Sun Times Trolling for Story

We, along with other bloggers, have gotten e-mails relating that the Sun Times is going to injured firefighters' and police officers' houses and attempting to interview them about their duty status. No idea what they're looking for and no idea if they've been filming people prior to the interviews.

Along with the pension attacks and upcoming contract negotiations, we can only imagine what's cooking.

My BIG question is.... How in the world did they find out they were on the medical and how did they get their address?

Trolling for a story? In other words, Rahm has put the media on notice that he wants to see CFD and CPD roundly discredited as we go into contract negotiations.

One: don't 'chat' with the media.
Two: don't give anyone the means to discredit us.

It is quite an advantage to control the press.
Imagine if the police could kill, spin or insert stories like the big boys.
The cover of Time could depict an aged policeman pulling his empty pockets inside out. Radio, tv and newspapers could be full of stories about hero cops getting screwed by theiving polititions after serving the public selflessly for decades.
All we have is the internet, for now.

All Rahm's grandstanding down in Springfield is smoke and mirrors. We know the City isn't broke, we know Rahm is a two faced liar (see "1000 officers put on the street, the City is broke yada yada yada), Rham is simply setting us up for his future moves like pawns in a chess game. The Senate, Reps, and City can complain about our pensions all they want....they are guaranteed by the State of IL Constitution. They need to get the people of IL to vote to allow them, the politicians, to amend the constitution. This took place in the last election and they, the politicians, lost. If I'm not mistaken the vote to amend the constitution only occurs once every 10 years. What Rahm is setting us up for is to stick it to us every other way in the upcoming contract talks and to use us as a scapegoat for the property tax increase he promised he would not do. If people on this site would REGISTER TO VOTE in an actual election, not DWTS, and get involved in politics there wouldn't be so much Bullshit out there. People care more about seeing fucking super bowl commercials than actually finding out what their politicians stand for.

Sounds like the news Zombies have been following cops and firemen around to see what kind of physical activity they are capable of. You would think these fucking jagoffs would have something better to do but I am sure they are getting inside info from the Racoon's servants at the Hall. Nice to know our "leaders" are trying to set us up for the coming contract and pension reform. I wouldn't lift a finger to help this city this weekend. Let the misfit bastards tear it down.

1.Look outside before you open the door.
2. Don't answer the door if you don't want to.
3. From behind a closed door tell them to leave.
4. Videotape them from inside of the house or a short distance away on the block.
5. By this time 911 should've been contacted along with your neighbors.
6. With your own camera on sign complaints for any crime done against you, your family and property.
7. Be sure to state "i told you to get off my property" and keep repeating it. Do not yell, scream, frown, swear etc...
8. Go to court.
9. No matter what the outcome of the trial may be, contact a cheap young ambitious lawyer.
10. Hope you make money out of it and help bring an end to liberal non-sense.

Fuck 'em...

It's tempting to let your dogs loose on these cowards, isn't it?

They have no fucking business ringing your bell to ask you about your medical situation.

Or if you really want to have fun, let the officers who have been contacted get together with some swift lawyers and put the fear of God in these cretins.

isn't this a big time HIPAA violation regardless of the fact that they're city employees.

The headline would have been "Greedy Cops On Disability Caught Living Almost Normal Lives!"

By all that's holy, we wish we could work, live and retire pain free and happy like these miserable, decaying alive fucks who work for that vile rag.

We wish a Policeman's lingering pain, sorrow and life-long nightmares on every last one of these whores who had the luxury of never having to fight for their lives or for anything.

Have a seat bitches! We'll tell you about the never going away arm tingle from the broken hand, the shoulder yanked out of the socket during a project brawl and tumble down concrete stairs, the back wrenched in a crash, etc...

Anybody got anything jazzy to say about the horrid working conditions and Policemen dying from working in notorious cancer traps like 012, the old 006, 013, 011 etc?

What about the site of the new 012 that was found to have a serious asbestos contamination problem?

You lazy media whore wanna investigate that shit?

Fuck no because the city is liable!

Bunch of fucking cowards!

Not only is The Policeman the enemy but he's expendable and has no rights anyone is duty bound to respect.

Flaming Tutu put his media bitches up to this shit.

It isn't the first or last time the mayor's office uses the deep resources of local media to do it's bidding.

Wondering what these NATO people are going to go back home to?

The markets are in decline. Greece is busted their people are in the streets. The Euro is in trouble. Spain's people are in the streets. Italy, Germany, France, Yemen, Russia, the list of protests goes on. Meanwhile the NATO big whigs are all partying and wondering what to wear to the NATO ball.

I think that there is a sense that after this NATO summit everything is over. What if it's only the beginning?

Sacramento Firefighters March To Protest Cuts

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Frustrated Sacramento firefighters marched to City Hall on Tuesday to protest proposed layoffs. But they’re not just challenging the cuts, they’re also offering a solution.

The Sacramento Area Firefighters union prepared a plan to raise revenue instead of making cuts.

Rallying the troops, union president Brian Rice led nearly 150 Sacramento firefighters to City Hall.

