A Song some Radio Stations are Banning
The song you are about to listen to is from a Las Vegas Diamond Rio concert. They received an immediate, resounding standing ovation, and continue to do so every time they perform it! Sadly, major radio stations wouldn't play it because it was conside...red "politically incorrect." Consequently, the song was never released to the public. So, America , see what you think.. If this offering speaks to your heart and you feel you want to share it with friends and loved ones, please do. THIS IS GREAT - PLEASE LISTEN TO IT AND THEN PLEASE KEEP IT GOING!See More

Thanks to ALL our veterans and current soldiers! Without you there would be no U.S.A., and we would not have this great lifestyle we all too often take for granted, myself included.
And a special thanks to those no longer with us who either died courageously fighting for US, or those who have passed from old age, medical issues, etc.

ALL of you are the reason the USA is hands down the greatest country in the world!

May GOD bless all our past, current and future soldiers!

My firstborn son will be entering the Army this coming January. He will eventually go to officer's candidate school since he has bachelor's and post grade diplomas.
I asked him why the service and he said it is something he feels he must do. I will keep him close to my heart for the next three years. I cannot imagine what it will be like but I know that there are millions like me who have gone through this with both outcomes to deal with. We are a wonderful country. God bless us especially now with the burden we bear.

Thanks Forever Veterans!

and how about CPD Meritorious promotions only going to U.S. Military Veterans for the rest of time.. No more merit promos to deadbeat Copper buddies/relatives of Weasel Crookago Politicians. Make the Politicians nominate ONLY U.S. Military Veterans for their Merit pick backings. Oh Yeah, sweet. Then, if they DON'T back only our Veterans for Merit promotions, we will for sure work to out them, and at least will know that they really don't stand up for our Vets when they come waving the Flag and pretending to, when they attempt to score their Political Brownie Points with the Voters of Chicago.

*****************************

I just retired and took advantage of this. The amount you pay is based upon what a patrolman made in the two years before you came on the job. That figure is used to compute what you would have put into the pension in those two years if you had been on. Once that figure is found, it is compounded at 8% interest for the amount of years you were actually on the job. I came on in 1985, so they used 83 and 84. For me it cost just under $30,000. They will transfer the money from deferred comp, tax free if you want. Increased my check 400.00 per month before taxes. At that rate I will get my money back in just over 6 years. I am going to exercise more.

Just thought I would share the info.

I actually feel guilty because the American Flag ALWAYS flies in front of my house. But, the last one was faded and began to tear so I took it down (and properly disposed of it) and have not yet replaced it

Those who worked in the defense plants also served -- they are "The Invisible Veterans."

Mom worked at Stevens Arms in Chicopee Falls, Mass., making Enfield rifles for Lend-Lease. Her work boots slipped on an oily steel factory stairway, and she fell and fractured her coccyx.

It still bothers her today.

She is 86 years old.

No medals, no benefits, just pain.

As we watched the Veterans' Day parade in New York on TV, I gave her a kiss and said that "no one ever thanks you for having served."

God bless all those who served -- and sometimes were injured or died -- on the Home Front. Perhaps someday they will have the memorial which they deserve.
