It seems like the bid openings are more than a little weighted toward those Districts that J-Fled and the brain trust are going to be attempting to move people to. We aren't sure if this is to minimize disruption by needing less people in some of the busier Areas or what, but we can't recall 011 or 025 ever having more than ten openings at a time in the last decade or so.

15 openings in 008?? Wow you normally see 1 or 2 every few months.
Allowing large transfers like this is really going to change your seniority which will affect watch bidding & furlough picks next year.

Probably accurate. We have lots of young run & gunners in 11. There are only so many Tact spots. So these young guys apply to every Unit with openings. Throw in Penny's starting to piss people off, the recent loss of 2 of the best bosses
(Cpt Hart, Lt Denbowski), most of the 2nd watches management people being dumped to 1st or 3rd watch, and you have a bunch of unhappy folks who want out of Fillmore.

Feed info to community groups in the 38th,39th,40th,41st,45th,48th and especially the 47th Wards.
People in the Lincoln Square, Andersonville areas are paying HUGE taxes. Same in parts of every other ward listed above.
Pressure Schulter, Levar and O'Connor. Even though all these guys are looking for appointments to new jobs after the Mayor's election, the taxpayers in these areas can demand the service they deserve.
The voters in these areas have the ability to make this a messy Mayoral issue in the next 2 months. Get Rahm and Chico to take a stand for neighborhood safety in tax paying neighborhoods.
Hire more police, and don't send them all to the ghetto. If you do, we disinvest from Chicago and move.....that should be the voters message on the north side.
Get Uncle Crackhead in the 'hood to pay for Walsh,McHugh,Christy Weber,Motorola,etc.....if we leave.
Now comes the interesting part. When the majority of these bids remain vacant, let's see how they fill them.

Every District in the City has openings like this. The only difference is whether or not the City opens and then posts them.
The big question remains: Can the Union do something about it? Make no mistake on this one. The City is being disingenuous on this and it should be an issue.

It's not like the old 011 its run by a moron of a DC who has stated everyone on management will be shuffled every few months because of the poor Christmas party turn out. I love it, like the titanic. 016 lost 13 people last month--- not one bid spot in 016--- the southeast end is a gangbanger paradise and the 30 sector is drowning in auto thefts--- not blaming the coppers who work there because they respond to calls and make an effort, but they are in dire need of more help---- so what does the cpd do, why they open up bid spots in the ghetto and leave 016 hanging with their ass in the breeze--- you know, the 016 where a ton of city workers reside and pay astronomically high taxes--- where you can't send your kids to public school because they will come home talking like eminem and grabbing their crotch every five seconds--- 016 isn't the only district that is getting bent over the barrel and poked in the bum---

If the powers that be want to send this much additional manpower to these districts, it's because they have other, hidden agendas up their sleeve.
DOesn't 011 have some dedicated POD room now? Expect some of this additional manpower to be used soley for some "POD Arrest Mission" or some other bullshit created by the "Think Tank" in an attempt to justify their existence.
I hope Cmdr. Kup throws a couple more cars out to the west end of 008 for the people who actually deserve police presence...city workers and legit tax paying citizens, not the ghetto assholes that live in "Englewood West".
Things are definitely going to get very interesting...if there exist any Hairgels that DO mind getting it stuck in their pooper, now would be the most opportune time to start documenting everything that happens to you, just like SCC said.
It's not shocking that there are 17 bid spots open in 025. The "LAPA" team of bosses here are running this district into the ground. Look at the officers that this tact LT is bringing to the teams. This district is turning into a joke time to try and jump ship!
While I tend to agree with your logic, SCC, it's also possible that there were a LOT of retirements from those districts in the last two months.

This is just his way to fill the districts by bids instead of fighting with the union. Why have to move people into these districts if you can just open bids and have po's bid into these districts Smart move No reason to reallocate personnel when you just can open bids to districts where you want more personnel

WOW! So many openings. 15 in 008 which is by far the best place to work for south siders. They go to the 4-2 also which makes it even better.
Just heard from a friend that a copper's mother walked into two burglarizing her home in 016. One was caught, the other with the proceeds, escaped.
Maybe the word is out how easy 016 will be to do criminal business since there will be little manpower.

