Police Shootings Up

  • This has been a tumultuous year for the Chicago Police Department. A new superintendent shook up long-established units, thousands of city cops got new assignments, and, according to new stats from the Independent Police Review Authority. Deadly force is up significantly in 2011.

Chicago police officers were involved in more shootings the first nine months of this year than all of last year. Up to today, according to police records, officers here have shot 59 people, killing 22 of them -- nearly twice as many as last year. In all of 2010, Chicago police-involved shootings claimed 13 lives.

Fraternal Order of Police officials say the increase in shootings by officers is a result of understaffing and of gang and drug units being gutted -- all of which F.O.P. spokesman Pat Camden says allows more guns to stay on the street.

At least Pat is out there explaining exactly why the numbers are up. And it's the fault of the criminals, not the police as Goudie implies.

Ray Charles, even with the handicap of being both blind AND dead can see that the last 10 years of intentional shrinkage through attrition and the ongoing "take it to The Police" campaign by shortshanks, j-fled, 9.5, mcmooky, the media and the noisy supporters of the catered to constituents has set the table for this by EMBOLDENING & ENCOURAGING GHETTO DOGS TO DROP SHOTS AT THE POLICE!

Which in turn forces Policemen to kill the shit out of that ass...

Right before our eyes we're witnessing the total subversion of common sense understanding of the actions taken by people in the face of life or death situations.

Dead Coppers are good press & tasty sound bites.

Don't give the legacy criminal-political & media cabal of Chicago the satisfaction of seeing us bury KIA bretheren while they wipe false tears for bright lights then laugh and motherfuck the blue suits when the news trucks drive away...

Anybody need further convincing that this city is destroyed beyond salvaging yet?

You know, the legacy criminal political & media cabal of Chicago and their horde of fertile, straight democratic voting catered to constituents?

The decent, law & common sense abiding, captive taxpayers have been elbowed away from the table but are expected to pay the ever increasing bill.

Said "reboot" occurring so as not to let an ongoing crisis go to waste.

The real problem occurs when men possessed of common sense, decency, ethics, morality and sanity; try to use the "Kentucky Windage" of the everyman to compensate for the eye watering, headache inducing attempt at trying to jibe reason & rationality with the utterly shameless shit-flinging crazy of 9.5 & mcmooky's talk and actions in regard to the city and the fate of CPD.

Especially given the consensus that the lose of control of the city's streets is nearly total and irreversible. Given the current anti-Police climate.

Maybe it's good that an entire Police Department is policing strictly to protect careers and hard earned assets by staying alive/surviving by any lawful means necessary to stay out of the crosshairs of CCSAO and by extension USDOJ which is on record as stating it was "going after" Policemen for even the slightest hint of an allegation of hurting a catered to constituent's feelings...

Let alone actually doing something worthy of real tort action scrutiny.

If this department was fully staffed - 13,500 strong minimum - there would be a decrease in police/felon confrontations, and likewise, deadly force incidents. Eliminating units has nothing to do with it when watches in the districts are barely staffed, lock-ups are closed pulling arresting officers off the street for longer processing times, we're running a LOT of 1-man cars, we have incompetent and indifferent bosses, gang bangers are bolder, 17-year olds are now "juveniles", 48 hr rule for charging, can't hold on to witnesses...Jesus, I'm getting tired just listing the reasons as I can go on and on.

Obama Targeting Police Nationwide to Divert from Fast and Furious
By Rachel Alexander
12/23/2011

Either there has been a huge increase in discrimination by law enforcement during the Obama administration, or Obama is targeting law enforcement for politically motivated reasons.

In the current era of heightened sensitivity to racism and police brutality, it makes no sense that abuses by law enforcement are increasing. The U.S. Department of Justice’s sudden flurry of investigations finding massive amounts of discrimination and abuses by police agencies around the country is coincidentally occurring at the same time the U.S. Department of Justice is undergoing a highly publicized Congressional investigation into Fast and Furious.

