Poseidon is Angry

  • A Chicago sailor and a friend were plucked from Lake Michigan when their sailboat capsized off Montrose Harbor this afternoon -- almost exactly a year after he was rescued by his wife when a storm flipped the same boat during a birthday celebration.

[...] The boat capsized near Belmont Harbor around 2:30 p.m., and winds carried it north to Montrose Harbor. When a police boat pulled up, Kovats and his friend were struggling to hold on to the side of the boat, officials said. They were not wearing life-jackets.

Rescuers threw a line to the men but they were too exhausted, apparently from hypothermia, a police spokesman said. Two divers then went into the water and pulled the men to safety around 2:50 p.m. Officials estimate the two were in the water for about 15 minutes. They were taken in good condition to Weiss Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital.
Time to start charging this guy for use of police and fire resources every time he goes out and endangers officers' and firefighters' lives needlessly.

Gee Mr. Kovats, 3 strikes and you're dead! If the Almighty had wanted you in the water he would have given you webbed feet and gills.

Might we suggest you take up a different hobby... like laying on the beach? Unlike a boat, you are much less likely to fall off the ground.

GRAVITY: It's the law... OBEY IT ! ! !

I agree, he's not a Chicago resident, he's some suburbanite (like the majority of people with boats docked at Chicago harbors) that thinks he can sail. This goof needs a radio or television to check the weather and water reports. If I remember correctly last year this clown when out with a storm coming.

There is something seriously wrong with that guy! This was the second time he needed to be rescued. His family needs to take on some responsibility here. No more sailing for him!

This guy sounds like someone that would try to climb Denali in January during a blizzard.

Small craft advisory and old fart goes out with out life jackets!
Maybe lightening his wallet will teach the old dog new tricks!

His Wife's wrath is worse than Poseidon. He's in the Dog House. Boat might become a planter.

He's a Chicagoan.

Keep this senile jagoff in his bath tub at home with a little miniature sail boat to play with. If he gets bored he can play with himself. Some innocent responder is going to get hurt or killed trying to save this moron from himself. Enough.

Maybe the former Capt. Jack Manley made some money getting that boat back upright. Marine Towing is still in business isn't it?
