35.6%?
Seriously? Thirty-five-point-six percent voter turnout?
- 1.4 million registered voters;
- 35.6% means 498,400 people voted;
- at last count, Rahm had 305,000 votes
That means that just around 22% of Chicago voters handed Rahm victory. And who funded it? These people had a hand in it:
- Here is a quick list of Rahm donors:
Shahid Khan : Pakistani from Champaign, Il, owner of Flex-n-Gate products and bidder on the St. Louis Rams --- $100,000.00 (WTF!)
Blue Media LLC -- $100,000.00(huh?)
James Clark(Palm Beach,FL) $100,000
Donald Edwards(Chicago) $100,000
Fred Eychaner(Chicago, News Web CEO) $100,000 Hmmmmm?
David Geffen, record and film producer: $100,000
Donald Trump : $50,000
Steven Spielberg: $75,000
Diane and David Heller (Chicago) $200,000
Haim Saban, made Inspector Gadget and other cartoons: $300,000
The list goes on and on... I didn't know the mayor of Chicago was so important to the country.
Hmmmmmm? These people didn't get rich by giving money away. What are they really buying here?? That is the REAL MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION!!
That certainly raises a lot of questions.

They are all the "new owners" of Chicago welcome, the payoffs are still fresh!
Let's be real. Does the low turnout really surprise anyone. 498,000 voters in a city of 3 million. That sounds about rite. 498,000 tax payers showed up to vote. The rest, well we all know who the rest are.
Steven Spielberg must be trying to get in Rahm's good graces so that he can get the contract to make the roll-call streaming videos.
See what happened the past few years with Democrats?
See whats happening in Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio with Republicans?
Yeah, people really want to vote...............................................................................................................
IF anything we need to vote to end the 2 party system.
I did vote, but voting for the lesser evil is not how I pictured voting when I became 18.
The facts here tell us a simple story;
The number of registered voters is vastly smaller than the number of eligible potential voters.
The number of registered voters who bother to vote is vastly smaller than the number of registered voters.
What does this tell us?
The vast majority of Chicagoans don't give a shit about who runs this town.
Which means this town is doomed.
'That certainly raises a lot of questions.'
let's start with questioning that 1.4 million registered voters' figure.
even though it is, for practical purposes, mostly irrelevant to the number of voters who cast votes on election day, upon which the actual outcome of our elections are determined, it does make one wonder why we hold our elections in the middle of the FUCKING winter.
if, as the politicians love to constantly say, they want a large turnout of voters, why not hold our local elections in, say, late April, with any run-off elections 6 weeks later, in mid June?
$18,000,000.00 spent to get a job paying 165K?
You stupid people.
Good luck with your future, you elected the Devil
And the dawn of the ballerino begins
35.6% voter turnout.
I'd love to know the percentage of City employees that voted. My guess is that it would be significantly lower than the total turnout.
However, I won't have to guess the percentage of coppers, firemen, teachers, Streets & San, etcetera that'll be bitching when Rahm makes good on his threat to come after our pensions. EVERYONE will have something to say then.
Furthermore, 35% is right on par with how many coppers historically vote in FOP elections. For a group of people that are supposed to be so guarded about their well being, whether financial or otherwise, I've never seen such a more uninterested and lackadaisical organization in my life.
If you haven't yet sent in your FOP election ballot*, take a few minutes to research who's running this time and make an informed decision on who is best suited to fight the battle that lies ahead regarding our pensions - THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE THAT'LL AFFECT EVERYONE EVENTUALLY.
* Ballots need to be received BY 03 March to be tallied on 04 March.
You get out of things what you put into them, people. Our collective complacency, from all indications and declarations by those involved against us, is going to bite us in the ass like you've never imagined possible. Certain politicians (see next paragraph), for all practical purposes, have told us that they plan on breaking it off in our ass if they're elected. Why we allow it to happen - especially when forewarned - is a mystery in itself. This is like handing a pyromaniac a lighter as he's dousing your house in gasoline promising to burn it to the ground. Fucking insanity! The writing's been on the wall for quite some time, and most have chosen to ignore it.
