2012 v 2011

January 2012 started with a bang. Actually a bunch of bang-bangs and the homicide rate shot up some 44% as compared to January 2011.

We pointed out that Sneed was carrying water for the department and the Rahm administration by reporting that the homicide rate has slowed to a mere 9% increase in mid-February.

Now comes word that the February 2012 numbers have surpassed the February 2011 numbers in homicides and aggravated batteries...whoops, we mean murders and shootings, so everything from this point forward in February is bonus territory.

And a warm week is on tap for the start of March.

Anyone know where the slugs from the Crystal Ball Unit wound up going when Brett-Boy bailed after the farce was revealed? All these crazy numbers got me to thinking about something that never was. I'd hope the CBU all stars weren't sent back to push a beat car anywhere. What a waste of talent that would be.

Well, I guess we hit the bonus round tonight on the southside, again.

What I find so unfucking believable about some of the citizens is that they believe so many myths about the police, e.g. code of silence; eating doughnuts; ticket quotas to be made at the end of the month, etc., etc. Yet, when you tell them that crime is being killed on paper in a big way and you give them hints, leads, and other information to confirm that, they still would choose to believe myth over fact.

The boldness of crimes seem to be increasing, particularly in the "safe" parts of town. Well, I would like to see some politicians downtown stand up for the whole citizenry of Chicago and not for a select few and demand that equal protection be afforded to all.

I do know this, barring such a miracle like that ever taking place, if Joey Shithead breaks into my home, he is leaving in a body bag.

I am not the police, but I have police in my family. Their stories seem to match with what I see and I am sick and tired of it.

Again the silence from McNutty and Rahm on this is deafening. Awful quick to brag but nut so much when things aren't so rosy.

Looks like "OTIS THE DRUNK, JERRY" is not doing so well with his BIG COMSTAT meetings. The low morale and crime will continue. This POLICE DEPARTMENT better wake up!! Things are going to get worse!

As of today as long as the numbers are right on your pay check and you can count the members of your family, including yourself, coming home safe every night are the only ones that count. We have always been fed bullshit by our "leaders' but now they have a tube down our throats 24/7. Fuck them. Take care of yourself, your family, and your fellow officers. THEY are the ones who count!

Yep,

watch how the corporate media machine shifts the focal point on homicides.

Instead of the usual "this month vs the same month in the prior year" we will see comparisons to the latest peak in January and then they will tell you how much crime has fallen even though it's up compared to last years month.

Either that or we obfuscate the numbers by presenting data at the district level instead of the overall city.

Ya know like homicides dropped in the 9th look over here don't look over there at the 15th or whatever..pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

There's a long history in the media with this numbers game b.s.

Ever notice how they ALWAYS compare the stock market to the 1929 crash, an historic low, in all their stories in order to paint a pretty picture?

the fighting 017th is leading area 5 in homeycides--- the district has been stripped bare bones of manpower--- 016 is also in a shambles--- it feels good to write out that 6,000 dollar property tax check every year--- you can't send your kid to the public school because it is loaded with section 8 scumbags and you might see the police drive down your block once a year--- soon it will be time to get as far away from illinois and chicago as possible and I feel sorry for the ones who have a long way to go....

Guess what? The only ones that notice or care are the police. Have you heard anyone complain about the higher murder rate? And think about it look at how many po's the city is down over past years. The crime isn't out of control. So why would the city be in a hurry to hire more? Until the public gets fed up and shows it during election time nothing will change. The departments new motto will be doing less with less.

As long as CPD and families are OK "rules of the jungle should always prevail" let the strongest animal survive! "Save more money in Garfield Park" should be the motto! More dead future IR/breeders/ welfare loafers no loss an absolute gain for the taxpaying citizens party on!

Homicide data is tough to manipulate ( not easy to hide the body), but homicide stats can be misleading (values can be manipulated). Last winter everyone crowed about the drop in Homicides (brutal weather), and this winter everyone howls about the rise in Homicides (spring-like weather). Valid comparisons would need to take out the weather/climate effect. All veteran officers know that the weather has a greater effect on crime than any enforcement gimmick tried so far. When "the sap is running", look out! Stay safe!

I don't use this phrase because it's overused on this blog and by police as a whole. But I do think that this summer will be pretty bad. Not the worse year ever, but on par with 2008. I think 500 homicides is realistic this year.

Stay safe officers this department doesnt give a shit about you...working police equals =lawsuits, firing, throwing you under the bus... The big brass show no support to there working police I hate to say it but I've learned to respect the non working police, dogs, lazy asses etc....for the way the treat the job...they are playing it smart!

The dog ass lazy officer makes us all look bad. You can still do your job, to a certain extent. You have to be smart, be safe, write good paper and cover yourself. The cop that got burned for doing his job by the department or in federal court and is now doing bare bone minimum is understandable but the multitude of dog ass lazy officers that have been that way from the begining of there career and remain a dog ass lazy officer until the end, there is no excuse.

It's Aggravated Battery and Homicide. You can call a horse a pony or a cat a kitten just to make it fluffy, but they're still horses and cats. Whatever fluff they want to feed the media and the politicians to spin the numbers is their bullshit to sell, but I’m not going to be a salesman for them. There are homicides and aggravated batteries, just like there are watch commanders, captains, lieutenants and sergeants, not just supervisors. We have historical precedent established with no need for change. The arrogance of McNutty and his nutsack companion Tracy to think they can come in here and demand we accommodate their east coast fantasies is a disgrace and a put down to every good Chicago Cop. These chumps are pathetic and I won’t accommodate their incompetency and manipulation.

Maybe if we mix "Quik Clot" in with their Red Pop and big Orange Popsicles and Yahoo....they will not bleed out and we can prevent future Homicides.....THINK ABOUT IT!

sounds about right. Back in the early 90's when we had 13,000 police we had 800-900 homicides, so now that we have about 9000 we should be under 500.
Oh wait we had 800 homicides and 13000 police, I thought, after reading this blog, if we had 13000 more police utopia would return.