Law enforcement is a natural target for the left, which often seems to prefer criminals over the police. Alleging vague charges of racism or racial profiling is becoming one of the most prevalent ways the left dishonestly demonizes and discredits its opponents. Made-up charges of racism are difficult to defend against, because almost any difference in treatment between two people of different ethnic backgrounds can be blamed on racism with no way of proving otherwise. You cannot get inside someone’s head to prove that he had no racist thoughts; it is one person’s word against another’s....

The rise in shootings has nothing to do with allegedly 'gutted' narc & gang teams, as has been said by the Orange One. It has everything to do with the brazen attitude of today's criminals, along with the poor parenting skills of many today. A kid won't have any respect for law & order if the parent doesn't; it's also been proven that children who haven't been taught a
strong sense of right & wrong by their parents by the
age of 4 to 5 are pretty much doomed to have issues
along that route.

Boys and Girls,

I fully know the side effects of a police involved shooting, trust me-I do. In spite of those effects, it is whole-heartedly more important that you go home safely to your families at the end of your shift. Screw the politicians, screw the naysayers, screw the media and the bleeding heart liberals, you, your partner’s and your peer’s safety are of the utmost importance during your career. My point here – in addition to telling all the above to go screw themselves, most of them are no friend of the police, but my point is NEVER HESITATE. If someone puts themselves in the position to be shot by the police then; so be it. You and I both know that police officers across this Nation are not out gunning people down. We are not murders, we are not killers, or criminals, we are trained professionals hired to protect society against the evil that lurks among them. We defend the good people of this City from the predators who seek to do them and their families harm. We face the killers, robbers, gang bangers and gun-toting psychopaths so they don’t have to. On occasion, that confrontation necessitates that we lawfully discharge our weapon and shoot, injure and sometimes kill the criminal. Police Officers and other law enforcement professionals are reactionary during confrontational situations, and merely respond to the actions of the offender. If he or she acts violently during our interaction then they will force us to react. That reaction is both training and survival response and is by no means an unlawful or unnecessary action or reaction by the officer(s) involved.

I want to remind you as I do on a daily basis that you need to back each other up on every assignment and be prepared to do battle in every interaction you encounter on the street. If you feel threatened, or find yourselves in a threatening situation, whether it is by a grandmother, a teen or a thug, you need to be prepared to defend yourself and the people around you. Please DO NOT WAIT to become a victim. You all know when the situation is present. If they have a firearm; shoot them immediately. If they are aggressive with any weapon; shoot them immediately. If they possess any weapon other than a firearm; give them direction to disarm, and if during that encounter they respond aggressively, then react appropriately and shoot them.

There will ALWAYS be lawsuits, some lawyers are shady and people are greedy. You will be vindicated during the investigation, no matter who the investigating body is. The Detectives, IPRA or the Feds, it will be determined you were within your rights. Punitive is punishment for an intentional act done outside the scope of your employment. We all make mistakes; it’s only punitive when you try to remedy a mistake afterward.

Bullets are cheap, life is not. Protect the citizens around you, protect your partner and your peers and protect yourself. Heroes are people who save others and those who willfully engage a deadly encounter. Dead heroes can only be honored and remembered for their duty, dedication and valor; I’d prefer to shake your hand.

A Boss – (Not a Gold Star, just a white shirt)

Most likely, with the ultra-liberal political climate within CPD Administration, I would bet that there will be an even more restrictive firearms/ shooting policy coming soon, especially with the cooked books on crime dropping again this year. Hard to think like a liberal pencil-neck, but that's the obtuse way they view things. Remember, in their pea-brains, it's OUR fault so many felonious offenders are getting shot by CPD, not the offenders.

An illegal gun is an inanimate object that in itself cannot hurt anybody. The danger is the lowly two-legged animal known as the "gang-banger," who has virtually nothing but evil in his heart, and wicked deeds for his agenda. He points a gun at a police officer and shoots, because there is nothing good in him to deter such an evil act. CPD Chief James Maurer publicly called this type of animal a "savage," and that is exactly what they are, deadly, sub-human savages.

The reason that police shootings are up is largely elementary math: the number of police on the street is down, the anti-gang units have been gutted, and the number of young gang-banging sub-human savages who are coming of age, is increasing...savages who are eager to shoot at, and try to kill, police officers.

