Spot the Coincidence
- Two Illinois congressmen have paid their wives hundreds of thousands of dollars out of their campaign funds in the last decade, according to records filed with the Federal Election Commission.
The campaign to re-elect Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has given wife Sandi Jackson's company at least $315,000 for her work. Rep. Bobby Rush's campaign has paid his wife, Carolyn Rush, more than $240,000 to serve as a consultant.
Two other Chicago-area congressmen, Danny Davis and Luis Gutierrez, have given their wives smaller amounts for doing campaign work. The four lawmakers, all Democrats, were re-elected last week.
The Tribune seems to think this is a shock, as if Shortshanks hiring relatives for the past twenty-five years never happened. They also throw in two Republican names in the middle of the article to kind of "even out" the appearance of corruption - Kirk and Manzullo - but go back and read the democrats names:

Rush ran for mayor a few years back, JJJr was bumped by scandal from running for mayor, Gutierrez left the mayor's race under a cloud and is now connected to Rezko and Davis is the current "consensus" candidate for mayor.

Just think. If there was ever a forensic accounting, line by line of the waste, fraud and abuse of governmental the taxpayers' money, it would lead to a party.
Don't forget the guy at the prison board who worked one half day, including lunch, I'm sure, and has been drawing $85K per year, and great medical benefits.

Danny Davis was just on AM news saying it's not illegal and that his wife has 'volunteered' her time on his campaign for years and was only paid $43,000 over 6 years.
On the other hand, Sandy Jackson's company, being paid $315,000, doesn't even have her name in the title, instead calling it J. Donatella & Associates. If these people thought everything was legit, why not call her company Sandy Jackson and Associates?

Another coincidence involves a Pat Quinn appointee to the state Prisoner Review Board who has collected $85,000 a year for the past 17 months and has yet to show up for work beyond an initial half day orientation class. Is there any wonder why governments all over the U.S. and facing multi-million/billion dollar deficits and bankruptcy?

THIS IS NOT FUNNY HOW IT WORKS OUT. This is simply how everyone is getting a piece of the pie EXCEPT police officers. I have been reading this blog and have seen some irate venting over the cops that were placed in the Chicago Police departments behaviorial program. The CPD has ONLY offered an apology. NO MONETARY settlement has been reached, but yet settlements have been reached in the mutts that were made to sleep on hard benches, the city fireman in the promation tests, etc. The politicians get their pieces of the pie due to loopholes, etc. There were over 500 CPD officers wronged in this program and no action was taken by the FOP. Surprisingly it seems like everytime someone comes forth with some news about a lawsuit on Violation of Civil Rights, that news is swept under the rug. Does anyone know anything??? Having the city claim they were wrong is entitlement to a monetary settlement. SCC, can you offer any input? Does any officer out there know anything? I just can't believe with that high number of police officers that were forced to a physical and subjected to drug tests and having to have blood drawn from their bodies aren't getting their due. This has got to be the CPD's dirty little secret for sure. If the Army had done this there would be public outroar. And as crazy as it seems, some cops have said that the blood that was drawn from the police in this program have been saved for some kind of experiment dealing with aggresiveness. Who knows what to believe anymore.
It's what elected officials do in Crook County, Shitcago, and the State of Illinois. If they've managed to enrich their family & friends bank accounts, they feel they have been a success. It's all about how much $$$$ they can plunder and not end up at "Jail" University.

Have to agree with you on your opinion about the FOP. We went to the meeting and voiced our opinion on the behaviorial program and followed up with FOP for several months afterward. The FOP kept saying we're checking, we're checking as if we were bothering them or something. The bottom line is we finally pinned down Sid Davis for an answer and he said the lawyers from the FOP said the City admitted guilt that they were wrong and apology letters had been mailed out by the City of Chicago. The FOP then sent a letter to the officers involved, over 600, and all those officers were asked to sign the letters waiving the City of any liability. BUT WE DIDN'T SIGN OFF on the letter and asked FOP to then file a grievance on the City of Chicago. Again , FOP said they can't. WTF????? They can't or THEY WON'T. There are several officers that we talked too that said they are just tired of the bull crap and gave up. A few officers got their own lawyers, and were told indeed the constitutional rights of the officers were violated. Now it has been a waiting game because their has been a silence on the matter. We think either some officers who got their OWN attorney have been privately paid off. Case in point, one officer in the district used to be very vocal of this injustice and just last year doesn't say a word about this anymore, but has a BRAND NEW TRUCK. Could he have bought the truck with his settlement? We can't believe how this is being overlooked by the FOP. At the time it was as big as WATERGATE. But now you don't here a peep from anyone. We had a march around City Hall and that was very vocal and now nothing from our own brothers and sisters about this topic. It's not like there were 10 or so officers involved. There were over 600. Shocking. Someone is getting paid off, but it's not the guys wronged from the behavior program. As far as the blood being saved, probably a rumor, but sometime in 2030 you might here something.

Superintendent, I asked around because I could not believe this one, and it's true. You put this guy back on because he is related to a former Sup? You know, the one that was just awarded the contract to do backround checks for the new recruits.
So all your blathering about accountability, and how things needed to change on this Department was all talk. This is why Abatte was such an embarrassment. They forgave and reinstated him time after time. Same with the other drunk that punched out the old people in the suburbs. They both had a phone call too.
