Bribe ’em: Sneed’s dumber-than-a-box-of-rocks award goes to the meter maid who reportedly took a $20 bribe from a teenage motorist in the form of a personal check for scratching a parking ticket.
◆ The backstory: The meter maid, Jamila Judkins , 36, was about to write the ticket when the ticketee pleaded with her to forget it.
◆ The bribe: Judkins, who worked for the Chicago Department of (ka-ching) Revenue, allegedly said she’d make the ticket disappear for $20. Because the teen had no cash, he used a blank check from his parents to pay her.
◆ The kicker: When he returned home, the teen told his parents, who called the police, sparking an investigation that revealed Judkins deposited the check in her personal bank account the same day. Judkins was charged with felony bribery and was placed on a $5,000 bond Tuesday

While the printed media provides Sunday papers off of newspaper trucks, the TV media bites us. Unless there is a specific permit involved start taking enforcement action against TV trucks and the like. If they run a red light - ticket them, if they are parked on the sidewalk along LSD to provide live video - ticket them & make them move, if they place their vehicles in a such a way that a normal vehicle would be ticketed, do so unto them.
As a great howling begins be sure to use the radio to announce that you are taking enforcement action against a media vehicle. This is a sure fire way to eliminate the “he said - she said” situation. Even better should you receive a direct order not to take enforcement, use the radio to cancel the tow per order of “the deputy..”, or whoever. Recorded transmissions are hard to refute later.
Find and carefully read the ordinance and statute citations that apply to the media. I believe you will find that the lowliest patrol officer can make the biggest media truck with a satellite disk move to a legal parking space.
Now also be mindful that the media is surreptitiously recording every word you say. So be very careful about what you say, on the scene of an incident, to a fellow officer, you may have to eat those words.
If you wish to truly walk into harms way, wait until they begin a live broadcast to use a loudspeaker to tell them to move along.

Had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Daley on many occasions both on/off the job and never had anything but nice things to say about her. She dealt with a terrible disease with grace, dignity and courage. Having lost multiple family members to this nightmare, I can offer nothing but thoughts and prayers to the family in this time of sorrow.

Did anyone catch the article in "Chicago Breaking News" aka fibune about the firefighter injured during lower West side blaze? Since when has Chicago had a lower West side? Does that imply that we have a middle and upper West side as well? Could it be that the author is either from Manhattan or went to school in Manhattan and never had the benefit of working for City News and learning the ropes?

Looks like they finaly getting along to a Sgt list. Look for merit packets in the next 2 weeks. They have to use money that was set aside or lose it. Word is enough money for 120 from the last 2 budgets but would expect closer to 75 or 80. Supe wants them to have some time at grade before the G8/Nato summits next summer.
Budget is the same thing for Dics however Supe wants to wait until all the reorganization is done so not to retrain new promotees again. Probably not gonna happen for a while then get put on hold for the summits.

Civillian question. Who are the guys in the unmarked cars in tshirts/jeans and vests? (I'm curious both what they actually do, and what the brass thinks they do).
They're not fooling anyone in terms of being under cover since the cars are very obviously cop cars, and the way they are dressed is obviously police.
What is the point? They're out of uniform, but not undercover.

You got that right. These young PO's who work in these areas now, cannot even imagine what these neighborhoods once were. I grew up in Englewood---oh never mind, I get F' sick thinking about what it turned into.
To the person who asked if Maggie Daley ever attended a Police Officer's funeral the answer is yes. She was at the funeral of Officer Hauser who was killed in the line of duty. She attended the mass at St William's Parish. I personaly saw her there.
What the heck is going on in 016? The savage is out of control, section 8 all over and burglaries out the yin yang and the Tact Lt is bring medical role abusers and Riccio's Kids on the team. ..I believe the Department will test an officer for using steroids only if there is a complaint. Since the complaint would involve the ILLEGAL use of anabolic steroids, the complaint could be made anonymously.

The medical while a visible benny does not really cost the city anything. The city does not replace you when you go on medical your unit will just work short.
If the city was serious about the medical abuse they would only go after those who abuse it but that might bring them into conflict with the clout heavy.

Yes, I did see her at St. Bedes a while back, attending the funeral Church Services for one of our slain Police officers. She was with Shortshanks, Weiss, and a few other Assholes.

I fucked up and forgot to write the date on a residential parking permit. They put it right on top of my fop sticker. In may opinion, as to say fuck you; we don't care who your are.
I am ok. The ticket was my fault. I fully accept responsibility.

Cant say forsure, but I don't recall ever seeing her. They have always been about themselves, so the only funeral she may have gone to was one that she personally knew. On another note. I love how the media tlaks about the "Daley's day" has always been sunday. That's the excuse they use for never going to St. Judes. But if anyone recalls when Daley was selling off the city to get the olympics he spent all day sunday showing the olympic people around, but could never spend one hour at St. Judes.