It doesn't help that we have a spineless command staff at headquarters. They are the fruition of the Peter Principle: they have been promoted, by their clout, to their level of incompetence...so instead of true leaders, we have incompetent gold stars running the show.

It doesn't help, either, that after 21 years of having a police-hating mayor, we now have another police-hater in Rahm Emanuel. If Rahm liked the police, he would find a way in his budget to hire more police instead of allowing our numbers to continue to dwindle, and he would have given us a superintendent that had at least an ounce of integrity, one who cared for the working cop more than stroking his own enormous ego.

Keep your guns cleaned, oiled, and ready to fire, because in the next few years, police-related shootings in Chicago will increase exponentially.

The Justice Department is very interested in this issue and the department can't provide answers to simple questions that the Justice Department is asking.

This is all going to blow up in the next month regarding a shooting last summer in the 7th District. Expect federal charges against the officer AND supervisors who failed to make an arrest or present this evidence to the Cook Co SA.

The biggest problem is that the Chicago Police Dept currently has no independent criminal review for police shootings. There is no Grand Jury investigation. There is no investigation by the Cook Co SA unless they are contacted by the department.

IPRA has no authority to conduct a criminal investigation. IPRA cannot make arrests or serve subpoenas. Their review is for departmental policy violations only. IPRA is simply a Daley creation to silence the media by telling the media that every shooting is "under investigation." NO OTHER police department in the nation handles police shootings like Chicago.

Expect that before the end of next year, all police shootings will be investigated by the State Police. Since virtually all police shootings are justified, this is probably best for the officers involved and their reputations.

No matter what argument they use to explain the increase in the number of police related shootings or assaults/batteries on the Chicago Police, it comes down to manpower - plain and simple. Chuck Goudie, et al, has broadcast this "news" for shock value and to put us in a bad public light. Rather than cite statistical relationships between the number of officers vs police shootings vs population between Chicago and New York City, he only deals with generalities. Still, this is just a sensational puff piece to inflame public opinion, create greater animosity against the police and once again Goudie submits a contribution in search of that ever elusive Emmy.

If you've met this clown while working the street or had anything close to a conversation with him, you immediately come to realize that he is out for sensationalism and building his career. Long story short - when I was in Gambling/Vice about 20 years ago this guy wanted to do an interview of a fellow UC officer while we were working a long term investigation. Goudie promised he would hide the officer's face and disguise his voice. I warned the officer not to trust him, but he did it anyway. Low and behold, Goudie set it up so you could identify the officer facially and his voice was not really disguised. When it aired we were mortified and concerned that he had blown the officer's cover. It did . . . but not with the principle offender we were looking at. Our CO was pissed, but it was water under the bridge and nothing could be done about it by then. The operation came to fruition, but not without a lot of scrambling. Goudie, meanwhile, made no apologies - even when he was later confronted. Don't trust the media - for anything.

Police shootings would go down if the law abiding citizens were allowed to "Carry and Conceal" and "Castle Law for their homes and businesses" would be in effect!

Then the honest folks would handle their businesses without depending on stretched, no manpower, police force in Chicago that we have now!

Note that Mr. Goudie compares New York City with Chicago which is less than a third of the population of "the Big Apple".

I find it intriguing that this "investigative reporter" cavalierly ignores the fact that New York City has only one more city council member than Chicago's fifty aldermen.

Methinks that the honchos at the local ABC affiliate would not dare touch on this shocking fact with a 10-foot pole. Now why would that be?

While you're at it, can you offer any rebuttal to the fact that the most politically corrupt major city in the nation has no provisions for term limits and a voter recall referendum initative for our internationally notorious and sleazy city and county elected officials?

What say you, Channel 7?