I think it’s a ploy. “Look we NEED this many officers here, we can get them, so we are going to need to fill these spots somehow.” Reverse seniority from other (slower) Dist’s. manpower. Just another way of trying to subvert the contract.
If they would pull their head out of their collective asses, and come to the conclusion that we have been screaming for the past three years: MANPOWER! That will solve the issue. Hire more cops!
I work on the fourth floor at Fled-Quarters, management will attempt to circumvent the contract by detailing one to two P.O.s from each watch from selected districts and units for 90 days and then again reach out for more each 90 day period.
Its can do per Management and Labor Affairs
If they would have left 011 and 025 as training districts this new policy would not have taken place.
If they would have only listened to the rank and file.
Who really makes policy on our job?
The reason there are so many openings in 011 is because P/Os are fleeing in record numbers. Morale is shot in that district. A few nights ago, the commander went into 1st watch roll calls and told the P/Os they don't have enough time on to have a watch party. She went on to tell the P/Os she won't borrow personnel from other districts to cover for a watch party, even after all arrangements had been made for the borrowed personnel and reservations had been made at an establishment. She also removed the door off of the POD room, where she requires a car to be taken off of the streets 24 hours a day, forcing the P/Os to have their back turned toward the lobby where she allows bums to congregate all day.
This is most likely retalliation for the lack of ticket purchases to her Christmas party. Word is less than 80 people were at the party and less than 110 tickets were sold.
OT did 3 % cola pass for officers born after jan 1, 1955?
Don't forget the openings at the airports probably helped deplete some of the districts....
I work in 008. It's busy, but 90% of the bosses are great and that makes everything easier. Most bend over backwards over every issue..
There are some tool patrolmen.. but what else is new.

Penny, maybe you should take a look at how you walk around and treat the people who can "Make or Break" you. so officers beware that she will be on a witch hunt like she is in Salem Mass.. Make sure to document everything said by her and go from there.
Our prediction for next years party? 30 people including waiter/waitress, bar tender and coat checker.

in the past 1 1/2 months the 016th district has lost 21 officers and not one replacement has been made.
"Reallocation" won't happen, this is just election time hype.
I've been on the job since '83 and every couple of years, some politician (always from the ghetto) makes this his cause.
The contract is explicit about transfers, details, etc. If the Fled tries to send people out agianst the contract, there will be grievences out the ass. And they will be won by the officers.
There will be some movement and no bids to "nicer districts" will be the norm for a while.
If all those openings don't get filled, how will these jobs be filled? If they had any recruits in the academy, they could all go to these places, but of course, we don't have that many recruits in the pipeline.
I know, it has never occurred to any of these geniuses that run this damn department, but if they had some decent bosses at those districts, people would bid in there for the opportunity to work for a skilled, decent boss. Most of us are not afraid of work, but we are afraid of doing that work and then getting hung out to dry by bosses that run for cover when the shit hits the fan, leaving you to fend by your lonesome. Good bosses always have a herd of people following them to wherever they get transferred.

just finished attending the 011th district christmas party. And Penny is about to out do herself next year. She is so pissed at the turn out of the party, that she takes it as a slap in the face to her. So starteing next year everyone on management on the watches will be moved around every couple of weeks. So without warning anyone on 2nd or 3rd watch could be working 1st watch. although im sure the people on 1st watch wont mind, its still a pain in ass to no know what watch youll be working next week. She said this will continue untill she has the respect of the officers working under her.

This broad is getting out of control. They have been pushing 50/50 raffles for few weeks now. A CAPS Sgt sits at the rear door and hassles pos walking in to buy tickets for the raffle. Half the money went to fund Xmas party that no one wants to go to.

With the number of officers this department each short, each of those Districts are down at least 30 officers. You don't want to open more than can realistically bid. I am sure they have a method to this madness. I am also sure that 003 has not seen more than 3 people bid in since this time last year. Remember, Dugan and crew posted 30 openings. That stupidity was all intentional. This is just another numbers game!
004 sure needs more officers. this district is huge and the all the 30 sector cars are continuously being sent North of the blvd leaving us all unprotected.

J-Fled is going to make national news in January. He is going to recommend firing at least 70% of all PO's who are currently stripped and/or at callback for disciplinary reasons.
He is planning a major press conference announcing that IPRA inestigations are taking too long to get rid of the bad apples. He is straight up going to fire many POs and let them sue to get their job back.

And old school Humboldt park latin king,mother fucked this guy . And the copper didnt do or say shit. I was embarrassed 4 them. God 4 bid you violated their rights. They got them outa the car but didnt even pat them down,we had to. You know who u are. So when nobody is making arrests it seems like the district is slow and they r gonna pull guys from the slowest places. So now you get 6 jobs instead of 4 whoopie