I've listened to people complaining non-stop since they received this past paycheck that was "shorted" due to Governor Quinn's tax hike (just like he promised!). If you think that's bad, wait until you see what the Ballerino has in store regarding your financial future and stability.
Refuse to lie down and submit to a tyrant that has promised to come after what you rightfully earned. While it's too late to keep him from getting elected as our mayor for the next four years (thank you!, Democratic Sheeple), it's not too late to support the candidates for FOP that have the most knowledge on how to protect, what's in all likelihood, your most important asset - your pension. While I won't mention team affiliation directly (not quite sure of SCC blog rules regarding this), I will say it's NOT the same roster of guys that currently occupy our union. I'm talking fresh blood from top to bottom to protect my pension.
All this means is that the media ballyhoo anointing Emmanuel mayor many weeks prior has succeeded.
Chicago voters are stupid and lazy for allowing so few to dictate such a pivotal election to so many.
This is how Rhambo knew he would win... Buy off the media and start the "don't bother, we're gonna win" propaganda fest.
As far as all the big money Hollyweird campaign contributors climbing into the tank for Emmanuel?
The shameless whores are buying access, plain and simple.
It's a high-falutin' version of "hooray for me, fuck you."
The public has bedazzled with bullshit.
Which leads us to the question a LOT of people are going to be asking...
"Where are The Police and what are they doing?"
That's the bit of pointed irony in all of this...
The feds, the media, the alderfools, the rev'runs, those who wish us much hurt and harm just because and those very few who actually "get it" visit here because "coppers know and see stuff."
More people get the real deal on what's happening in this city than the powers that be want to admit.
Even those of us who have been on the job for a bit are still a bit in awe of the eloquently hard-nosed, heavy fisted, hard knock wisdom that comes from the shedding of blood, sweat, tears along with seeing things that would make our detractors curl up on the floor in the fetal position.
Lies, fuckery and bullshit are exposed here. Liars, bullshitters, incompetents, goofs, hypocrites, criminals in high places and policy making positions along with their supporters and enablers are stripped naked and driven out into the open.
The problem is, according to the low voter turn out, people don't want to see and set a course of correction for the common good.
The wit and insight posted here are a veritable storehouse and tutorial on the real inner workings of the politics of clout, privilege and power in this city.
It's as if why do we even bother?
We reckon the public will line the streets and applaud when coppers are rounded up and marched off to the 21st century Stalags just because we wear a blue suit of clothes and we dare to have dreams and aspirations above and beyond our appointed station of "servants" and seemingly second class citizen status.
Why do we even fight and agitate for people who refuse to realize they're in danger?
Meh...
Even the people of Rome turned their backs on the Legions.
Why are we even surprised?
hang on boys and girls, prepare for the rahmpocalypse.. or maybe it should be called rahmaggeddon.. whatever were fucked either way.
Is Chicago a lost cause? Pathetic.
Quinn govenor too.
Let it be known that Rahm's
money came from outside Chicago.
this prick has his hands in the soup big time and they call badboyovitch a criminal---- where the hell did he get the 13 million in his campaign fund--- HELLO--- this guy is worse than blago and he wants to steal our pension so he has more money in his pocket----
I reside in a city and a state that is full of idiots, how else can you explain, blago, ryan, shortshanks, gov. jello and now the rahm???????
how long until we are another detroit?
James Clark founded Netscape. bye bye ELEARNING?
You don't vote--you don't get to bitch.
Where everything is for sale in this city, I question the authenticity of the number of registered voters, the number of ballots and the tabulation of ballots.
Accuse me of wearing a tin-foil hat but something doesn't smell right with these numbers.
On a 10,000 foot view, aren't there about 15% Black voters, 25% Latino and 65% White voters?
The above percentages on 585,000 ballots cast:
87K Black
146K Latino
380K White
Emanuel got almost 321,000 votes.
The way I see it, that means he got almost every White vote and if not every White vote pretty close to every Black and Latino vote and just about every cop and fireman vote.
That doesn't smell right, not this election. Not after the parking sale scam. That hit and pissed off a lot of people, people that know Rahm comes from the same cesspool as the people who shoved the parking deal down our throats come from.
