Courtesy Parking

If anyone has any copies of "courtesy parking" directives issued by CAPS offices, District Commanders or assorted downtown gold stars, send us a scan and we'll post them for everyone to read. It can be for churches, carnivals, parades, community events, whatever.

We hate to see the Department getting a black eye over some bullshit Department of Revenue or Parking Enforcement move to extort actual taxpayers who are simply going to church when so many other "churches" and politically heavy organizations are given "waivers" on a regular basis.

Either the rules are the same across the board or they aren't really rules at all - just favors doled out to the connected.

Courtesy Parking IS gotten with Clout.....its not a GO in the Book.

You will never find a Directive for this.

You might be lucky and get a memo that someone Emailed....but I doubt anyone is going to ever put one in writing and sign it.

And the Rule is the same across the board...Ticket the stupid people and let them learn.

Here is a company that is looking for tax concessions from the State of Illinois taxpayers yet has a huge profit for the past quarter!

CME Group Inc., the biggest U.S. futures exchange operator, reported a higher-than-expected quarterly profit on Tuesday, as trading surged and expense growth slowed.

The operator of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Chicago Board of Trade and the New York Mercantile Exchange signaled that containing costs would be a key focus in coming months and years. Chief Executive Officer Craig Donohue promised to keep expense growth below 5 percent next year and beyond.

While rival exchange operators NYSE Euronext and Deutsche Boerse AG aim to boost profits with a mega-merger announced earlier this year, Donohue has ruled out major acquisitions and is focused instead on long-term goals including international expansion and clearing of over-the-counter derivatives.

CME cleared $44 billion in interest-rate and credit default swaps in the quarter, and $35 billion in October alone.

The company said third-quarter net income rose 29 percent to $316.1 million, or $4.74 a share, from $244.3 million, or $3.66 a share, a year earlier. Analysts on average had expected $4.69 a share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Expenses rose 4 percent to $302 million.

An average of 14.7 million contracts changed hands daily in the quarter, up 27 percent from a year earlier, the exchange said. Revenue rose to a quarterly record of $874 million.

Here's another job for the midnite crews:

The Department of Family and Support Services was told Chicago Police officers would transport homeless people who needed shelter after midnight.

Shelter providers subsequently told her police were simply giving people the address of the nearest shelter and asking them to go there.

Pressed to predict what would happen this winter, Dworkin said, “If it’s below zero out, and someone is calling and has nowhere to go, it may end up the police have to transport people. They’re gonna have to come up with a way to help people in the middle of the night.”

Rahm has asked for courtesy parking at the Fire Station near his home that he has turned into his own private security compound.

It is a great use for a closed Fire Station, isn't it? He is closing the 019th District, but Rahm is safe. Don't worry.

Church goers need to find legal parking or carpool. The bible doesn't say you should ask for special favors.

While they are closing districts one church gets all kind of privileges and has on duty cops detailed there. Thou the church has plenty of money to pay for their own. Just look at the cars and entourage the Rep/state senator has.

The ACLU should look at stats to see where the ticket writers are being sent to write tickets.

They should complain that they ate not getting their fair share of ticketwriters in the ghetto

First day of Wisconsin's new concealed carry law

Associated Press
7:41 a.m. CDT, November 1, 2011

It's the first day of Wisconsin's new concealed carry law. But, police warn that if you carry a gun without a valid permit, prepare to be arrested.

If you're a resident of Wisconsin, having an out-of-state carry permit is not enough.

The state Department of Justice says you must have a Wisconsin permit. If you don't live in Wisconsin and have a current permit from one of 26 states with requirements similar to Wisconsin's, you can legally carry a gun in the Badger State.

Concealed carry license applications are available from DOJ. The department hasn't processed any applications until Tuesday because it needs current criminal history information when doing a background check. The fee for a license is $50 and you need proof of training.

On Monday, Wisconsin's bishops urged parishioners to keep their concealed weapons out of church.

The state's five bishops issued a statement saying they won't mandate churches prohibit concealed weapons but want parishioners not to carry them into churches as a sign of reverence.

They want local pastors to consider that Catholic teachings stress non-violent conflict resolution and Catholic churches have a long tradition of serving as sanctuaries for people fleeing violence as they decide whether to allow concealed weapons or ban them.

Close the districts, redraw district lines, hire, fire and hire civilians over and over again, screw over the Police Dept. but dance around the fire dept. I have no bad feelings towards fire dept, they are always there to help when needed and are pretty fast. I have a issue with the city playing favorites. I hope your boys in red are ready when the city burns in May, cause the way you are screwing your boys in blue, you wont be getting much protection.

Hey, how about the courtesy parking around sox park during the season? A private parking company actually takes over city streets and you need a special parking permit to park on city streets during games. Try around 37th street. If you want to ban parking around the stadium them go ahead, no problem. Then to let the clouted park on those streets is just plain wrong. There are no police officers out there, only a private parking company.

I would ask the Inspector General to look into this.
Are they being targeted for being Catholic?
Are they being targeted for having jobs? ( we'll, most of them )
Are they being targeted for being White?
Are they being targeted for living on the NW side?

