Parade Lawsuit

  • A middle-of-the-Loop protest rally and march on the opening day of the NATO summit would clog traffic and “drain” Chicago police resources as officers turn their attention to world leaders descending on the city and the Cubs and Sox squaring off at Wrigley Field — not to mention the regular duties throughout the city.

That’s the case Chicago officials made Tuesday before an administrative law judge hearing an appeal of the city’s decision to deny protesters a permit to march from Daley Plaza — which can hold a maximum 5,000 — south along State Street and Michigan Avenue to McCormick Place on May 20, opening day of the NATO summit.

An "administrative law judge?" We imagine that means he's appointed by the city which means this decision is preordained - the protestors are going to be stuck with 19 May as their date. That isn't to say they won't appeal - they will. And they might very well win.

What's truly amusing is what the city and brass are saying:

  • Debra Kirby, the police department’s chief of international relations, said the route protesters want would place a “significant drain” on resources.

She and others have argued that NATO would draw a larger number of dignitaries than the G-8.

That sounds so.....so.....so very familiar.

Why is it all about protecting the dignitaries and not about protecting the taxpayers?

Correct-a-mundo!

These are the same folks that hear your parking ticket beefs and will likely be the ones hearing your speed camera cases.

They're not judges at all, just apparatchiks whose job is to keep their job (and to vote democrat).

This should be interesting. The same group of racist assholes who have put Treyvon on a pedestal are now going to the scene of the shooting to find more "witnesses". We all know what they are going to say. These bastards have been lying about everything to do with this incident so why should they stop now.

For these protesters it has nothing to do with freedom of speech as it has to do with causing chaos. Their voices would be heard from a park, what they want is to disrupt all citizens lives. The face on TV ,( thayer?,) I have seen for yrs. at so many different protests too many for me to count.

Most P.O.s working cars are playing well together.
As for white shirts, we now have double the number of know nothing, clout promoted, under-medicated, nut jobs, who seem to thrive on making the lives of others miserable. Can some of them be placed on the next tranfer order, please!?!

Why don't they approve the permit with the requirement that if they want to have the permit they are required to hire off duty officers at double the pay, or time and half. Require this group to pay first and then Approve it. Just a thought to give them an option since its resources are the problem according to the city.

Just what are those resources?

Give out some numbers, Debra, in court under oath.

McMouth spouted out "We've got 13,000 Chicago Cops working on it." That's on video and available to be viewed. Let's get him on the witness stand, swear him in and ask how many Chicago Cops does the city really have?

So, someone finally admitting we dont have enough print. Are my eyes seeing this in print, significantbdrain. Sounds to me like the city admitting what we all have known for a long time. Every person that reads this, call your alderman daily. You, we are screwed, forget NATO, worry about your everyday safety.

andy thayer, the face and voice of the g-8 and nato protesters works for loevy and loevy law firm. his main objective is to make sure that the city and police over-react, and violate protesters constitutional rights, so that his law firm can file a suit on behalf of all the protesters and make the city pay big money in which loevy and loevy will get their share. how much did the city just pay out on the last protesters lawsuit??? andy thayer is no dummy, find out what he looks like and don't go near him...that alone will make him crazy!!! he wants to take a beating for the cause...and of course...the reward....piece of shit...

Oh, they will appeal. And they'll appeal to the federal courts. And the City will wind up compromising on something in order to get it over with.

And then the taxpayers will get stuck with several tens of thousands of dollars with of fees for the protesters' attorneys.

Guaranteed.

Too bad the P.O.'s,and one female in particular isn't playing well with the former 023 office staff. Arrogant, know-it-all with two minutes on the job and about 30 seconds on the street.

bad decision by the city to deny the permit--- if you give them the permit you know where they are going to be and plan appropriately--- now they are going to march anyway and that could be anywhere which will result in a mad scramble to get the proper resources in place....

Has been singer Chakka Kahn has released a new song in honor of Trayvon Martin. Wow. I will rush out to the store to get a copy. Maybe she did a duet with all but forgotten Sinbad. I am sure the Martin family will get a cut of any profits from this silly recording.

Let's not forget that rahm Emmanuel resides at 4228 n Hermitage...public information. Feel free NATO protesters to stop by with hooded sweatshirts, bottles (of iced tea ) in hand for a peaceful protest. It's okay...Obama and father phlem say there is nothing suspicious about it. Ask Bobby Rush...

attn > Young Chicago cops > I recently stumbled across a DVD at a suburban library titled > "CHICAGO 10"

It's about 1968 demonstrations in Chicago. Highly recommend it.
Contained a lot of live footage of the confrontations between CPD and the rioters/ demonstrators who repeatedly attempted to march from Grant Park to the old Amphitheatre.

Detailed the organizational efforts of the radical leaders who INTENTIONALLY sought confrontations with the CPD and did so with strategy to make both the city and CPD look bad while painting themselves as just innocent coincidental protestors.
Was quite an education for me, though you older veterans know all about it that era. The radicals back then were intentional in planning confrontation, violence, clashes etc.
Are there paralells to what's happening today ?

Every PO should have a photo of Andy Thayer of Loevy & Loevy and STEER CLEAR of the guy. He's an ambulance-chaser extraordinaire: he agitates to create civil disturbances that cause arrests so that the arrested can sue the city/CPD. Plain and simple.

Can someone arrest him in advance of May 1, for provocation or something, to remove him from NATO event organizing altogether? A vacation to Hawaii? This guy is absurdist street theatre at its worst.