Then there are these ballots cast for a guy named Walls. How many have heard of that guy? Not me.
He got almost 9% of the votes cast. He got votes in every Ward.
For a city where only 20% of the people voted, there sure were a lot of people who knew about and voted for this obscure guy Walls.
There is that addage, liers figure and figures lie but my napkin calculations and percentage approximations lead me to believe this was indeed a typical Chicago election.
Not a cop
We certainly did our part for voter turnout in the 19th ward. Unfortunately we don't have much to show for it - the Ballerino and Mr. "more of the same old shit" O'Shea.
Sad. And pitiful.
---not a cop
its a black day for chicago God help us.
Ok...we lost a battle, not the war. NOW is the time to get your Union Officials voted in, and up and running to champion our causes. NOW we learn, "...to keep our friends close and our enemies, closer." Folks in Madison, WI are fighting to keep their rights; wonder if Chicago city employees would ever go the extra mile to do the same?
$18,000,000.00 spent to get a job paying 165K?

Well said...it's all about POWER and INFLUENCE. According to our very own laws, the man shouldn't have been allowed to run due to our own residency laws, but even the judges were bought. It's the Daley regime all over again, minus the Irish, add Jewish.
Look for Inspector Gadget to be the next Supt.
Well, at least he wears a tie and trenchcoat, not sweatshirts.
The people of Illinois and chicago get what they deserve. Only problem is that I live here too. So when will Mendoza hire more cops, like she said in her commercial?? This is like living in a Twilight Zone episode.
Waguespack won with 66% of the vote, a landslide in 32nd ward.
And FOP endorsed machine hack Lynch with two other hacks thrown in including Mell's love child son.
They may be buying nothing, but supporting a friend or someone they think will bring stability. Remember, when you are worth tens of millions, these contributions mean nothing to them. I can't se what Trump or Spielburg would want from the mayor of chicago? A foremen's job in streets and san maybe? A paving contract?
We have some leverage when it comes to our pension and benefits. In a court challenge we can force the city to open the books and prove just how much money was stolen under the Daley administration. It won't bring the money back but it will uncover what Rahm was brought here to keep under wraps.
"What are they really buying here?? That is the REAL MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION!!"
They are buying a future President of the United States.
Stop it. People who didn't vote can shut the fuck up. If cops didn't vote for Chico, they have no room to bitch.
Rahm's brother is CEO of one of the largest Talent agencies in America. THAT is were you get those kinds of donors....the gift is to the BROTHER for future favors....Chicago/Rahm, have little to do with it.
The donors are not buying favor with Rahm. They're buying the favor of his brother, Ari. In their world, Ari is far more influential.
Well at least I can say my family turned out. They turned out because I drove each and everyone of them to the poll and went in with each one in the poll box to make sure they voted. It was vote and vote my way or find a new place to live. That included my 83 year old parents.
A new era of thieving, stealing, corruption & fuckery has started, thanks to the 65% who didn't vote.
THANK YOU ASSHATS!
Libyans are being murdered because they want a voice, a vote in choosing their leader.
And here, what do we do? We sit on our collective ass's and let a despot walk in the front door.
So, to those non-voters & those that voted for another dynasty of corruption, when you and your family are waiting for someone to throw a box of food off the back of a truck, and your child asks " why is this "? Tell um' " I sat on my ass son, I just sat on my ass "
In defense of everyone that did not vote: I voted and even drug my daughter down to the poll and yes I voted for Chico. Does it really matter? Look at the list of people that you had to choose from! Rahm is just power hungry, Chico is just another machine guy, Braun has deep money problems looking for a quick fix, Lavelle is clouted up or wouldn't have the job he has. Doesn't really matter who won out of this mess, life goes on.
Let's be real. Does the low turnout really surprise anyone. 498,000 voters in a city of 3 million. That sounds about rite. 498,000 tax payers showed up to vote. The rest, well we all know who the rest are.
2/23/2011 12:19:00 AM
Um no, the rest are a bunch of motherfuckers that threw their opportunity away to vote. All 3 Million residents in this city are not registered vote. Only close to half that number are registered voters (I'm sure some people that YOU know) in this city and they said fuck this election...I'm not voting. When things start going in a direction they don't like...I'm saying to them "shut the fuck up" in advance because they had an opportunity to let their voices be heard and didn't take advantage of it.