Dont believe the shootings have anything to do with the economy or the number of police on the street. Things like this run in cycles and shit just happens, really no way of preventing it. On warm weekends during the summer, one will have 20 shootings and the next weekend with the same weather and amount of police on the street will have 10, just like murders, most are not preventable and if the police are present the offender waits until they leave or he goes to a different location and commits the murder or robbery

Now as it has always been, there is only a handful of coppers who abide by that rule. The rest drive by as the savages MF you. They challenged the coppers on the south side and they backed down. That was when it was lost. That is when they did not fear us any longer. Too many empty uniforms on the south side now. The criminals have lost their fear of the police.
The public is doomed.

12/23/2011 01:05:00 AM

------------------------------

No doubt. When there is nothing left for them to lose it becomes survival of the fittest.

Although if you consider things from another perspective..a perspective that isn't sent to the public through the corporate mass media filters that twist and turn reality. Then, I suppose you could be referring to the investment bankers and the Washington regulators, etc.. that are the ones that have lost their fear of the law.

I agree and rightly so.

There's no fear of the police or the laws on Wall Street or with the people on the receiving end of the ill gotten "campaign contributions"

Over 200,000 frauds by Bank of America's Countrywide financial division for predatory lending alone and not one exec is in leg irons. Not one!

Don't even get me started on the credit default swap frauds based upon lies as to the credit worthiness of mortgages being bundled or the robo-signing mockery of court affidavits being fraudulently filed.

So what is there to fear?

Lisa Madigan cuts a plea bargain deal with Bank of America as they buy their way out. NO FEAR THERE.

The mainstream media presents that plea bargain deal as a great success that we should all revel around and be proud of -- we should all be happy because some unknown anon source that is supposed to be an expert in these matters says it's good we should all just take their word that it's all good...Well I'm not happy are you?

Get tough politicians with great media fanfare sign new laws like they are going to fix this problem right here and now by creating new departments. However in smaller and lessor seen meetings those new departments get neutered with little to no funding to be able to do anything meaningful.

So who you kidding? I said it before and will keep saying it. Broken Windows MY ASS.

Broken Windows bullshit is being used as psychological bullshit to relieve the officers guilt and shame for applying more pressure on the middle class and poverty stricken.

Broken Windows is being used as a distraction away from the REAL crimes against humanity. All those professional courtesy crimes of the clouted ones.

Broken Windows is being used to give officers a sense of accomplishment and worth while the corrupt organized crimes run rampant.

I'll tell you what.

You can take the top ten biggest bust over the last year here in Chicago or in Illinois for that fact and add them up -- it doesn't even come close to the crimes that the CEO's and the politicians are pulling off and the number of victims that were impacted by those crimes.

So don't give me this Broken Windows shit until you start busting people at the top where it can really make a difference.

GO sell it to someone else.

Obama Targeting Police Nationwide to Divert from Fast and Furious
By Rachel Alexander
12/23/2011

Either there has been a huge increase in discrimination by law enforcement during the Obama administration, or Obama is targeting law enforcement for politically motivated reasons.

.....

========================

Discrimination by law enforcement officials? Hell yeah!

Discrimination by political officials? HELL YEAH!

A trick bag by the city mayors that think their police forces are their private armies to do as they please with complete immunity.

When the shit comes down and that clout that you though you had to protect you disappears there will be no-one to protect you. We know who the guilty parties are. We see how unequally the laws are being applied. Not all of you but enough of you.

You will be judged by your own actions and not be able to hide behind your orders by your superiors.

Think! You have a brain Use it!

Why are the journalist and photographers being targeted if there is no wrong doing? Why is Chicago threatening people with felonies for taking pictures if there's nothing bad or wrong going on?

For more insight, map the locations of most batteries to police officers. Its not rocket science. Its not manpower or sleep deprivation or any other issue in my opinion. It is merely more brazen armed violence in the city. Because of that, the police have to do what they have to do to protect citizens and themselves.

