CTA Stabbing

Like we said before, posting is going to be a bit disjointed. Some stories are missed and we're working back toward them...like this one:
  • Four members of the volunteer security patrol known as the Guardian Angels were stabbed while trying to nab a man who pistol-whipped a rider on a Red Line train on the Near North Side, police say.

The four suffered minor cuts during the confrontation around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Clark and Division stop, police said, citing preliminary information.

The Guardian Angels were on the platform, waiting to get on a train, when they spotted a man hitting a passenger and taking his iPhone 4S, police said. They intervened and a second man pulled a knife and cut three of the Guardian Angels on their arms and the fourth on the head, authorities said.

Nothing says "lack of manpower" more than the Guardian Angels having to exist. But here's a thought - wouldn't the Guardian Angels be more effective if they were Concealed Carry Guardian Angels? Going up against one guy who's pistol whipping the victim then getting stabbed by the second? In fact, if concealed carry existed for the victim or any other onlooker, there wouldn't be any reason for the Guardian Angels to even exist as every citizen would be responsible for their own safety.

Kind of like the Founding Fathers intended.

Too bad that the Fortress of Bullshit didn't have that officer that is assigned to the merchandise mart assigned to where the crime is instead.

Wasted manpower patrolling private property. Yeah he's following orders alright so you can't blame him.

And where'z all those transit cops at eh?

This cities priorities are f--ked up. Worried more about some piece of corporate property then the personal safety of a human being.

Concealed carry for law-abiding citizens? UUW is the original Thug Protection Act. Rapists, muggers and killers need the protection the legislature provided!

My Grandfather used to tell a story about Benito Mussolini. Back in the 20's Italy had a huge problem with pickpockets. Mussolini ordered his police to cut off a hand of anyone found with a wallet that wasn't theirs.

After a few weeks, even if you saw a wallet lying in the street,no one would pick it up.

Any arrests in this situation? Or are the cameras expected to 'identify' the offenders in a few weeks (or months), and that'll make everything all right?

How did ever get away from the founding fathers and concealed carry?

I agree, that every person should be able to defend themselves!

Police can't be everywhere.

Maybe the only people getting killed would be the POS's!

I am sure the CTA rider being pistol whipped by the animal was an "isolated incident". Right. Instead of allowing hand guns for the Guardian Angels how about flame throwers to vaporize these fucking mutants. Then all the CTA janitor must do is come along and sweep up the ashes. Simple and neat.

And thanks to his idiocy, these four were stabbed.

This is yet another reason why having NATO here is a bad idea. they should have had it someplace like Texas - where everyone is armed and there is less chance of widespread disorder.

I don't know how you guys feel about this, but it's going to be extremely tempting to have a firearm at hand when out and about this weekend. You just don't know what can happen, and my life and the lives of my family members are just not worth the bullshit this city dictates.

I have mixed feelings about the Angels, but no doubt their hearts are in the right place! When I read this story of how all the people on the train platform took off screaming and running when pookie pulled out a gun, the very first thing I thought of was how different this scenario plays out if this shithole State allowed Concealed Carry!

Possibly concealed carry would have passed if F.O.P. had supported it, look in the mirror and ask you why F.O.P. didn't endorse it, many of you failed to speak out to the leadership

The guardian angels choose to carry no weapons at all. Even in places where concealed carry is allowed, they are still unarmed, but because they choose to be, not because they have to be.

"Anyone having information regarding this incident are advised to call Central Detective Area "

Does the media realize that there are MORE Guardian Angels than Detectives?
The Angels have a better chance of locating & apprehending these mutts.

"Nobody in custody, detectives are investigating",
Thanks News Affairs, that's comforting.

I thought that the Angels were trained in Martial Arts and could actually protect people?

Are they out there just to collect tips and donations for their Beret's, t-shirts and bus fare?

49 of the 50 states have concealed carry laws and unless I am mistaken there has not been an increase in armed violence in any - to the contrary many have seen a decline. If things continue to "head south" as they have in this country, I have my FOID and may just circumvent concealed carry in order to provide for personal protection.

Agreed! Not having concealed carry equates to thugs carrying weapons and law-abibiding citizens having no way to protect themselves. If law-abiding citizens COULD concealed carry, then the thugs might think twice!

Just to think that CTA is trying to get rid of Special Employment just to save a few bucks when Officers are already working for straight time with no extra benefits, on their days off!

Seems to me that CTA was getting the better deal in having Officers work their day off for straight time and no benefits!

Who is more stupid, #1 or #2?

1. CTA Board

2.Officers working for straight time with no benefits paid!

Tick Tock said the Wheel of Fortune clock?

The ghetto mutts are everywhere, there is a pool of victims from everywhere, polluting the air we breath with moronic protests how about showing them the "Chicago way?" The Angels are a good group, and I for 1 and many other coppers support their actions, time for concealed carry in this ghetto infested city!

Go to the Snuggery this weekend, instead of visiting the Bean. You'll be perfectly safe.

I left the crappy city of chicago 16 years ago. I lived in east rogers park and took the train at loyola often. I always had my Ruger Speed Six in a good holster.I'm positve I wouldn't be here today if I had not used it on three attempted muggings, I never had to shoot I just pulled it out and they booked. Twice on the street and one time walking down the stairs in the station late at night. To be honest I had more fear of the police catching me than of the thugs. I now live in Montana a right to carry state, I don't, no need. Cheers to all.

Y'all can move to Oklahoma where we have Concealed Weapon Licenses for handguns and, effective 11/01/2012, open carry for CWL holders.
