Street Brawl Injures Cops

  • Five Chicago Police officers were injured early Sunday during a brawl while responding to a complaint of loud music on the Southwest Side, police said.

Thirteen people, including two women, were taken into custody after the fight in the 2800 block of West 25th, police said.

Officers arrived to find more than 30 people in the alley and some immediately began throwing bottles and debris at the cops, police said. Some even threw cans of food.

When others began fighting with police, officers called for additional help.

One officer required three staples after having a glass bottle thrown at his head, O’Brien said.

Gee, if only we had a mobile force of a hundred or more officers that could target a certain out-of-control area and lock up every single jagoff around for a few weeks.

Speedy recovery to the injured officers. The garbage you have to deal with on a daily basis is mind boggling.

Enjoy your unscheduled summer furloughs, folks. Make sure you and your physician work in concert to wring out the maximum time away from this shithole. You'll find that a good amount of city doctors are very sympathetic to injured officers as of late.

Until some miracle occurs that allows us to respond to disturbances like these with MUCH greater force than the assholes are directing at us, LET IT ALL BURN. Protect what's yours. Protect family, friends, neighbors and coworkers, and let the rest of the jagoffs fend for themselves.

Until we can go in 3 times deeper than what they've brought and start cracking melons, breaking bones, ejecting teeth and laying waste to any and all participants of such melees (ladies, you're NOT exempt...you WILL get beat-down like any man would for taking a swing at me or another copper), they can destroy each other. CPD can arrive after the fact, pretend to give a fuck about what transpired and provide the "victim(s)" with the almighty RD# and VIN.

Sooner or later, people will be demanding that the skeletal remains of the CPD be brought back up to proper manpower numbers. They will beg to have the cancer cut out before it further metastasizes. Until that glorious days arrives, if ever, the people of this UNfair city can kiss my ass.

Supernintendo McStake is just a goateed, pandering transplant of a puppet reminding me of the importance of staying in self-preservation mode for a few more years.

Thanks for the reminder, Garry. Having heard your pulpit spewings with organ music and and enthusiastic "Amens!" as mindless background chatter, it'll be that much easier to remember your blasphemous message and how to respond to it.

Recited at St. Sabina, verse 6-05-11 of the New Jerseyians is race baiting gospel of the highest order.

Though you were never against a city-wide response team, you did advocate manning the districts before manning created units. I whole heartedly agree(d). But this constant "if only we had....." referring to TRU/MSF being disbanded seems like flip flopping. If the district had enough personnel, we wouldn't need a city-wide reaponse team. Wasn't that the point. And if we did create one (again) they would man it with coppers from patrol, thereby depleting district personnel. And we've come full circle. I'm aware of the point you are trying to make. Just please use a
different method of going about it. Thanks.

We need to get over the fact that TRU and MSF are gone (one should have stayed, probably TRU due to them being around longer, more experienced) but come on already! That 'zero tolerance' area doesn't sound like it's something that can't be handled by the resources of the 010th District, as long as the personnel there (along with their commander) have the will to get it done to teach a much required lesson to the drunken
goofs in that area. We were always able to teach such lessons like that in the past with the resources available in the respective district of occurrence (beat cars, tact and mission cars).

Afghanistan police get millions in U.S. funding; At same time, White House slashes support for state, local officers

http://www.tradeaidmonitor.com/2011/06/afghanistan-police-millions-us-funding.html

The Obama administration has poured hundreds of millions of dollars into supporting the Afghanistan National Police and plans to spend millions more by the end of the year, a review of federal procurement documents shows.

The continued level of investment into Afghan police and fire operations comes at a time when budgets and personnel levels for similar services across the U.S. are being slashed.

While state and local law enforcement agency woes are not exclusively a consequence of federal belt-tightening, the White House has proposed eliminating $415 million from Justice Department-funded police assistance programs.

The administration also seeks to cut $296 million from the federal COPS community policing support program.

Meanwhile, construction of a new regional police training complex – one of several endeavors planned or already under way in Afghanistan – will cost U.S. taxpayers an additional $25 to $100 million, according to a recently updated solicitation, No. W5J9JE11R0096.

Any more cops in offices to get out there on the streets? And more specialized units to disband? Any officers hiding on medical leave that can be forced back to street duty? Anyone left down there at 3510 S Michigan who might be able to swing a nightstick?

How about court officers? Cut the court officers out of there and get them on the street!

Let's see, who is left?

Hmmm, how about all those bodyguard/shopping trip officers? The ones all getting Sergeant's pay? How about if they get out there on the beat?