All this means is that the media ballyhoo anointing Emmanuel mayor many weeks prior has succeeded.
Absolutely ! Mainstream media slobbering made it appear it wasn't worth the effort to vote against him. The machine always wins when turnout is small.
He spent $40 a vote. $12,000,000/305,000=39.34
Not too bad!
"Good luck with your future, you elected the Devil."
--2/23/2011 12:43:00 AM
It'd be a better name than "Ballerino." Devil, Satan, Beelzebub, Prince of Darkness -- help me wit da synonyms here.
Emanuel was given one simple script to follow, and he repeated and repeated and repeated it all the way from his first speech, through every "L" stop, and right to his acceptance speech last night.
"...yes, his mayoral campaign was more like a venture capital fund, a juggernaut financed by big contributions from some of the country's richest people.
"He's always operational, always trying to move the political needle. Even his well-known love for profanity has helped him build his brand.
"He could pull off being sincerely progressive to progressives and sincerely moderate to moderates because - again, like his Comeback Kid mentor - he embodies within himself all the wings of his beloved Democratic Party. One of my favorite (printable) Rahm quotations is his observation that the talk in his home when he was growing up led him to believe that the Democratic Party 'was one of the 10 lost tribes of the Jewish faith.' This primordial feeling allows him to understand every kind of Democrat."

WTF IS RIGHT, SCC! LMAO
The rest of this city are illegals and can't vote!
You're forgetting that Rahm's brother is one of the most powerful players in Hollywood. Donations coming from people in the entertainment industry aren't that surprising. Rahm isn't going to stop in Chicago. And guess what, Rahm was elected. He won. You can't argue with that fact.
Chicago for sale ... get your Chicago's here !!!!
The people of this city suck. 35% voter turn-out is a disgrace. It's true "People will get the government they deserve." Oh and that sucking sound you hear is people leaving this once great city.
How about my donation, I gave a lot of..... oh forget it, I gave to the other guy.
Let's get this straight, they counted 500,000 ballots and elected a new mayor in about 3 hours. Quick stuff.
Now, let's count 3-4000 promotional exams, in say 9-18 months. Promote maybe 3-400 detectives and sergeants in about 3-4years. No new hires, but throw in 200 lieutenants and above, with no lowly promotions, D2- D2a...?
LETS HOPE MAYOR-ELECT RAHM EMANUEL WILL SUPPORT A FAIR PROMOTION POLICY, PASS/FAIL WITH IMMEDIATE SCORES PUBLISHED, GET RID OF POLITICAL INFLUENCES THAT CREATED THIS MESS AND DISOLVE THE ENTIRE MERIT PROCESS.
Maybe our time has come and The Department can rise again, I don't expect Emanuel to be a spineless weasel storefront rev-run ass kisser like Daley, it appears he will be tough on crime, hopefully all JFeds pencil pushing stool pidgeons will be gone and finally maybe some good patrol officers can have a chance.
rahms gonna get you
Here's to all the assholes that didn't vote. When the new King Rahm jams it up your collective asses you should go cry in the mirror.
People died for the right to vote for our elected leaders. They have to be spinning in their graves.
I'll tell you what the Barabra Streisand money donated to COOTUS' (Community Organizer of the United States: credit to a poster on the Pajamasmedia Blog) former Chief of Staff is buying.
It's not buying kick-back money from huge public works boondoggles of which Daley has sucked dry, nor is it land deals which Daley has also plundered. It's not to get the inside track on the purchase of public assets or public pension monies which Daley and his cohorts have also picked dry like vultures.
It is to lock-in votes for President Sputtering Sparkle Farts in 2012
Chicago is a carcas of it's once great GDP contributing might and engine of a growing middle class.
Now the single remaining thing it has to offer the bloodsuckers of politics is votes. It always was a fertile patch for votes but it also had some other nice pickins to wet the beaks of those who suck off the furgality of other American's hard work in the name of dogooderdom and Collective Bargaining. That's right the Public Union has become the subjugator of the private workforce, working man. Then unionize you say? Can't work that way, there is no one left to produce so a smaller class less productive can get there freebies.