Looks like they finaly getting along to a Sgt list. Look for merit packets in the next 2 weeks. They have to use money that was set aside or lose it. Word is enough money for 120 from the last 2 budgets but would expect closer to 75 or 80. Supe wants them to have some time at grade before the G8/Nato summits next summer.
Budget is the same thing for Dics however Supe wants to wait until all the reorganization is done so not to retrain new promotees again. Probably not gonna happen for a while then get put on hold for the summits.

Here is Loevy & Loevy's scam, they don't take any of the award in fees. They only sue in Federal Court. Whatever the judgement is for the plaintiff, all of it goes to that party.
Loevy & Loevy then asks the court for legal fees and submits a bill. The client doesn't pay it, the City does, if they lose the case. That's how it works in Federal Court.
Anyone remember Flint Taylor suing on behalf of one of the Wilson Brothers? The People's Law Office asked for and received damages for their client of $1.00 (one dollar)

Well the Sgt. in charge of the Command Van gets out and approached the media vehicle crews and tells them to move, they ignored, out he comeswith a ticket book and writes about 9-10 cars, he then proceeds to order tows on every one of the trucks, the tow trucks come and hooks 4 vehicles and then the media decides that this Sgt. meant business and moved. I walk up to the Sgt. and tell him he has a big set of balls, and he said that he had enough of thier crap and that he just doesn't deal well with threats of being dumped, etc. I saw him again on another job and told him I remebered him and asked if anything ever came about the tows, and he just looked at me and said, Nothing was done and smiled. I sure wish I could get this Sgt. to work in 001 with us.
Anyone who talks up for any Aldermen, Mayor and or other political hack needs their heads examined. They sold off the city for their own gain. The parking meters, sky way, ripping up an airport and all the privatization with their friends and families owning the companies. The Aldermen vote 50 to Zero backing all this nonsense and telling us we are clock watchers. Whoever posted the above post must have some relationship to the arrestee, because if you have all your facts straight that Sergeant is a hell of a cop. He worked in 007, and was a detective out south, and is all about looking out for other cops so the cops kid must of been a little asshole and deserved it!

XO is going into effect 13th Period (08 Dec). Don't know about other changes but we were told that some of the issues with the Captains have been resolved and the others will have to be grieved. They want this up and running on 08 Dec.

Don't feel too bad -- even a rich guy's house can be a dead loss these days. I saw one on TV, huge mansion, built on a hillside with a spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

I work in 008,and run into coppers kids all the time on the west end 811, most of them are ok, but we talked to a coppers kid and told him to stop drinking,made him spill the beer,he calls dad who is in a unit who with lights and siren came to wentworth park and bitched my partner and me out. What did this coward do next? yep got a cr on myself and partner for bullshit. He tried to bully us telling us he is a "Unit rep for FOP," and that he could have us "moved"! Ok goof we are still here!
NYPD here....What are the CPD residency requirements? I've seen a few posts of late relating to this. Do you have to live within city limits?

Someone must have some pretty serious dirt on this guy, because he must be able to justify to downtown what he is doing and why he is losing decent officers and forcing these other non-working medical abusers onto the tact sergeants. Isn't there still an IAD approval needed to be assigned to a tact/ gang/ ocd unit? If so, how does one get approved after hitting the medical to avoid working midnights and waltzing her way onto a team? I've heard that not only is this sticking around but the age may actually be lowered to 52 or 53.
Think about it it's a very inexpensive way for the city to shred the high salaries of the old timer coppers. They lose our high salaries, reduce the number of officers, and only have to pay our healthcare premiums. I've even heard that the city's contribution to our healthcare premiums are federally subsidized under this program. It's a win - win for the city and seems likely to stick around.

They're not fooling anyone in terms of being under cover since the cars are very obviously cop cars, and the way they are dressed is obviously police.

As far as lowering the age, this year the city only allowed 199 firemen to take advantage of the 55 if the city wanted older officers to retire wouldnt that also apply to the CFD
How can there be a federal subsidy if there are no premiums.
The 55 plan is a negotiated benefit and it has to be in the contract and no one including any FOP officer can tell you what the contract will bring. In a worse case scenario, the 55 could go to arbitration and the abritrator rule against it
When they are running for office they will tell you alot of things

The point is.......there is no point. I myself have been on the job for over 20 years and have wondered why these officers dress like they do. Grant it the unmarked car is harder to make out from a distance (compared to a marked car), but beyond that.....
The official version is it is a spot to put someones kid who just got off probation. Walking around in civilian dress but with the vest (usually in the black cover) on the outside and the duty belt on fools no one.
But it looks cool. And you get to impress the ladies, making them think that you are more than just a glorified beat cop.