Any of the above are grounds to fire the Revenue supervisor who assigned the person

I would also encourage any person ticketed to file a civil rights complaint

Of course the rules are not the same across the board, and it goes much higher than just occasional waivers on parking regulations. RJ Vanecko, for instance. But also recall the comments here a few weeks back about how the good folks down in Mount Greenwood "take care of their own"--ie, cops and firefighters and other city workers get "considerations" from each other that regular clout-less citizens do not. The whole town is a stew of this sort of corruption.

Ladies and Gents...let's not be silly! For years, regardless of neighborhood, courtesy parking has been extended for religious services, funerals and special events. The 'entity' that wrote these series of citations up north should be raked over the coals... not every other worshipper throughout the city! Do you really want to engage in a campaign that makes the police out to be vengeful jag's? This is a situation of political solution... EVERY ALDERMAN throughout the city! It won't take any Alderperson three seconds to understand this was wrong, and THEY lead the campaign. And for those whom insist on silly antics and self-righteous revenge... consider the evaluations of your actions... "You mean to tell me, for the last two years you've wrote an average of two parkers a month, made six arrest, haven't recovered one gun, and now you decide to write forty five tickets to worshippers and people burying their family?" LET'S NOT BE SILLY! Let's get EVERY ALDERPERSON ON THIS!!! Just a thought...

Yeah...I'm so sick of it...

Protecting the so-called clouted ones. The people that always get on their soapboxes about how you need to be responsible for your own situation. Financially you should save your money for a rainy day so you don't have to depend on others.

This morning on WGN radio they were standing up for hizzhonors social services cuts that provide transportation for the homeless to shelters during bad weather -- exclaiming that this is a luxury that the city can no longer afford.

Oh yeah, this is a luxury the city can no longer afford and we shouldn't make it so easy for the homeless they said..Well okay and maybe rightly so. However...

Meanwhile the city can afford to continue to spend taxpayers money, giving it to mufti-millionairs like Daley and Burke.

THOSE SOCIAL SERVICES we can afford. We CAN afford drivers for Daley and Burke. They are millionaires and we need to make it easier for the millionaires because if we give that money to the homeless they will not be motivated to not be homeless.

Yeah..give more social services to Burke and Daley and preach to us how we need to save the taxpayers money. jackasses. I hope the people are fed up enough to vote them all out.

RAHM, THE CITY HAS NO MONEY -- Cut the gifts to the ex-mayor and the aldermen.

Man-Oh-Man..

The city whining we can no longer afford this luxury of providing transportation of the homeless to shelter when needed == buy we can afford to provide drivers and taxi service to the private citizen ex mayor and his wife and to certain aldermen that are millionaires.

And then there's this. $100 million tax break for Motorola, a pending $120 million tax break for Sears and a proposed annual tax break of $100 million for he CME..and more.

------------------------
The stakes in the tax cut bidding war have been raised yet again…

…according to the top Republicans, Senate GOP Leader Christine Radogno and House Republican Leader Tom Cross, Mr. Quinn indicated he’d like to hike the earned-income tax credit as part of any deal to help CME Group Inc. and CBOE Holdings Inc.

Mr. Cross said expanding the earned-income tax credit would cost the state $90 million to $180 million a year.

So, Senate President John Cullerton wants $100 million to CME, House Republican Leader Tom Cross wants almost $500 million in additional corporate tax breaks, and now this. Add in EDGE tax credits for Sears and the total on the table is now as high as $800 million. A year. Every year.

This state can’t afford to buy new paperclips, and yet it’s trying to give money away hand over fist.

We are going to award the CME group $100 million a year in tax breaks at the taxpayers expense cutting city services and pensions, jobs and wages in the process -- and they litter the city with trash and arrogance.

Acting like they have earned every dime when the facts are they are about to get hundreds of millions in corporate welfare subsidies.

HOW TO USE A CRISIS -- LESSON #5

In order to use a crisis you must first create a crisis and then not let that crisis go to waste.

For example:

Say your a sanctuary city.

You install thousands of speed trap cameras because the prior red-light camera stats show that close to 30% of all traffic sampled on the roads are exceeding the speed limit and you need more revenue.

Obviously a sudden massive show of force with regard to speed limits where there was none prior will result in rush hour grid lock.

So to counter the grid lock crisis you implement yet another city revenue generation scam called a congestion tax and tag it onto all the parking garages downtown.

That's how you create a crisis and then not let it go to waste. To extort the taxpayers that it's all necessary. Use the children as tools if you have to in order to win the so-called hearts and minds.

Maggie Daley has her own limo and Chicago Police body guards to haul her around town. The Racoon said that Maggie "donated" thousands of hours of her own time for causes in the city. Really. How about the $50,000 per year she was getting from Daley pal Patrick Ryan of Aon Corporations for just being a "consultant"? Aon was doing lots of business with the City of Chicago all those years but I guess Richie left that bribe...I mean contribution...I mean money off his Etticks statement. And that doesn't include the hundreds of $thousands that TIF business thieves got from the Mayor if they gave some back to Maggie's After School Program. Corruption runs all through the Daley Crime Family.

