Warm Weekend On Tap
- Another day, another broken record.
After two days of 81-degree days that shattered previous records set in 1995, the temperature for today reached 82 degrees at O'Hare International Airport breaking the record of 78 degrees in 1945.
The unprecedented March warm spell began early this week and shows no sign of waning soon. The forecast calls for highs in the 70s well into next week, and the Chicago Weather Center says more records are expected to be broken.
We fully expect the March homicide numbers to surpass last year's totals this weekend, no matter what McCompStat has planned.

We need all the people we can spare to work the streets and they still have POWS trapped at call back, records, erps, etc...
Why are TS and CS from SOS not back on the streets after being cleared a couple years ago?
WTF does the media read this blog as many say ?
If so can you right some of these terrible wrongs that are being inflicted upon the members of the CPD?
At least can you expose them so people get to know whats really going on? Thats a first step to solving a problem , being made aware that one exists!
*** CODE RED ***
Someone needs to tell the people to stay away from the beaches with this heat. Remember last time it hit 80 degrees and we had to turn the fire hoses on everyone.
"You can't handle the truth"
I understand why the city is saying response times are up. Today the 009 District was in a huge back log and 920 said per him unless it is an arrest situation 19-P all jobs. So that means as soon as they come out the jobs are assigned to him and then cleared.
I would hate to live in 009 calls go unheard. Nice!
You may be wrong
Homicide numbers are due to fall thanks to rev. Phleger getting stores to stop putting toy guns in easter baskets!
Rev. Phlegar says KMart is irresponsible for agreeing not to put toy guns in, in the future..
Hey maybe you should look at your constituants instead!
Seems violent crime in your parrish area has nearly tripled since you became reverand there!
STATS!!
We have had toy guns in my parrish area forever, but no spike in violent crime!
Maybe you Rev. and your poor excuses for your parrish only fuel the fire, maybe its time for the community to accept that you are a failure...And like all other parrishes... bring in a FRESH opinion for the community!
Maybe a new Rev. would preach accountability instead of lame excuses!!
Fuck your magic bullet theory ... Look at the fence
There should be a law making it illegal to knowingly lie to the public regarding crime statisticts.
So now next year when its 20 below ... ya know the rest.
920 is an idiot. It's guys like him that allow the city to say response times are decreasing. And when you have a Sgt. that justs 19-P's everything, that's the end result. And what about the taxpayer that needs the police in a non-arrest situatioon? Do they not deserve a Policeman repsonding to their call?
25 members retired on 15Mar12 more on 16Mar12. Just that many less for 007 & 011!!!!!!
Oh, and they are going to hire how many?

Great idea. A good way to get rid of deadwood public safety executives.
Another law would be making it illegal to ignore categorizing hate crimes as hate crimes.
Might as well get rid of a lot of deadwood attorneys as well.
Almost 80 degrees in Ft. Meyers Beach every day how come they don't have as many shootings as we do? Just being silly, sorry

CPD policy is all police 911 calls get assigned to a PO to respond.
The 009 Sgt is 100% wrong.
A CR should be issued, sustained, and Sgt suspended.
The Dispatcher knows this is improper conduct.
The Dispatcher should also be suspended.
We are understaffed. This “clearing the board” does not help us. In fact, it hurts us.
“Clearing the board” makes it look like we have an adequate number of officers.
Why should a Sgt or Dispatcher stick their necks out to help the city?
Everybody knows that if any of those jobs “go bad” the Sgt would be “Cozzied.”
Why should we take risks to help the city?
Let the city change the dispatch policy (acknowledging Chicago does not have enough police officers) or hire more police.
Don't "clear the board."
Pfleger -- who doesn't even belong at St. Sabina's, 22 years overdue for a change of scenery -- got Walgreens to pull the baskets right now, and K-Mart will sell what they have now but discontinue them next year.
...and at least ten shot with real guns last night...
...and maybe even more than that tonight...
Are we on track for another summer like 1995? Or for that matter even hotter? If you think the County morgue was full now wait untill the refer-trucks are brought in again. The wagon guys are going to be making bank taking bodies because the body snatcher service isn't gong to be able to keep up. Can we even get bodies in the back of those "dog catcher" vans? Do we even have body bags left in the district?? This entire year is shaping up to be one of the most interesting for CPD in recent history. Like a wise old timer said to me once, "Day by day kid, day by day." Stay safe brothers.

If we are up to full strength, then its time to to up to 15,000 to 18,000 sworn police officers. Because there is no one to send to all these calls.
over under on 25 people shot and at least 7 dead this weekend!
Any takers?
I work in the "new" 019 on 1st watch (midnights for you yuppies reading). Friday night we were in a rap and each car probably took 15-20 calls. We were one of the districts with a shooting, stabbings and so on. Mixing two districts of overpopulated drunk idiots from Wrigleyville is already a nightmare!
Rahm you have no idea what you created. Stay up past 10pm and listen to a police radio.
I want to say at check off every single officer was pissed off and wanted to thank you for creating one big mess!
We are overworked and underpaid. Our contract is just about up. Why not step to the plate and show a little respect for us.
Everyone across this city working tonight be safe, I am sure we are in for another wild one. If you have to put your hands on someone do! Safety first lets all go home safe, do not worry about these drunk idiots.
Sorry, I got time due tonight. Party, you know. Thanks for handling my assignments.
I guess the citizens accept the mayhem that is happening. or maybe they believe what the pols tell them. but if it was one of their family members, well thats different. the pols either have body guards, or they are packing. there should be a survey.
