NATO Order Out....

....on Tuesday morning.

Have those babysitters on speed dial and the dog walking service on standby. On second thought, bring the dog to work - maybe you can pretend to be 10-4.

NATO Order Out....
....on Tuesday morning.

Demonstrators out on Monday morning!

WBBM radio reporting that about 50 "Catholic Workers Party" showed up at 2 Prudential Plaza to demonstrate -- said that Obama administrative offices are in that building (so is WBBM.)

About 50 police there.

Not "peaceful," as WBBM reported.

Protesters rush into building housing Obama campaign headquarters

"Several protest leaders were led away in handcuffs after dozens of demonstrators dashed into the Loop building housing President Barack Obama's campaign headquarters this morning, slipping past security guards and running up escalators."

Expect long hours on your feet, eating melted chocolate bars and drinking warm bottled water. Save the bottle to pee in later. And you'll either be too hot, too cold, wet and/or all of the above.

But in the end we'll get another useless ribbon. Just give me the $1.50 instead.

Am putting serious blame on the First Deputy... a matrix of work hours could have been sent out to COs, since damn near EVERY dept member will be affected (call back might be an exception)...some folks (in units) know what they will be working---yet our LT keeps telling the troops they may be assigned to any watch.....please also tell Al W that sending out missives in the "docx" format is silly- in our district they can only be opened by WC (oops SS) or front office

I have been on 16 years, come from a police family. Worked the busy districts, a specialized unit and was promoted to Detective over 6 years ago,off the list if that matters. Although this department is not my entire life, it is a big part of it. I have never been so disgusted with the lack of leadership on this department.I do not have to name any names. The police who are working know who they are. Please, back eachother up, stay together, all these hacks will be gone soon. We will have to start over, no doubt..but we have weathered the storm before, Be safe, back eachother up.

SCC, just so you know according to the NATO protest/occupy chicago website the official protesting started about one hour ago. The first official protest will be a small one infront of obama headquarters tomorrow at 8am downtown on randolph street.... There is absolutly no order out... also, to the police officers out there in 009.. Im sure nobody has told you yet but there is going to be an anti cpd/anti jon burge march from 51 and halsted down to the 9th district station tuesday May 15th from 6pm till midnight. If you dont believe me then here is the link to the complete link of protests that are planned and the specific times. Since downtown isnt giving anyone a heads up I will.... here is the link to the events page:

************************

funny, because today in 001 on days we had to respond to 130 randolph which is obama campaign hq. there were about 100 protesters. Nobody in 001 knew that this protest was going to happen and were caught off guard when the call came out. there were only about 80 protesters but they were able to cause havoc and shut the building down because they stormed the lobby. 8 got locked up and the protest only lasted about 2 hours but for us it took about 45 min to get organized and get a plan together. Its a joke. there are gonna be about 30 thousand here starting on friday... its gonna be a mess.

I have seen our future. Gang and tact units must start saving their money because they will end up paying at least 100 times what NY cops will end up paying in pending stop and frisk lawsuits. It is one of the pitfalls of drawing a Cook Co jury to hear your future civil suit.

I see the future and in it many Chicago cops are poor. Some even poorer than the people they police.

So far this year, Chicago cops have written at least 100,000 more contact cards than they did last year.

I don't believe Wrightwood runs at Francisco, it is Logan Blvd. Lots of large old houses, many rehabbed, I would have no problem going there. Not as upscale as Lakeview or Lincoln Park, might still be a building go shit here and there. I wouldn't worry.

Maybe they are trying to shorten the time in advance the order will be posted on SCC. They might as well start posting on SCC, put SCC on their distribution list. Everything that gets put out gets on SCC anyway, they might as well send out original, error free documents.

And yes, in 27 years I have not seen it this screwed up.

Extremely not recommended, kids.

That web site is advocating an action to which police can legally respond using deadly force.

Reality check -- this is not a "role-playing game."

Andy Thayer is a sick person. He would LIKE someone to get killed -- other than himself, of course.

He is just trying to drum up lawsuit business for Loevy and Loevy, the law firm he works for.

Don't be a fool. Don't be used.

Why does the City think that because they are canceling my day off that the contract does not apply to me???

As the order reads now the are asking for volunteers and then by reverse seniority. If you are one of the many getting forced to work overtime, illegal by both federal and state law. They think they have the right to send me down there while someone with 10 less years on the job gets to work in the assigned unit?

Now I have read the contract and came not find this exception anyplace. The City believes that because I have to work my RDO that the contract and the seniority rules do not apply!