What? No way? Too dangerous for the protectees? Who is going to protect my family & my house?

Just a little longer and I can load all my stuff in the family pickup truck like the Clampett family and get the hell out of here. I will head to someplace just a little less diverse. Make that a lot less diverse. I've had all the diversity I can handle for this life, thank you.

We were for eliminating the redundancy among units and TRU and MSF and GEU did essentially the same job. But as we've always advocated (and the current situation is bearing us out), a city-wide response unit is a necessity. We just don't have the manpower to put one up currently.

Don't forget the medical roll abusers, they take months off for cut, bumps, bruises and stubbed toes. They should be made to come down to the medical section every other day until they are off the medical, or just send them to call back. Why can’t you take a report it you have a cut or bruise? Anita Alvarez is not interested in protecting battered POs unless they are seriously hurt.

Anita Alvarez only cares about throwing P.Os under the bus for her political gain.

Unless of course you want to lose your job, your pension, your house, your freedom and get the maximum penalty the states attorney can obtain. It's all not worth it and it's all a big fucking joke.

All I can say is my heart goes out to every single cop in this city every single day- w. exception of this new superintendent who is complete ass, liar and major DUFUS!!!

It is gut wrenching to see cops hurt because of the politics in Chicago, and once a-freakinggain, by another new creepy Chicago Police Superintendent!

Why, why should you all have to fight for every single square inch of help and support to keep yourselves safe and protected while you put yourselves in dangers just like this?? We had five cops killed in the recent past! Why is Chicago Police Department top brass ignoring this?? Why is that fact alone NOT enough to get a quick response group formed? NOW!!?

There is every reason for a fast response group to respond to this type of group violence scenario, of which we have many! We are a major city in this country! WTF!!???

This is so infuriating to witness as a taxpayer and citizen here!

Worse is when you see the money that could be used to protect our police allocated to corrupt endeavors over and over again, as uncovered and/or covered here on SCC and ignored by citizens and media. The money is there to better protect our cops and don't tell me it isn't Mayor Emmanuel!

It's like citizens here are putting on blinders- "hey, let's just all go get drunk for the thousandth time at another numbing block party and ignore fact that this city is crumbling down around our shoulders"!

Snapped a few photos of Ald Burke waiting for his taxpayer funded driver and valet in the Loop the other day.

Question: So, if he needs "police protection," was was he standing on the sidewalk by himself?

After about 5 minutes a black sedan carrying two men pulled up. One jumped out of the passenger's side and opened the back door for Burke, closed it behind him and got back in the car before it sped away. Got a photo of that, too. (Burke's ridiculous straw hat is in the back window, so it's obvious who is being chauffered.)

As a regular citizen who believes you guys are stretched to the breaking point, it really pissed me off to see this abuse of power for myself.

First he tells everyone to go be the police and do what you have to, next he goes out and leads by example and goes in through the crowd. No alcohol allowed, find it, write it. Next he shuts music down at 5 P.M. on the dot, no exceptions, finally shuts down vehicular traffic to montrose harbor around 7ish I believe, by the time 2100 rolled around almost no one left. I don't know what Lt. C is like in 007, but from what I saw of him at a fest I'd like to see him move up the chain we need more like him

I agree with both 1210 and 1214.

Either the self-proclaimed "elite" (Jesus, I want to barf when I see this descriptor attached to anything remotely related to TRU-Tards or Mobile Stroke Forcers) slick-sleeves would've been safely home tucked in bed in their parents' basements or tied-up, 8 deep, in 011 processing some poor slob that wasn't slick enough to ditch the bag of weed when the "Wolfpack" descended upon him (gagging again here).

Bottom line is: WE'RE ABOUT 2500-300 P.O.'S SHORT. Robbing Peter to pay Paul and smoke & mirrors regarding officer deployment can only be stretched so far. We've hit terminal velocity in this circus...someone please stop the ride to render it unsafe for future use.

Until then? 1st, 16th & the 22nd of each month is all that matters. Fuck the animals that wouldn't take a second look at you if you were laying there dying.

Best wishes & a (not so ) speedy recovery to all injured officers out there. Stay safe.

MSF-more silly fuckers- and TRU-terribly redundent unneccessaries- would be long gone at 0400 hours. The next day they could have driven around the area in three or four car caravans, really scaring the jagoffs. In the end they really were a waste of resources because so few of them knew how to really be the police, just like those goofs they had leading them who were jfled suckups. Who cares now, anyway. Those people all volunteered and got royally fucked over by the department in the end. The Northsiders all got sent way south and the guys with the most seniority got the best picks possible- 015 and 011. You talk about demoralizing over 400 workers, all so that Rahm could say that he really meant that he would put more officers on the beat, not on the street. So the beat and the lies go on and on.