You sound like someone who is well educated. Alas, methinks you have no real world experience. I'm sure your THEORIES about the hardships facing the residents of the lower socio-economic segment of society and the rosy solutions to these hardships sounded like music to your ears when they were presented to you in the safe environment of a college classroom. I would know. The problem is when you take those THEORIES and attempt to practically apply them to the real world. It doesn't work. I like Nature vs Nurture. There will never be a shortage of shitbird gang-banger leaches of society with no respect for life or property. How did they get his way? I would argue they were not born as shitbirds, but their personalities evolved with environmental influences that only the ghetto can uniquely provide. If grandma is trying to raise you on one meal a day while she smokes crack with the new boyfriend of the week while you run around in a Walgreens plastic bag substituting as diapers while your mother is out smoking leaf and making another sibling for you...............you're fucked. The odds are very high that the streets will raise you and you will become a gang-banging shitbird. And you know what? If fucking Bill Cosby is ridiculed for preaching personal responsibility for the black community, what fucking shot do you think YOU have with your bullshit abstract THEORIES? If you speak of a need for personal responsibility in the ghetto, you are automatically labeled as RACIST. That is why the ghetto is fucked.

By the way, here's something that your college educated mind will have a hard time wrapping itself around. Many people in the ghetto do not WANT your life. They already get free housing, free money from social security from some bullshit "disability" (anger problem, bi-polar, can't read, was shot, etc), free groceries, and free housing. Why in the HELL would they want to work forty plus hours a week at a job and pay for everything themselves? Wake the fuck up. Take your THEORIES and go get your fuckin shine box.

We tried that, with so many failed programs (i.e. Head Start, Great Society, people welfare, corporate welfare, etc.). More funding for more failed programs isn't the answer.

Create a society, akin to Little House on the Prairie, where one works and eats. If one doesn't work, one doesn't eat.

What is tired is your "it's not their fault - you would do the same if you were disadvantaged" mantra.

There are plenty of poor people that manage to better themselves. There are plenty of poor people that manage decent lives on what they earn.

Society has been too kind to the criminal. There is too much forgiveness. Make people, people of all economic groups responsible for what they do and the world becomes a better place.

Fuck forgiveness. Let society witness punishment....... and merry Christmas to the good people.

Rise in police shootings are directly a result of SOS being disbanded. Who on the south side drew a line in the sand and if it was crossed there was hell to pay. Now as it has always been, there is only a handful of coppers who abide by that rule. The rest drive by as the savages MF you. They challenged the coppers on the south side and they backed down. That was when it was lost. That is when they did not fear us any longer. Too many empty uniforms on the south side now. When Valadez was killed, we were sent to 007 and we locked up anything that moved. The entire building was filled with arrestees, but the arresting officers were all outside units. That in itself says volumes.

SOS R.I.P...move on old-timer

Anyone I ever worked with in SOS late 90's to mid 2000's wouldn't come on here to brag or toot their horn.

Maybe you were proud of the results and effect of the unit thats cool and so were we but STEALTH mode and being humble speaks volumes too!

We know what we did and so did the Department and even the shitheads when they saw the beat tags 4300, 4400, 4600 they knew what was coming! Its over now.

I worked the 4300 side for "the Baron" (not saying which team) I put my share of pictures up on the Jimmy Darling tote board. Point being I respected my time there and met great guys and for the past 3 years we have had a Xmas gathering at the Web pub in 014 coordinated by NH.

God Bless you and be careful out there and show up next year and we can B.S. about Sgt. K.B's sunday car inspections and the auto parts that use to be collected by the guys from all over 011 and put on his desk!

I remember when they put a whole rear fender on there!

Good Times...

OT new dirictive out cracking down on limited duty status. All the dogs at 35th street up in arms.
You pretty much have 365 days to use for your whole career on limted duty and at that point you either go back on the street or disability.
.

12/23/2011 09:38:00 PM

About time. Screen out the sbusers and force them to make a decision. Street duty or disability. There are officers that have been on light or limited duty for years. This has to stop. There are limited duty officers for non-duty related reasons in every unit. Time to make a choice. I hope the department enforces the new rules soon.

We can't stand these clueless morons that try to 2nd guess how we respond to mutts that are trying to kill us. We can't win with the media and there crooked politician buddies. Thank you Sgt. Northen for speaking up for us since we can't use our names here. It's great that you use your name and great reputation as a street cop that you fight the good fight for us who can't give our names. I would not hold my breath waiting for Channel 7 to reply about the # of aldermen in the other big cities. I read your earlier comment that Chicago should have only 17 aldermen not 50. They know that we know this whole city is crooked as a cork screw. Nothing is legit on this job. It's all clout. Thanks again, sarge. I wish I could have worked for you. Merry Christmas.