Off topic but this can't be swept under the reg. This morning at North Ave and the river, two of the local winos fell in the river and were rescued by our Fire Dept.
Our Marine Unit showed up in there van, and two of our Officers approached the scene, one dressed n a CPD uniform and the other dressed in a wet suit. They were told by the CFD Captain in charge that they were not allowed on the scene and when the Officer wearing the wet suit attempted to step around the fireman, the Fire Captain grabbed the officer and threw him to the ground. When the Officer attempted to get up, he was again thrownto the ground. The firemen them grabbed their Captain, who was drunk, and fled the scene. A beat car was called and a battery case report was prepared. After tracking the drunken hero to his fire house, he was taken to A/3 where our Capon bosses were attempting to talk our battered officer out of signing a complaint. I don't know the outcome of this caper, but this drunken fire captain can't be allowed to get away with this.

The Chicago Department of Revenue announced today that Chicago Parking Meters (CPM), LLC would resume supplemental enforcement of parking meter violations at the concessionaire’s expense on Monday, June 21st. To ensure consistency, and competency, CPM has contracted with Serco, the same vendor the Department of Revenue utilizes to supplement parking enforcement.

The agreement between the City of Chicago and the concessionaire that yielded $1.156 billion for the City allows the concessionaire to provide supplemental enforcement of parking meter violations at their own expense. Meter violations issued by CPM’s Serco staff will be treated just like tickets issued by the City – the City will receive all ticket revenue and motorists will be afforded all the same hearing and adjudication rights via the City’s adjudication process.

Why wasn't the fire captain put in cuffs and arrested ?
What is wrong with CPD ?
Don't blame the bosses on CPD , blame your partner that failed to assist you after being a victim of Aggravated Battery and not calling a 10-1.
10 years ago that captain would've been in cuffs and transported to hospital for injuries while resisting arrest.
CPD has become report writers , afraid to arrest people , write tickets . Rahm should let CFD run the lake front , sounds like they got bigger ba--s than marine unit.
Maybe should be renamed the mermaid unit.

I hope copper filled out trr .

The below quote is from a Sun Times article regarding the city buying up land around Midway, including a restaurant that many locals and city workers patronize.

Aviation Committee Chairman Mike Zalewski (23rd) noted that the greasy spoon is a cop hang-out.

“Are we gonna have grief counseling for the Police Department? They’re not gonna have anywhere to have breakfast,” Zalewski joked.

Zalewski, YOU are an asshole!

Will be happy to keep my Chicago home, paid for, park across street, good neighbors that have been here forever. Will spend lots of quality time on moms farm in Wisconsin, 35 miles from Green Bay. I realize everyone likes the Packers up there, but I feel myself and my beautiful wife can adjust. I wish all the other CPD the same good life later in years.

Welcome to WI...make sure you get your ccw permit in, retired officers need to qualify with their former depts, ccw holders don't. And you can learn to love the Packers.

014's book used to have a TON of these things in it. Temple Kriya Yoga had at least one a week.

There is a LOT of documentation of parking courtesy, otherwise known as 'look the other way and don't enforce parking here'. Check 019's book and 018's; loads of 'parking courtesy' for moving trucks, all arranged in advance just by calling the district desk.

Hey everybody... guess what? Our good Alderman are going to make decisions this month about the Ward lines based on the latest census. Public meetings start tomorrow on the north side. Check out Chicago breaking News for more info. There is a list of dates and locations. We should show up and tell them now that we only need 25 Wards. They have to make decisions by Dec 1. Let's go! Cut 25!

11/01/2011 08:50:00 PM

Yes, let's all go to the aldermanic meetings to tell our alderman that we don't need so many aldermen and the amount of aldermen should be cut. Good luck with that. (I don't think my alderman is going to be particularly receptive to that.)

You must be one of his drinking buddies that he took care of. McCotter and the rest of the bosses from that time are the crew responsible for driving this Department into the iceberg repeatedly.

These 'great bosses' took care of the guys they socialised with and gave us the likes of Abbate and a whole host of other assholes.

Then these 'great bosses' sailed off into the sunset with a great pension and another great government job doing nothing.

These 'great bosses' screwed this Department by being part of Daley's political machine and we are here paying the bill.

Speaking of breaks....How about Racoon Eyes at a news conference yesterday talking about the body guard detail for the Daley family. Aon was doing lots of business with the City of Chicago all those years but I guess Richie left that bribe.

I don't know what district you work, my friend. But, in 002 requests for "courtesy" parking for many churches are read at roll call.....FROM THE C/O BOOK! There are plenty of those throughout the city, but I'll bet you they have been removed from the C/O Books since this topic has gained traction.

This Fire Captain is the son of former Fire Commissioner Edward Altman who in 1990 fired 7 firemen and suspended about 20 others for a rowdy firehouse party in which the notorius "N" word was uttered numerous times. It's funny how that fickled finger of fate works. Hopefully more press attention will cause this story to reach the masses. The 7 fired firefighters are probably waiting with baited breath to see if this story comes to light. Those in city hall will probably put the kabash onthestorybecause they're desperately trying to mesh the CFD with the CPD to eliminate duplication of service. Ain't that right Rahm?
