Police Shooting
- A man in his 20s was fatally shot by police this morning on the South Side.
About 2:20 a.m., police shot a person near the intersection of South Cottage Grove Avenue and East 79th Street, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the death of a man in his 20s. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
A spokeswoman with Independent Police Review Authority could not confirm whether any police were injured, but did say the person struck was the person at whom police were firing.
The first five or six headlines on BreakingNews.com are all shootings, stabbings, dead people in the lake or man-versus-train incidents. Looks like it's going to be a messy year already.

What are you talking about? 025 is still a great place to work. There are a couple of Sgt. that are goofs but you can find that anywhere. But overall, you have good coworkers and good captains. Plus there are plenty of places to eat and no boss is ever going to bother you.

Nope, we just became our own unit. We are no longer a part of msf. We did have alot of people quit thou.

wrong, the 0110 was a HS RD number which means it is a recorded crime for 2010. The M.E. case has nothing to do with it. The only thing that counts for 2011 is a 0110 with an rd number starting with HT...get some time on the job.
The ghoul pool is not judged by the first M.E.'s case but by what is classified as a homicide by the M.E. The domestic is still up in the air until it is classified. Still hoping there are more to pop up.
Nice job by all on scene, districts and outside units. Good job by those who blocked the family from getting in, in the end all the wanted was the guys ride. Just a tip, you can never make the crime scene to big, especially in a police related shooting, CPD takes precedent, people are just going to have to wait, a little advice from a true street deputy, McNulty.

MSF arrested two m/2s on the blue line train Saturday night headed w/b which was stopped at Cicero after a passenger heard them saying they were going to blow up the CTA. The MSF coppers then brought the offenders BACK to the 011th district station WITHOUT searching them first only to find what was a black box with a blinking light on one of the offenders thought to be a bomb. The 2 MSF coppers then put the bomb outside the back door of the 011th district station and LEFT WITHOUT EVEN TELLING THE WC or anyone else in the station before calling bomb and arson after they drove away. The entire district was put on lock down and no personnel were allowed to leave even though a potential bomb lay 5 ft away from the building. SWAT and bomb and arson responded as police tape was put up and the entire block was locked down with a hundred cops inside the station waiting to be blow to kingdom come. NICE JOB MSF.

This was not a msf arrest. It was a arrest by mass transit. Also a over reaction by desk Sgt and bomb squad.
