Homicide Totals?
According to RedEye.com, there were 22 homicides in March of last year.
According to the same source, we're at 18 homicides for March already and we're only halfway through the month.
Year to date (16 March), 2011 had 65. This year we're already at 86.
Oh, and all that other crime probably isn't down. If you read the articles we've been linking to, you see that CompStat relies almost entirely on manipulating crime stats to show a decrease in certain crimes by deliberate misreporting. Burglaries are theft or criminal damage, domestic related auto theft isn't auto theft at all, aggravated batteries are downgraded to simple batteries.
If homicides and "shootings" are up, chances are everything else is also.

Just remember people numbers only count if you are counting. And as Larry the Cable guy once said; "97% of statistics are made up on the spot."
And guess what no one cares. As long as they can cook the books and say that all other crime stats are down they will use that to divert attention away from the increasing homicide numbers.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get the alderman to get more police out this way?? The ward office is great at not taking my alms seriously. I sincerely hope one of you officers catch these fuckers in the act and fill them full of holes. I promise to hold these fuckers for the first available cop (on or off duty) and I'll help you dispose of the body. Fuck the legal system, it's time we make a statement before this shit gets too outta hand.

The biggest problem is the officers who work in the day time. No proactive work is being done. Thankfully we have some great officers on 3rd and 1st watch.

To the citizen from 008: thanks for your support and understanding. I think it's great when citizens read and take time to understand what the hell is going on in our ranks and how it affects them. Although I don't work in your area, I can empathize and I can tell you burglaries in my shithole are rampant. The problem is lack of police and lack of prosecution/sentencing/sentence completion of sentence. Unless we have serious changes in the above AND allowing police to treat offenders like offenders w/o fear of ridiculous law suits, it will only get much worse. If I were a betting man, I'd say it's going to get much worse before it gets better

Why are you listening to the Commander or XO?. If YOUR investigation determines that it was a burglary,not a theft or a in a robbery investigation a robbery, not a theft and battery, then classify it as such. Make the Commander or XO order you to complete a sup downgrading the crime inspite of what YOUR investigation determines it is. Then, as someone else said, the very first line in your sup should read "This report is being re-classified upon the direct order of Commander So and So or XO So and So.

I agree, but the majority of the fudging occurs after the p.o. has turned in the report. Review, summary, then sgts. if those guys don't downgrade them. They're hiding all of this very well. But they can't hide it from us! The tact team in 008 is looking really hard at the Crazy Roaches from Kennedy HS. The new gang was formed by a CPD Detective's kid that lives in Garfield Ridge. This thug stands out And everyone in the neighborhood knows this puke. He's also become the topic of roll call a lot.
Lock your doors when you leave your house, these guys travel through back yards and happen to check doors while they're in the yard.

If YOUR investigation determines that it was a burglary,not a theft or a in a robbery investigation a robbery, not a theft and battery, then classify it as such. Make the Commander or XO order you to complete a sup downgrading the crime inspite of what YOUR investigation determines it is. Then, as someone else said, the very first line in your sup should read "This report is being re-classified upon the direct order of Commander So and So or XO So and So.

This is all well and good Sarge, but in case you havent been paying attention for the last, oh...decade or so, we have become a department dominated by PUSSIES. RE... I know the burglaries on the west end of 008 are through the roof. A lot of coppers and firemens homes getting hit. Usually during the day when us normal folks are taking the kids to school and off to work. The crew(s) working out this way know that the pickings are easy when there's a ton of empty houses...
The tact team in 008 is looking really hard at the Crazy Roaches from Kennedy HS. The new gang was formed by a CPD Detective's kid that lives in Garfield Ridge. This thug stands out And everyone in the neighborhood knows this puke. He's also become the topic of roll call a lot.
Lock your doors when you leave your house, these guys travel through back yards and happen to check doors while they're in the yard.

Im also a Sgt. I agree with this statement. Unbelieveable what I see out there. I almost pass out dealing with the clueless crop we been turning out over the last few years. Most, not all, never wanted to do this job, nor will they ever try to earn the title of a Police Officer.
Sad..... (Comment about law suits here.... typical response) Use your common sense out there, believe youre always on camera, follow the rules, you'll be covered. All those short cuts and lack of documentation is what gets you into trouble. Anyone can sue, City may pay, but you have to be found not following the rules to be affected.
Dont like the rules of the game? There is a world outside of law enforcement. Get a different job... It's ok. This job isnt for everyone. Practice this phrase,"Your total is $______, please drive up to the next window."
Fine. If the Commander says to change your attempt burglary report to a CTTL, then as I said, document the reason for the change in the first line. "This report being downgraded per the direct order from Commander ......
12:52 was right however. I forgot about the pussification of the Department. Factor in the huge amount of crybabies and 12:52 does have a point. I was thinking more in terms of what I would do had the Commander or XO told me to change a report.
