That Time of Year

  • The Toews brothers and the battle between Ray Emery and Alexander Salak for the backup goalie spot will take center stage for the Blackhawks during their exhibition opener Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers in Saskatoon, Sask.

"I'm excited about the start of the camp," coach Joel Quenneville said. "Now that we're playing games, all of a sudden training camp has been flying up to this pace. Once you start playing exhibition games it seems the pace gets even faster. We've got a lot of young guys playing in the first couple games. We'll get a look at most of these guys. We've got a young lineup tomorrow so it will be nice to see these guys play in an NHL game."

The Blackhawks never really gelled last season, coming off the Cup win but losing almost a third of the team to salary cap considerations and the nagging injuries that always seem to follow the quick turn around after an extended playoff season. This year may be a "rebuilding year," but we'd hope to see them as contenders all year with a good playoff run.

I heard a good one this morning. "Superintendent McLovin" WTF did we get from New York? We had no better choices within the CPD? The ship is sinking even faster now.

Off Topic-- I'm still waiting for the text alerts and lead news stories about McGoofy resigning. Face it, no matter how much we wish and hope-we are stuck with this egomaniac .

Bears are toast, Cubs and Sox are kaput. The G8 and NATO are coming.......We need the Hawks to get us through the upcoming 9 months.
I'm 52, lived here all my life, never saw a Hawks game in the flesh until last year--now I'm hooked and have learned all I could about hockey that I could.
From what I see, NHL players stay under the RADAR and out of trouble and scandal, unlike NBA and NFL players, they are good role models for the kids.

To all my brothers and sisters in blue-stay true to each other...2012 is going to be hard and the big brass and 9.5 are going to fuck with us more, all we have is each other to watch our backs.

I still hate Carcillo. Think it was a bad signing. Tried to get under the skin during the finals and only embarrased himself.

Suprisingly, the Stanley Cup won by the Hawks was a fluke. The best hockey will be in the next 2-3 Yrs as the still young nucleus, finds it's way with the right Veteran Free Agents. The potential dynasty of this team will come down to how Bowman juggles both the maturation of a young team against the constraints of the salary cap. This is going to be fun, and even though last year was a "rebuilding year" we still were just 1 game away from the Stanley Cup Finals. Oh Yeah, screw the Ghetto-Ass Bears, maybe they should worry more about blocking and tackling and less about gerry curls and Rhasta Hairdo's and childish celebrations. GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank goodness the hockey season is here, seeing as how the Bears football season is over.
Let's go Hawks!
p.s. Bears lose Sunday against Greenbay.
Cutler, call in sick, you won't survive the PackAttack.

Our baseball teams really sucked this year.
It appears the Bears are all set up for an embarrassing season.
Time to pin our hopes on the Blackhawks.

the hawks will be tough on both sides of the puck and hopefully crawford can pick up right where he left off last year--- the hawks will have to stay out of the penalty box and avoid the injury bug--- prediction, the hawks will be 5th or 6th seed in western conference.....

Part of last season was going so deep in the cup season, it's hard to recover. I'm really up for this season-got a good feeling. Should we canel 6th period furlo next year for the cup parade?

Whats even bigger than this story is the ego and micromanaging little shyyt we got for a mayor. He will eat shit and die before he admits he made a mistake with the new "superdomesticado of police."
G-Hardon is hard-
ly an example we can all espire to be.

Hey, get your facts right...we were one game away from making it to the second round of the playoffs, not the finals. three rounds of playoffs before the finals.

Hawks should be good, this is not a rebuilding year at all, look at the veteran help they've added. They added depth, got some tough guys. They may need one more scorer and another center, but Bowman says he has some money to spend, so it should be good this year. They would have been better had they made the right move at goalie earlier in the year.