You are already paying for it in taxes; soon you will also pay for it in blood. Richie Daley and Jody Weis have robbed us of our police protection to pay for their corruption and Rahm will only make things worse unless we stop him.

A speedy recovery to the officers."

Old time Police- Thats a thing of the past-literally ! what happened to touching the police, go to the hospital? You yuppie police dont have a clue of how to take care of business. Upsets me when officers get battered and the offender taken into custody with white gloves. Was taught, play my game and I will make sure you know you played. Still plays in this day. Only getting worse. Dont be afraid, justify your actions!

Go fuck yourself you dinosaur. If you are still on the street you'd know that there are so many cameras looking at coppers trying to commit the next Rodney King. Make sure you smile and wave at the in car camera as you pounce on the honor roll students. Wave at the security an the pod cameras that magically zoom in to the bt cars beat tag and car numbers. Then zooms in the faces of the POs. If you think I'm lying go sit in the pod room and have a car go by a pod camera and let me know what happens.

Maybe if the cliques on the watch would come together maybe some police work would be done.

What most citizens don't realize today is that if the offenders go overboard and beat the shit out of you it's OK. The police can not do that. Once they are in custody then you can't do anything. Unless of course you want to lose your job, your pension, your house, your freedom and get the maximum penalty the states attorney can obtain. It's all not worth it and it's all a big fucking joke.
--------------------------------
Once they are in custody that is the way it was always supposed to be. And these days with cameras everywhere, it has to be that way.

No one is going to care about some jag off that is fighting with the cops. They are expected to end up in the hospital, as long as the injuries happen before the cuffs go on.

Once the cuffs go on, the kid gloves have to as well. A lot easier said than done in a volatile situation sometimes. But cops are supposed to be civilized, even when dealing with the animals. That's part of the deal when you take the job.

SCC, I don't get it. You, like so many other people, were against having all these officers on different city wide teams with the same mission, chasing the same dime bag. Now you seem to be one of those on the department that just can't seem to be satisfied. There still is area saturation teams that can respond to stuff like this. I am glad these units got disbanded and placed most of those officers in districts handling calls. Just driving around on missions had to go...there just is not enough man-power for that at this time.
If the districts are properly manned, there is no need for mobile units to come in after the fact. I remember a few years back in a south side district, things got really out of hand. There was a true city-wide 10-1 called and within minutes, cars from at least 15 districts city wide, from north to west, came in and helped. This was prior to tru or msf. After that, the next few days, all zero tolerance was handled by a fully staffed district.

Every Beat should be manned w/ two Officers. Every sector should have at least one two man sector car. There should be three Wagons assigned to each District.

When this is done, the District can handle just about anything it needs to, just like we used to.
Waiting for some prima donna Unit to handle your shit doesn't work.

MAN THE BEAT CARS AND GIVE US OUR WAGONS BACK!

Have you seen the PO s sitting next to you in roll call. When was the last time some of them made a gun pinch. Most of them are on the job for school or the benefits. Bus check and a Parker two personals and a lunch with the miraculous unavoidable traffic stop. You'll be lucky if they are on the street when the shit hits the fan if they are not too busy yacking it up on the desk.

SCC: NBC 5 aired earlier tonight a special on what happened the day POLICE closed North Avenue beach: The lady called the shitheads "animals".
She called 9-1-1 stating, "theres a fight breaking out the beach, because theres nothing but animals covering the beach." A very good story! A must post SCC

We need to get over the fact that TRU and MSF are gone (one should have stayed, probably TRU due to them being around longer, more experienced) but come on already! Before them if something like that happened the TAC teams would go back over there and make life hell on them until they got the message

I agree. Get the facts straight. Why do old timers continue to refer to the old days? In the old days, Cozzie incident would have never happened. Times are completely different and officers must act differently to avoid issues with the feds. You are retired. Enjoy life. Beat ooficers are lucky to get any backup on midnights. It is called a severe manpower shortage.

Since the incident ocurred only one
block from Cook County Jail could
the officers have requested assistance from the Sheriff's Police to quell this "insurrection" ? I'm sure they
would love to help their bretheren
restore order.
They have nobody to send either. The CCSD would never allow them to send their guys there. EXOPS is the only unit running at that time and they are mostly doing hospital runs.
