And the Totals Are...

  • In some neighborhoods in Chicago, the hot Memorial Day weekend was also a violent, sometimes deadly, few days.

Almost 40 people were shot, and at least six people were killed.

And that's only through Sunday. Once they stopped counting the weekend, 010 Ogden (Marquette to you old timers) racked up two more. Are they leading the way after all?

  • A woman died after being found shot in the head in a Little Village alley this morning, officials said.

Chicago police have launched a homicide investigation into the shooting after the woman was found at 5:30 a.m. on the 3000 block of South Kostner Avenue....
  • A man was shot to death in the Lawndale neighborhood this evening, just a few minutes after another man was shot and wounded in the West Rogers Park neighborhood, authorities said.

A man was shot in the chest in the 1500 block of South Spaulding Avenue about 5:36 p.m. and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later declared dead....

And in case you were wondering, while NATO was ongoing, this happened last weekend:

  • Chicago was focused this weekend on the NATO Summit and the heated clashes between protesters and police in the downtown area, but across the city, seven people were killed and at least 22 more were injured by gunfire.
Remember, those are just the weekend totals. No emphasis on the mayhem that occurs regularly during the week. We must be averaging a killing-plus per day and summer hasn't even officially arrived.

By my count I only have 5 days in May that did not record a homicide and 13 days that have recorded 2 or more homicides.

Also, I have not been able to look up anything the past 3 days. No arrest by address/residence, no new investigative alerts or warrants, no incident searches and no web mapping available.

Maybe the news outlets will get into how the powers that be order the numbers be cooked to make it appear that we have no crime. And more than enough police. I really don't care if we get near Rio De Janiro numbers. The fact remains that we are ridiculously, dangerously undermanned and the mayor doesn't give a flying fuck about us! Wanna help the pension? HIRE MORE POLICE. You could brainwash the new recruits into being a money generating bunch of ticket writers...at least until they figure out that the mayor is full of shit.

Is that in Syria, some mid African civil war fighting country, or Chicago, Illinois?

You just can't tell any more. No more police needed however, we have plenty. And never mind that man behind the curtain trying to steal our pensions, work hard and do your job and be grateful for whatever crumbs ballerina leaves for us.

We should simply waive any provision of our contract that the city finds too difficult to comply with. Anything we can do to help Rahm, we're with you brother, we surely are.

What will this be the thirtieth or fortieth "plan?"

Chicago's not ready for change, of any kind.

10 slain, dozens injured in weekend shootings
Killings are double the figure for Memorial Day 2011

According to the summaries, there have been at least 200 homicides so far this year compared with 134 during the same period in 2011. That's a 49.25 percent increase over last year.

Where are the true numbers you ask?

They'll be brought to you and the Sheeple in short order, as Governor Quinn and HS Madigan have brainstormed over the weekend to come up with what they say is a great Bill to "save" our pensions.

You will be told the "true" numbers in order to distract you from the sting of the buttfucking we're all about to get. Just some of the main points, as heard on WBBM: retirement age stays 65, but dramatic cuts to the COLA for present employees and retirees alike. Also, those who don't place nice and 'opt out' of going along with the program can expect to be removed from their insurance/health care plan.

Smoke & Mirrors, Sleight of Hand and pay no mind to the man behind the curtain, folks. You WILL be told what's best for you and you WILL keep your mouth shut and not question the almighty Machine..

I responded to a shooting in 003, a couple of blocks away a University of Chicago student flagged me down. She was crying and in a panic. She said to me "all I hear is gun fire around here, is this a safe neighborhood to be walking around in"? So, of course I told here the truth, there have been multiple people shot , murders, and dozens of shots fired no miss it's not at all safe. While we stood there talking we heard a barrage of loud reports within close proximity and the women screamed and cried louder she uttered " oh my god Im so scared, what should I do" I got her to a safe place, but I will never forget the image of this young lady who will probably never leave the house again. She was so scared that she literally pissed her self. I forsee a transfer to another school.

SCC - if possible, can you give us an update on Lt. & Sgt. lists? You hear anything about size & when classes will start?
----------------------------------Lt.' July 01

Sgt' mid October. Maybe !!!

