Upcoming Valadez Trial

From the comments:
  • I'm sorry that I chose to leave a comment on this post but I was not sure how else to get a message to you.

My name is Brenda Valadez. I am the sister of P.O. Alejandro "Alex" Valadez #9534 EOW 01 June 2009. I was wondering if you can please let your readers know that trial is coming up for Shawn Gaston, one of the offenders in my brother's case.

Jury selection will be on Monday, Sept 19th with the trial commencing on Tuesday, Sept 20th at 11am. The judge has not decided on a court room yet and as soon as I get that info I will let you know but I just wanted everyone to save the date. I pray that we have a big turn out and ask that any officers that are able to attend, please show up in their uniform. Trial should last between 1 - 1.5 weeks and we would appreciate as many people that can fill up the court room everyday.

On behalf of my parents, siblings and the entire Valadez family, we thank you.
Consider it done ma'am. Anyone with updates on the Courtroom or changes in the schedule, post them here and we'll update as we're able.

Could Jersey boy have been in New York, hob-nobbing with his old (and perhaps future) 9-11 police pals around Ground Zero?

I have a trial that week at 26th st. I will be there for Alex and his family. If you are at 26th that week, make sure you make your presence felt. We will not allow another injustice to occur in Cook County Criminal Court like what happened last week. If you are at 26th st. you have no excuse for not stopping in for even a little bit.

The first day is usually taken up with jury selection. There may be no room in the courtroom to watch. That being said, it's still good to stop by and show support before the jury selection process starts.

The case is pending in Judge Jorge Alonso's courtroom at 26th & Cal. (Room 207). Shawn Gaston is the defendant and the case number is 09CR-16847.

FYI...Courtroom 207 is a small courtroom, commonly referred to as a "fishbowl."

Hopefully the trial will take place in one of the bigger rooms.

I'm of the opinion that anyone that draws down on a Cop should just end up Dead....regardless of their age or color or sex.

That will promote the firm belief and Fact that the police are Right in a Firefight...Period.

Shoot for the ten ring.

Its easier to deal with the IPRA than the widow of a Cop

The mutts attorney will say that the police were trying to intimidate the jury. The big, bad, mean police.

I have to give credit to Dan Gorman. I have been complaining for years that the FOP does not give us any notice on up coming important police related trials and today I recieved the FOP news letter and under Dan Gormans report he lists "Notable Court Dates" including Alex. And YES I will be there.

I see the FOP is up to date and on time with the mailing of the September newsletter.

Arrived on 12 Sep.

Has info on the Taylor trial, the Valadez trial and the Flisk trial.

Unfortunatly, the Taylor trial was on 06 Sep.

Hey FOP here's a novel idea:
Send out the newsletter prior to the dates you want officers to show up for court dates.
Not halfway thru the month!!!!!

hey 12:32 I'm so sure you would have been there each day had your newsletter only arrived on time. Quit your whining and I hope you made/make the other trials that you were notified in time for although I'm sure you have some lane ass excuse lined up already.

RIP ALEX, I am sure you are looking down on us. Justice will be served, my brother in blue. Rest in peace and let us handle the rest. Pass on the word everyone. We need to show support and get a message across that crimes against police is not acceptable and will be not be tolerated.
