Rahm's Magic Budget
The honeymoon is over...not even two days in:
The fact that the media isn't giving Rahm the play they gave Shortshanks opens up another front that Rahm is going to have to quell in his quest to inherit and run the Machine.
On his first full day in office, Mayor Rahm Emanuel proclaimed he's already figured out how to cut $75 million from his predecessor's final budget, just as he said he would.
"These figures are not based … on assumptions of what might or might not happen," Emanuel said. "They are based on the realities that will happen."
But a look at what Emanuel unveiled Tuesday shows much of his planned spending cuts are estimates based on marching orders the new mayor gave to his staff. Other proposals lack specifics. So it remains to be seen whether they'll pan out by year's end.

Phil Schitz is is setting the over/under on Rahm publicly dropping an "F-Bomb" at 01 September 2011. Phil recommends taking the "under".
Shanks will show him how to set up the "official books", while also showing him how to set up the "secret books", for a a yearly consultant fee. The the Shitcago way !!!!!!!
Dr Evil says he can cut 75 billion dollars! Bah ha ha ha ha ha! Bah ha ha ha ha!
But seriously, the only thing for certain about Rahm's takeover is that he and all his buddies will all get richer from it, and the rest of us will kill ourselves working and sweating for our crumbs.
For the poster wondering what 9.5 means when he talks about better management of grants, etc., he meant the last administration was so incompetent (or uninterested), they left millions of dollars in state and Federal grant money on the table by not completing the paperwork or other requirements properly.
Well, if you can't re-allocate it or steal it, why would you bother claiming it?
And perhaps now all the Better Government Assn's FOI requests will start coming out. Want to save a $1 million - eliminate ShortShanks & Burke's guard details. No brainer.
everyday you have 30 city workers at 37th and iron half hour before quiting time waiting to swipe out
where are their foreman
pam zekman walter jacobson where are you

The media has to"wean" itself off of shanks hind teat & when the opportunity arises they'll attach to Rahms rear nipple.
Who will he cut next? This man is on a mission and will not take no for an answer! I watched fox news last night and they said he will eventually have to "raise taxes!"
Time to do the cuts on aldermen. 50 to 25. Disband units which can be done by the private sector. The CPD Marine unit, Canine unit, Desk crew, etc.. Place these officers back on the watch, back in the car.
Chicago will be getting a new Casino very soon now. If not Rahm will be chasing Quinn around in his shower until he gets one. It will be touted as a way to fill the budget gap and bring the city lots of needed cash. What makes me guess that the taxpayers will get the short end of the dirty stick on this one again. Need a job in the Casino? Better see your Alderman or Chinaman post haste!
Good move now lets cut another 750 million
save money cut all political police details , including the non politician mr daley
Out of one pocket into another.
Smoke and mirrors.
Same shit, different mayor.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Borrow from Peter to pay Paul.
--Need I go on?
He will never last until Sept. dropping the F-bomb. I predict it the morning after an 85-90 degree weekend.

Why have a Marine unit? We have Fire boats and the Coast guard. Also we have the DNR to deal with fishing violations. Otherwise what do they really do? Just a cush job, sit back get a tan....
Let's hope he does not ask Obama how to do it, for he just forgave Egypt of over 1 billion in american taxpayers money (debt) owed to us. Nice..... Can't even imagine what jihad that will be spent on
How about cutting out all the monies going to the Reverands and start doing audits on past monies that went to these groups and other so called non profits.
Funny nobody bothered to mention the 75 plus exempts spots, they're the ones who are killing our pension.