Just was with a few big wigs from the hall. This is bonified info.

5/27/2012 09:35:00 PM

The dates and the list changes every day. Hang in there and check back here every day. After all, the reverends must have the final say. The start date has changed several times last week.

Last year the Sgt.'s budgeted strength was 1,365.
As of today we have 1050. That means that they are short 300+ Sgt.'s. not to mention the ones retiring this year because of age, those jumping on the 55yo and out health option before the city pulls it off the table this year, and to those who are going to be promoted to Lt.
They will be short close to 400 Sgt.'s by the end of the year. The class should be a minimum of 100 but then factor in this years budget and that changes everything again.. Less money alloted for supervisors and even new hires. Go figure!

all these totals have to count for something. this needs to be used during our contract negotiations. either hire more officers or expect the same shooting totals to continue or increase. all these so-called new tactics are not doing anything different. this smoke and mirrors game still has the same outcome throughout the city. some districts are improving on their stats, but the other districts are picking up the slack for sure.

The man on the radio this morning says that on average it costs $1 million dollars for each person shot in the city. That price includes the ambulance, ER, doctor and hospital, the police, the detectives, the court cost, the prosecutors office, the lawyers, etc.

Chicago has had 851 shooting since the Jan 1, 2012 do the math!

Who are the taxpayers funding? The lawyers!

Law firms making out big time!. When their business starts to decline not to worry the Illinois legislators, or city mayor or city aldermen will create another new law that challenges the US constitution and send more taxpayer money there way.

If the lawyers need more money let in some more illegal immigrants.

Meanwhile the shortage of cops on the beat appears to be more and more bullshit as we see about 20 bike cops trailing 20 protestors downtown as the shootings on the south and west side continue.

CPD has officers plenty of officers if they can waste that amount of man power on this bullshit.

What kind of message is being sent by these actions?

Well some may conclude that the political leaders want the illegal immigrant drug trade to flourish in the city in spite of all the shootings and homicides because the illegal immigrant drug trade draws money in from the rich suburban communities.

That drug money gets spent in Chicago and Chicago collects the sales taxes for example.

842 shooting cases is a bonanza for the lawyers and prosecutors office and they can demand more money and larger budgets for the caseloads thereby building an empire to raise the clouted ones social economic status.

If the mayor stop the drug trade dead in it's tracks tomorrow one wonders what the financial impact would be on Chicago's tax revenue stream?!

So there's not much to be surprised about when we see 43 shootings over the weekend with barely any response when you compare the response given to some small group of political protestors. Who we kidding here?

While some of the blue shirt rank and file may care it doesn't matter. The political apparatus WANTS the shootings to continue. It puts money and power in their pockets.

Follow the money trail. Shootings are a big business, a crisis that you can cash in on if you don't let it go to waste.

OT: Taxpayers paying for lost revenue during NATO to the parking meter company.

When they tell you that the taxpayers are not paying for the NATO party that means the TAXPAYERS ARE PAYING FOR THE NATO PARTY.

Don't kid yourself!

Thank's CPD for your donation.

Allowing our leaders to bypass funding our pensions to pay for NATO.

Follow the money trail.

You skip the pension contribution so you can award hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars in corporate tax breaks to the corporations.

Then the corporations in turn return $36 MILLION of their tax breaks as a donation for NATO. Out of the $100's of MILLIONS mind you.

Where'd the money come from for NATO?

The Taxpayers. Our public pensions.

Oh the Federal government kicked in $16 MILLION too!

Where does the federal government get it's money for the $16 million dollar NATO grant?

THE TAXPAYERS!!

Yet these people have to gall to stand up on a podium and put out propaganda that the taxpayers are not paying for NATO.

We're all suppose to lose track of this money laundering racket as though the corporate tax break money and the skipping the pension funding money is not fungible.

The department has not wanted to hire people like you in about 30 years I retired 2 yrs ago with 25. If there were more police like you, the city would be paying more bogus law suits, because they won't fight anything, which saves money HA HA. Instead we just pay everyone off. For years the powers that be, want the kinder, gentler police. This is why this city and country is in the mess it's in. Good luck to you and thanks for serving our country!