Exactly what they did over the summer with TRU and MSF. Only then they dumped malcontent unit PO's on us.
I have to say the midnight crew in 016 is by far the worst 1st watch crew in the city. It is a joke .Im serious there is no reason to go in any district on a fri or sat night and see no arestees being processed. Anyone from 016 care to answer that. Really answe that question. I mean theyll write a couple of tickets ,maybe a curfew,maybe go on private property like someones driveway and write them multiple parkers on a vehicle they havent driven years.
Im sick of hearing about zombies, everyone knows it will never happen. What we really should be preparing for is when the CHUDS start coming out. We've been lucky, previously the CHUDs' appetites were quenched by the homeless, persons not missed in CHA and stray wildlife straying into the city. But once the economy picks up and the final CHA inhabitants are relocated be ready for the CHUDs. Thats the real reason the Dept started the carbine program.
Hey 016.Sounds like theres a problem over there. All BS asside. Why so few arrests. Really whats going on the only big arrests we ever hear about is from outside units. He said theyre not bitching about coppers being taken from 016 because crime is going up.Its because they r not use to having more than 6 or 7 jobs a night. Once you are managed on to a watch for 2011 you are on that watch for all of 2011. She may not know the FOP contract but I am sure some of the sharper POs do.

The poster who stated Weis is going to fire people in call back is right on target. Weis is scrambling to revive his legacy as someone who transformed the department. He's going to throw many POs under the bus. Most will have to sue to get their jobs back. Weis feels the Mayor and other politicians have backed him in the corner so he's going to burn down the house. Also a fact-the last SGT test is being looked at closely and there are problems with how the scoring was conducted. There's evidence of test tampering. If this comes to light-there will be major lawsuits against the city. Last-no promotions until after mayoral election. The department has been asking for a large DETs class but city hall(Daley) has denied numerous requests. Additionally there is no current plan to tear down the current lists or have a new exam. Everything is in limbo. My hunch is that there will be one more DET and SGT class and the tests will be taken down.--- 35TH St SGT

Wrong. First of all, the Christmas party is not for the commander. It's for the retirees and the p/os. If this pathetic excuse of a commander has her precious feelings hurt because not enough people showed up, TOO BAD. All that does is show how out of control her ego is and how out of touch she is. Secondly, Henny Penny doesn't know shit about any of the officers that work in 011. She made managment decisions completely arbitrarily. Sure, there are a few ass kissers that were foolish enough to ask her for a favor, but shame on them. Let that come back to bite them in the ass and quit concerning yourself with it. Finally, being a single parent and trying to find a qualified, affordable babysitter to watch your children during 1st watch hours is pretty much impossible. Hiring more personnel costs money. Shuffling personnel around is cheaper (and easier) for the powers that be.
And once this is done you can be sure to see a dramatic DECREASE in crime in those districts affected by this move.
As for the districts that will lose manpower, they will be hit by a steady increase in crime, but somehow that will go unnoticed by the brass and media, unless of course one of them becomes a victim. That will be solved by creating yet another detail of pulling one car from patrol to sit in front of their home.
Just a suggestion for our union but if Jodi has been quoted by every media source for the last 6 months that crime is still decreasing, then why this move of personnel? Again, crime is down (per Weis)so why the shuffling of personnel? Could it be that he has made a deal or two with some of the mayoral candidates out there?
You can be sure that as this happens, each and every candidate will claim it as THEIR idea.

If a person retires or bids into another unit then there should be a opening in that district....Right?? Does that make sense only to me?? Why hasn't there been openings in every district every month in the past and just only those six districts now?? Who decides what district and how many bid spots are available????? And how do they come to that conculsion???? If they have a problem with filling that district then fill them with ppo's(when we get them) and then the least senority. Someone please help clarify a little.

Finally, being a single parent and trying to find a qualified, affordable babysitter to watch your children during 1st watch hours is pretty much impossible.

Thats your problem. Henny might be a jagoff, but your childcare issues do not get taken into account in watch selection, or shouldn't anyway. Everyone wants to be home with their kids. When you have some time on, you WILL be home with them. Until STFU and hire a nanny. Or quit, and work days at McDonalds.

Master Weis keeps reducing crime by the stats so he can put some of those pretty colored ribbons on his bare chested uniform that he doesn't deserve to wear!!!!
He could be sucking up to a certain mayoral candidate who, it was reported, is counting heavily on the gay/lesbian organizations to solidify his base of power. jfled and his uniform fetish would fit right in.....can you say Village people????

For all of the posters who are calling officers in 016 lazy, dog asses, dogs, etc... GFY! There are a lot of good cops in 016 who do a good job and do care about the homefront. Whenever there is an in progress call I can guarantee you we won't be there because we are a huge district. Our beats are freaking huge and plus we have less manpower. Don't blame the blue shirt beat cop for this mess.
003 has got to have openings we short as hell wonder why they did post them.

Once you are managed on to a watch for 2011 you are on that watch for all of 2011. She may not know the FOP contract but I am sure some of the sharper POs do.