This last election re-affirms, there is an abundance of eager dolts or leaches to vote for the next swinging dick sent down from upon high from a union controlled state.
Chicago is like the abused child who thinks love is abuse because it equates abuse with love, given it was the only type of parental attention it ever got. All it ever knew was a hug cullminating with a kick in the balls. 'Over the top? Yeah....Grow up you moronic sheeple!!
No matter how shitty the choices may have been and no matter how insignificant ones vote may have seemed, given this economy and the stewardship this state and city has received over the last 20 years under huge public union influence, and given the sacrifices made by those giving life, limb and their sanity, there should have been a g-d dammed lot more registered voters voting to say -- enough -- and to put a fire under the asses of the status quo.
It wouldn't have taken that much of a participating electorate to do it.
The turn out and spread, Quinn and now Emanuel? What a fucking joke. They and the media are going to run around yelling Mandate! Mandate! We got a Mandate. We WON big !!! Yea with what 12% of almost 3 MILLION people. Sick!!!!
Now they are laughing at the doltish voters. They know your balls are in there pocket.
I hope I'm wrong. I really do.
But it doesn't look that way. Not with the stealth socialism that is evolving in D.C. and state governments between public unions, exclusive of PD's & FD's life threating endevors of relatively modest pay. But, pensions and heathcare for aldermen, teachers, clerks, paper pushers, truck drivers, prision barbers etc. on the backs of 85% of the rest of the working schmoes that have to self-finance their benefits?
NO FUCKING WAY. It can't work any more. The gravy train of robust manufacturing subsidation of it is gone.
Yes, I can understand the PD or FD may worry a cut back of theres, and mine is next. But, if we keep going toward the cliff we are headded toward, there won't be any for anybody.
We are turning in to Egypt, et.al.
Two classes:
Elites, the politicians, public employees and well-healed private business in an ever regulatory and controlling gov't.
And the rest, the working schmoes- a super majority.
The Feb. 22nd turn-out and spread between cabdidates showed Chicago has lost its balls. It's done.
If America is going to survive as the America we once knew it's going to be up to the likes of those good 'ole boys in Billy Bob land and flyover country.
Big city working democrats have their collective heads up their collective asses or it's already every man for himself.

Those "folks" are fighting to support huge labor unions ablity to extort dues. They are the ones that got us in this mess by support of far left nutjobs like Quinn, Obamao, and the tiny dancer.
Chicago is pathetic, what does it take to realize the democratic machine is NOT what it was in the 60s and 70s? They hate the police, they value the non-working entitlement class and illegal aliens above all else. They support all the anti police bs. For shit's sake, TinyDancer told you already, if you are going to use your stick...{extrapolate to use force) he will not back you.
Get the democrat machine loyalty out of your heads, they ARE NOT your friends any more, they are progressive, marxist shills.

William "Doc" Walls worked for Mayor Harold Washington. He's no dummy and he had some great ideas, but you couldn't help knowing him if you ever attended one of Daley's yearly public forums on the budget where Daley and all his department heads would answer questions about the budget. Every year at every forum location, Doc Walls would sign up for his turn on the microphone and wait patiently. When it was his turn, he would give Daley hell, but Daley would just laugh because he knew his feet would never be held to the fire. Doc Walls has got some balls, but he didn't have the money to be a real threat to Rahm. Had Doc Walls won the mayor's race, shanks would have had diarrhea running down his leg from being scared to think about Walls going after him.

Yes. Well said.
I probably would.
Only social democrats and lawyers could make politics more complicated then understanding the meaning of life.
But then again, maybe getting off ones ass and taking a fucking stand for the greater good and and not just living to win and then stuffing ones pockets IS the meaning of a Life worthy of redemption?
Vis-a-vis the kin behind us anyway.
P.S. some great posts! Let's go Egyption on there ass American, Founding Fathers, MLK, RFK, style.

How do people who have had sex decide who to have sex with?
Is there some sort of mini-erection within the minds of the people who have had sex?
If not, who decides?