The most you can force the city to pay is time and a half for cancelled days off. They will pay that. The exception would be cancellation of a day off that falls on a holiday.

Rahm and McBooze don't pay the slightest attention to the contract. While the FOP leadership is calling MLAS and telling them of this or that violation the City is doing what it wants. This pattern of contract violations and totally ignoring the contract need to be part of one huge lawsuit.

OT: Heard that Mc Stupid was in 003 at the scene of a homicide last week. One of the beat officers walked over to him and asked if there was anything he needed from them or anything he wanted them to do and this piece of shit replied... "I will ask the damn questions". This guy is suppose to be our leader? What an ASSHOLE!!!!

They will and can send a more senior officer and he will get the time and a half that all the officers are getting

Here's an idea every . . . wow, I feel the flu coming on this weekend. How about anyone else?

We all know that I better get healthy because could you imagine if one or all were to suddenly get sick the weekend of the summit? Rahm would have to figure out what to do with all those protesters.

Imagine the embarrassment it would bring to him, his office, and his bs legacy he's trying to create. So much for your White House aspirations. I mean, it's not like the city needs us over paid, do nothing doughnut eating flat foots. :)

Illinois Union leaders are calling for the passage of the Gaming Bill. This would bring a casino to Chicago and slots to the racetracks creating thousands of jobs and multi- millions in revenue. But Quinn wants to ram his cuts down everyone's throats. Say NO!

5/14/2012 07:22:00 PM

Ain't nothing going to happen on any casino bill until AFTER all the cuts to jobs/pensions/wages are made and new union contracts signed. That way there will that much more money to hand out to clouted friends and relatives of the political apparatus. Have we not learned anything here?

PENSION REFORM

Gov. Pat Quinn is enlisting the support of Chicago’s business community to sell his Medicaid and pension reform plans to state lawmakers before the Legislature adjourns at the end of this month.

more:

http://capitolfax.com/2012/05/14/todays-quote-3/

Well the business community had better listen up then if they want to keep getting those tax breaks -- isn't that how it works?

If the governor goes really "HAM" as they say while everyone is looking over here at NATO they don't have any time to be looking over there to mount any opposition to his pension/medicare reform plan.

Could the timing be any better?

Right after NATO we'll get the word in some last minute 3am in the morning vote I suspect while the state is fast asleep.

I'll pick the 27th as the date. A Sunday

File a grievance and request a time machine for relief?

How do you get back three days or maybe forever?

However you can't. be in two places at the same time.

Take three and they will try to take MONEY FOR three or more but NEVER TIME only the dead lose TIME!

Do request cost to settlement on the grievance and demand it on the civil suit!

Stand together and we can take feet of shit minimum. Then there's always life jackets and surfboards?

Time is not money and money is just a way to keep score!

So, apparently the XO of 011 sent a nasty-gram to all of the Sgts on 3rd watch (maybe other watches too), wanting to know why everyone's activity has dropped. Are you fucking kidding me? For a "leader" to be so incredibly out of touch with the people he leads is absurd, and in our line of work, dangerous. Let's see RB...Time due is being denied left and right, we don't have enough working radios, our pdts haven't worked in 2 weeks, it's FOUR DAYS before NATO and we haven't been told shit about what hours we are working, no promotional exams offered in more than 5 years, no new police being hired etc, etc. I see all those years working at 35th street have really kept you in touch with the needs/concerns of the working police. Let me go get you an event number though.

5/14/2012 10:50:00 AM
---------------------------------------

ALMOST every member of this department is being affected. The one unit that sticks out like a sore thumb and is NOT being affected is the investigative unit. There are hundreds of dics and investigators that aren't being utilized.

The "disarm a police officer" workshop obviously did not mean to teach anything about physically disarming a police officer if you read the description, since the tools they say they will be using are "their brains, their voices, and the justice of their cause"*... Another definition of disarm is to deprive of reason or disposition to be hostile. Though they could certainly have called that workshop something else to avoid being unclear and giving the wrong impression.

*Unless, of course, they are trained as Bene Gesserit and aim to control people with The Voice.

5/14/2012 10:56:00 AM

i couldn't have said it better myself. we all do need to still back each other up. take care of each other out there and don't worry about what some of these ignorant supervisors are saying. we know what's in our best interest while we're out there. we can't stress this enough, be safe and this will all be over soon enough. these dumb ideas of nato and meritorious-promoted bosses will all be over soon enough.

That may be true but we don't know how long these retired officers have been retired. Their pension could be a lot less and that amount could still be a big burden to them.
