooo shakey that you can stir a martini just by putting it in his hand. This coward has to go.

D-Unit has been down for years. 30-40 percent by now. A class of 50 is a drop in the bucket. It only shorts patrol 50 more bodies. Keep the bodies in patrol where they are most needed. Detectives are clearing less that 1 put of 3 homicides. Thats cleared, not charged or even convicted. Yeah, crime is down alright. What a joke!

With the strictly enforced 48 hour rule (which used to be 72 hours plus), the witness "rights" (i.e. no more locking uncooperative witnesses in rooms for a couple of days), and the incredibly hostile and difficult relationship with Anita's top 3 Felony Review Deputies, let's see how great your clear up rate would be. After J-Fled launched me as Chief, Detective Division morale and clearance rates are now at an all time low. Bring back only "the best and the brightest" (me). J-Fled is a man of honor, integrity and courage. His only mistake was dumping me.

I now know that lividity is not blushing and that rigor mortis has nothing to do with erectile dysfunction.

I would also make my old partner Henny Penny and the Burger Queen my deputies.

I still have my deerstalker cap, magnifying glass and Burberry trenchcoat with a cape. I'll wear a pinkie ring and smoke a good Cuban double corona or even a meerschaum pipe if J-Fled insists. I'm the real deal.

I also have developed confidential informants who will enable us to clear both the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and the Tylenol murders.

The game is afoot, J-Fled.

Methinks you're too late, Senora Sherlock (12:05 PM).

The 1929 St. Valentine's Day Massacre in the garage at 2120 N. Clark St. occurred when seven members of the "Bugs" MORAN gang were murdered by two Sicilians. On the orders of Al CAPONE, hit men Alberto ANSELMI and Giovanni SCALISE, dressed as uniformed CPD, machine-gunned them.

Since Capone bludgeoned both Anselmi and Scalise to death with a baseball bat at a banquet less than 3 months later, it would be an exceptional clearance: death of the offenders.

As to the Tylenol Murders in late September, 1982, six of the seven cyanide-laced murders occurred in the suburbs. However, Paula PRINCE, 35, a United Airlines flight attendent from Sandburg Village bought her fatal dose at Walgreens, 1601 N. Wells St.

Both crimes occurred on current Beat 1814 and officially remain UNSOLVED.

Go for it, Senora Sherlock! J-Fled's got your back. Maybe he can hook you up with the BAU guys at Quantico for a "profile of the UNSUB".

Gotta run!

GEU is part of OCD. I realize that. The point is that SOME teams will remain and pull out of Homan Square instead of the Areas. The rest of the teams will go back to districts. Teams that were LESS productive, i.e. A/3 will get dumped back to districts. Its not that you guys didn't do a good job but there is less crime/less CB#s in Area 3. Iam not a hater on you guys. The rest of the city south of Madison street is a war zone and that's where Ernie wants to send people. He's sending POs to the hoods where the Reverends live. Its about building a coalition of Reverends to help him get the next Superintendent job. Reverends are able to control votes for candidates. That's why they have clout. And that's why their people get put into high ranking police jobs. Wake up you strokes. This has been going on for years. Iam just passing the message along from the Chief of Patrols office.

Merit picks are coming out soon, They can not have a class in December because soom officers have 13A-B furlos. These furlos can not be be pushed back any further, thus the class is set to start 1st or 2nd period next year. Class of 75 then a second class of 75 dics in the fall for a total 150in 2011 like the Cline Era. 130 off the list and 30 merit in 2011. The last Detective made of the list was number 243 in 2007.

19% of the 20% Mertit picks are going to Diversity picks. It's a damn shame that most of the merit picks in the last 15 years weren't even qualified to work beat cars. Don't even get me started on the 29% of merit sergeants & above. I've said it before any here again; POST SCORES AND RANKINGS FOR THE MEMBERSHIP. Is selecting the most qualified individual a bad thing?
To the next generation taking the CPD Exam:

They may wait until Jan or Feb to make dics, or they may not make any at all. The arguement that they care about 13a and 13b furlos doesn't make sense, the last class was made Nov 30th 2007, affecting 13a and 13b furlos. The new dics would just get a 14a!

11/09/2010 08:59:00 AM

So, if the last class was in 2007, there is a chance that a few on that list have since made sergeant and retired so my number and chances maybe even greater!

Rather be a Detective any day then a Sergeant.

Rumor. Current detectives will not have bid openings when new detectives are made.

The administration does not want people leaving Area's 1 & 2. This was done to the last few groups of supervisors. The only time detectives have any opportunity to bid to a new Area is when promotions are made. If this is true the union needs to get on it. Supposedly the issue of no bidding opportunities for detectives was to be addresed in the last contract.

To the retired "can't catch a cold detective". You were the guy all of us in patrol hated. Your high opinion of yourself and bitterness towards others is just great. If you knew anything about the current rules like witness treatment and video you might have a clue about clearence rates. Sounds like you are really enjoying your retirement.

To the goof that was talking about the cream of the crop is between 200 and 400. Where do you come up with that?? Let me guess, 2 year wonder?!? Right. Open your mind

I know great police officers that have bombed the tests, great police officers that aced the test, and the same goes for the softballs like yourself.

My first test I scored high 500s, second, high 400s, this one high 100s. I studied my ass off for all three tests.

And I'll stack my resume up against yours any day of the week, With no phone call. Just hard work, some bitching, and more hard work.

Quit crying, and let the cards fall where they fall, there is no rhyme or reason to how anything is done here anymore. And that a fact. Shut your mouth, work hard, study hard.
