Enforcers Win National Title

Congratulations to the CPD Enforcers on their National Public Safety Football League Division II Championship:
  • After six years of trying, it was the first championship for Chicago’s finest — known as the Enforcers -- during the game inside Brother Rice High School’s football stadium on the Far Southwest Side.

The 24-13 victory over the Philadelphia Blue Flame team was mostly a bonding experience for the officers on both sides of the ball, a time to unwind away from the crime that puts their lives at risk every day.
Again, congratulations to the entire team. You did a great job this year.

Off Topic: Doty watch

Can't believe this guy laid off the two most senior ranking officers in our dept. Friday. Men who were
respected throughout the UCPD. When is the University going to wake up and remove this cancer from within?
Maybe the U wants the PD here gutted completely. If that's the case, they are off to a very good start. No one is motivated to do anything here now, waiting to see who is next to feel the blade of Doty's axe. I hope he and the chief are happy with how they've crushed morale here. I know a lot of people here on this blog have been blasting McCarthy, but from where we sit over here in Hyde Park, he looks like a prince.

Isn't all this talk about Doty and the UIC kind of the same as talking about the security situation at a local mall? Nobody wants to do anything because of Doty? What does a security guard at a university do anyway? Just sayin.

Nice game. A few great runs, passes, a couple of interceptions... all in all they looked more together than in the past.

I give Philadelphia credit as well. They only had a 30 man roster with some of their guys doing double duty but they played their hearts out as well.

A great game for a great cause. Nice job by all.

Tribune reporters repeatedly called headquarters last week to find out how much medical or IOD time was accumulated by officers playing on the football team. The reporter alleged that he has evidence of many officers sustaining IOD injuries on their first day of work following a game. This included numerous knee and back injuries sustained in foot chases where no one was arrested.

Expect a cover story in the next couple of weeks and it will not bode well for keeping these benefits in our contract. Expect a few coppers to be thrown to the wolves.

Why would you even link his name to this? He isn't on the team, he isn't the coach, he didn't lead them to this or have anything material to do with it. He wasn't here for most of it, anyway.

Let the guys enjoy their victory without saddling them with McNuts as part of it.

First off broham, it's U of C -- not UIC. Secondly, officers at the University of Chicago are state certified; no different than any CPD officer.

I was originally employed with the university before moving over to CPD, and still have respect for their officers. We're all on the same team.

I don't work for UIC, I work for CPD. And I can tell you they do a lot!. They deal with the Libs at the University and the libs in Hyde park. They get more beefs then we do. It's too bad they don't have the union (I know FRATERNAL ORGANIZATION) protections we have. It's too bad they have some of our rejects in charge there. Don't think cause you are CPD you are better then any of our brother agencies. A lot of them work harder then we do. If you really want to know what they do stop by and ask them.

CPD Det.

Go to their station and ask your question again, while looking at the Memorial Plaque hanging on the wall with POLICE OFFICER Steve Mitchells name on it. By the way SALTY, his name appears on the Police Memorial Wall in Springfield, Illinois and in Washington DC at the National Police Memorial......EOW Aug 12, 1983, probably before you were born. Stabbed to death answering a suspicious person call at 56th & Harper, but lived long enough to warm his back up that the offender had taken his gun during the stabbing attack and that he was coming to the rear. The offender fired on the part-time CPD Lt who was in the rear, and though seriously wounded with a GSW to the gut, the Lt was able to shoot and wound the offender who was minutes later taken into custody. The CPD Lt working there part time would probably knock your teeth down your throat for your witless, ignorant statement. I think you owe an apology to their Department, but probably lack the intestinal fortitude to do so. There's a lot of X-UCPD'ers on CPD now who would back me on this one pal, several of which sit atop the ranks of CPD. UCPD are the POLICE, more so than the likes of you.
Any other stupid questions...... JUST SAYIN

1036 am tells the truth. a couple of these lads are habitual, recurring "IOD" goofs. while I hope no one suffers for stupidity, theres absolutely NO way to explain coming off an IOD, going to qualify at the range, playing in the big game, then calling in the next day to be put back on the medical for a recurring injury. in case you dummies didn't notice, there were cameras EVERYWHERE at the game (I personally counted 3 news type HD cameras), not to mention the hundreds of cameras brought by family members and coworkers to capture the moments. You never know exactly where pictures may wind up at. I work a southside district, but there is already buzz about some northside goof giving a statement to the press...a goof that shouldn't have played, if you catch my drift. The day some bullshit work football team championship trophy means more than a secure job with (hopefully) a pension is the day you assholes need professional psychological help.

Go "f" yourself you troll stop trying to screw up a good thing it's football people get hurt there are 30 teams in the league. Chicago is one of the departments that DOES NOT take care of their players. This is all for charity and is a shining star for a screwed up department. Go jump off a very high bridge loser.

8:01 - if you don't know the difference between Hyde Park and Little Italy, you shouldn't make a comment. Also- U C (Hyde Park) police are State Certified police and U I C police are State Certified Police - Loyola and DePaul have security guards with no guns- there is a big difference. It used to be anywhere from 1/3 to - 1/2 of the UC cops were part and worked for CPD. Just be quiet!

I am retired. I worked in the Hyde Park area twice in my career and I think very highly of the U of C Police. They had CPD zone radios in their cars and always backed us up when we were riding one man at night and on two different zones. The U of C guys are the police. Things were rough in the area back in the 70s and 80s. Please don't comment on something you do not know anything about. I can't speak for Doty, I do not know him. But Rudy Nimmocks was the chief for years and I thought the world of Rudy. Rudy should have been the Supt. , but he went after an alderman for murder and that ended his career.