Who is Chuck Goudie to have the nerve to speak on life or death police situations he knows nothing about.

I checked Northern's post under "Cross Your Fingers!" blog. I'm a believer. Like the other big cities, Chicago population needs only 17 aldermen. Ch. 7 is in bed with the democRAT politicians so the subject is off limits. They are phonies just like the Fibune and ScumTimes.

What a fucking load this is!

We direct everyone's attention to the newest realease from the 9.5 & Co. Ministry of Fuckery, Propaganda & Media Spin/Manipulation...

Sunday Fibune Op/Ed screed...

Steve Chapman is breathlessly rotating his dentures about how "crime is falling" and how the current mean season being endured by The Police is "The Golden Age of Law Enforcement."

*Joker Style Laughter*

HAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAHAHAHAH!

Golden Age according to who? O_o ?

DOJ/FBI have been on record for decades about how Chicago crime stats as compiled (with direct oversight/interferrence by City Hall) aren't worth the ink on the paper they're written on.

To paraphrase a once upon a time math instructor... "A viable constant rubbed against a bullshit variable makes for a horseshit product..."

shortshanks and 9.5 didn't/don't want the "constants" to be known because the numbers are just that bad. That's why so many bullshit variables are making for an overabundance of horseshit products (answers).

This op-ed as all the makings of concerted push-back by 9.5 in light of the Chicago Magazine article regarding the alliance of shit-heads & politicians going a long way toward making this city unlivable for the captive taxpaying citizen.

The cartographic overlays of gang territories, homicides and failing schools as posted by SCC had to have been EYE OPENING to a LOT OF PEOPLE!

Chapman was forced to kneel & swallow... Well not really... Media types here will stoop, kneel and bend over of their own volition because they not only have no collective spine but also because they glory in the whoredoms they've committed against the citizens of this city.

Called shot is bullshit... Corner pocket...

*CLACK*

The Golden Era of The War Against The Police is more like it...

These motherless fucks are trying so desperately to sell the most funky, off-brand sort of crazy that even THEY whole-heartedly embrace it knowing full well the sheer fuckery of it all...

Sell crazy somewhere else. We're stocked clear up to the ceiling with that shit...

The Policeman mutters "Viva Hate" under his breath as he rolls to the next backlogged job...

Merry Christmas to the too thin Blue Line...

Stay safe and watch out for each other.

It galls the powers that be to know that there are still people who believe Policemen as a whole are very precious...

The bestest, craziest, maddest, baddest, most big hearted, funnest & funniest soldiers in God's Army!

What the hell does "more guns on the street" have to do with police shootings? The police are the ones doing the shooting and their guns are legal, not the criminals.

This perpetuates the myth that an offender needs to have a gun to be a threat worthy of shooting and that "guns on the street" are a bad thing. In the hands of a gangbanger they are, but not in the hands of a law-abiding citizen. The media never differentiates between the two and these sounds bites don't help.

What is the latest mapping and statistics relating concentrations of parolees, felon probationers and gangs? Consider some involvement in education of fine youth. It doesn't take a genius to figure end result.

I was and still am a working copper, I was in the old SOs and MSF, as a Sgt. I held my team to high standards, My team never stole a pinch, when we worked in the districts I made it mandatory that we always took in the in progress jobs, we were first to assist any district unit. If we got to a job first, we would give disregards hoping that we would be doing a district x\car a favor or not having to run across the distct on a BS job, but many a times we were chastised on the zone for doing just that, Many officers really were grateful for the helping hand, but the dogasses thought they were getting screwed because they would want to spent alot of time down on some bullshit job. go figure, bottom line is the city can't make it without outside units helping out. Bottom line is the sooner the workingcops band together and the Sgts. and Lts. stop protecting the useless non working coppers the safer we all will be, how do you justify 3 hrs on a battery arrest.