“We cannot fracture. We cannot sell out our own,” he told the members. “We’re going to work this problem out. The fire department will work it out for firefighters.”

There are 64 positions are on the chopping block, representing nearly 10 percent of the department. It totals $4.2 million of cuts and the result would be major – reducing four-man rescue crews to three.

“Why is it essential for the Giants to have nine players instead of six?” firefighter and union spokesman Todd Filbrun asked. “Will they still catch some ground balls? Will they still catch some fly balls? Sure. But are they going to win ball games? No.”

Contract year and I'm sure city hall made some phone calls to "investigative sources". You know they want to severely cut medical Time so what better way to get support than by putting "injured" firemen and police on tv doing work around the house or heading to side jobs when they're supposed to be medical. We always have the dogs that will be here to fuck it up, but the media makes it look like its the majority or an epidemic. It's the Chicago way

If I'm not mistaken the vote to amend the constitution only occurs once every 10 years
******************

It's every 20 years. The legislature is prevented from attempting to change the state constitution until the year 2028.

That means no matter what fuckery Emanuel tries, neither he nor Quinn nor any legislator has the authority to alter the pension article until AT LEAST the year 2028 and only then at the next upcoming election.

By the time 2028 comes around this state will either be in ruins thanks to these scumfucking politicians or it will be the exact same as it always has for decades......

Just a small fact: When the pension article was added to the constitution, it was constructed at the behest of public sector employees exactly like us. It was added because back in the 70's public sector employees, much as they are now, were fearful the legislature would soon attempt to destroy their pensions at a whim because they found other political uses for their money.

It was solidified to protect public sector employees from being raped by political shitheads for votes.

And the last interesting fact? At that time in the 70's the pension funds were funded at the exact same levels as they are today.... less the 50% for the CPD.

So don't be so woeful kids..... our pension system has existed and has continued to function for almost the last 35 years being underfunded and for long periods of time funded at the exact same level it is today.

Chill out, your pension fund is operating at the same levels it always does....don't let this shitstick or even your own pension officials sell you a line of fucking bullshit that you have to agree to changing ANYTHING in your pension because:

1. It's guaranteed regardless of legislative attempts to steal it away from you.

2. It is now no more underfunded than it has been in the past, and it's gone on working just fine for almost 35 years being underfunded.

Don't let this shitstick or any pension officer tell you otherwise.... as noted in the last pension newsletter....looking to start the panic so they can work out a deal for themselves.

You are protected.... the law courts will be used if necessary to invalidate any laws written to violate the constitution.

Don't sell yourselves out because you believe the bullshit being fed to you.

City is under HIPAA

What is a covered entity?

The privacy rule applies to health plans, health care clearinghouses, and health care providers. It applies to employers only to the extent that they somehow operate in one or more of those capacities. The same standards apply to covered entities in both the public and private sectors.

How might an employer be a covered entity?

Normally, an employer will only deal with covered entities, not actually be one. However, if an employer has any kind of health clinic operations available to employees, or provides a self-insured health plan for employees, or acts as the intermediary between its employees and health care providers, it will find itself handling the kind of PHI that is protected by the HIPAA privacy rule.

It's easy. Think about it. It involves surveillance of easily identifiable people known to frequent a specific location. It's not rocket science.

Plus, the jealousy of coworkers helps them. Some of your brothers and sisters are not nice people.

I had an extensive back surgery due to an IOD in Feb. Coventry has denied the claims for the Doctor ordered wheel chair, walker and high lift toilet seat. Coventry says these were "luxury items". I guess not sitting in my own feces on the couch for 6 straight weeks is considered a luxury in Rahmland.

Tried calling the Med section to ask how to contest the bills. Forget that, no one answers their phones or returns phone calls. I have no doubt they are swamped due to the emptying of the building, but I'm going to be out over $1,000 for these "luxury items". I haven't even kept track of my prescription costs, but they are easily in the $100's and I'm paying that out of pocket.

Your BIG answer is they use the freedom of information. My guess is that you work for a government agency and your disability is paid for by that agency or pension fund, therefore subjecting it to the freedom of information, just like the Better Government Association publishes every po's salary on line.

If they are medical abusers, it is a legit story.

Various media organizations have done this kind of thing with other government employees before.

They have even done it with WC abusers in the private sector.

Remember the state of Illinois employees that worked for the board that approves disability requests for state employees and how they had such an unusually high rate of disability?

Or the Cook County employees on disability that were playing tennis?

Or the city employees on disability who were ghost employees of the county while on city disability?

Nothing really new here. I can recall periodic stories of this type going back into the mid 70s.

Really? I've been on disability for quite some time. I go to the gym regularly as I have been instructed to do by numerous physicians. I don't look disabled but the pension board Drs. say I am. Should I stay at home now because of this? No, I'll just go on with my normal routine. I'm not going to hide. I have no doubt that more than once some copper has reported me. I think this is more of a reflection of what they are than what I am. There's more to being a PO than just lifting heavy weights. If I were on disability for a bad back (I'm not) and my kid got injured, I'd pick his hefty butt up and carry him to the car. This would make a great shot for the news but, what does it prove?
