More Construction
No doubt this will prop up our pensions, right? The pensions guaranteed by Illinois law?
- A new $200 million cargo facility on former military land at O'Hare International Airport is expected to open next year.
Aeroterm, which was chosen as developer for the project in 2009 under then-Mayor Richard Daley, plans an 820,000-square-foot facility with an aircraft ramp that can accommodate planes including Boeing's 747-800 series.
The company will cover $130 million of the $200 million cost, with $62 million coming from airport funds. Daley acquired the onetime military land in 1996. The cargo facility will take up 65 acres.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the construction project Monday.
Once again, Rahm has money for everything except the things he's obligated by law to pay.

Over the past 20 years the city has spent billions on projects while ignoring its pension obligations.
The pension underfunding in chicago, cook, illinois is CRIMINAL NEGLEGENCE.
The government is breaking its contractual agreements with its workers. The money due is/has been spent on projects that enriched connected firms and crooked polititions.
Many of theise same CROOKED POLITITIONS are now calling for pension reform.
Do we have a list of all the connected contractors and lawyers making money on this deal? The Racoon keeps crying the city has no money and he just keeps on spending.
Yeah how about it.
"The Emanuel administration said the project will create 1,200 construction jobs and another 1,200 jobs at the cargo facility. The administration estimates another 10,000 jobs will be created in the region's economy as a result of the facility."
I'm surprised that they did not say that the jobs were "much needed" and that they were "for the children".
Here's the thing though. Where are these numbers coming from out of someones azz? So someday decades into the future (guess they re-purposed the crystal ball unit) there's supposed to be 11,000 jobs created from this project...
To which I say big deal!
The jobs are needed NOW!.
Guess what?
Just this last weekend they kicked 200,000 people off of extended unemployment benefits. 26,100 of them right here in the great state of Illinois. If they created those 11,000 jobs today we're still 15,100 in the hole.

So get ready for a flood of new homeless people joining the occupy crowd!
By the end of the year we should see mass layoffs with the USPS too. American airlines is in bankruptcy cutting tens of thousands of jobs right now.
In spite of all the political propaganda telling us that Illinois has been showing seven consecutive months of job growth now, not a single person has dropped off the Food Stamp caseload when you compare the latest numbers over at frac.org to seven months ago. We're running at 1.8 million people on the food stamp program in Illinois.

Which reminds me of the other krap being handed out on the economy, and that is all you have to do is get a degree and more education. HA..
"An Exploding Number Of PhD Recipients Are Using Food Stamps"
......
The number of PhD recipients on food stamps and other forms of welfare more than tripled between 2007 and 2010 to 33,655, according to an Urban Institute analysis cited by the Chronicle of Higher Education. The number of master's degree holders on food stamps and other forms of welfare nearly tripled during that same time period to 293,029, according to the same analysis.
....
There are 5,057 janitors with PhDs, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data cited by the Houston Chronicle.

Yeah janitors. That tells you WHAT KIND OF JOBS there people are talking about creating. No one asks what kind of jobs, what they pay, or are they careers?
Yeah jobs my azz.
In April we created twice as many people on disability claims than we created jobs. Disability claims are up over 53% vs a decade ago. Gah, do you think that when unemployment runs out and there still are no jobs that people will try to get on disability?

The shit is really just starting to hit the fan who are they kidding. This place is going to look like what you see going on in Greece with the road that we're on.
But the police, fire and teachers are causing the city to be broke??? The retirees can't have a cost of living increase and we can't have a raise because he has no money....my pension contribution comes out of my check every 2 weeks...and we still have 3 years of his BS.....ugh
Can someone tell me why Madigan and his boys in Springfield are lining up to do this asshole's dirty work...when they pass his pension reform then he'll say it wasn't him ...it's a state law....
Pension????
Rahm is no better than Daly he believes that we should feel lucky we have a job and should take the crums he feeds us and shut up.
Lets not forget, we paid 330 million for that land ( 330 acres )
much of which is toxic.
Also, they are trying to have 050 move to a building ( 850 ) which has toxic problems of its own.
Most of the touted jobs are already there, this facility will mostly consolidate what is around the airport now.
And yes, there will be lots of clout heavy construction companies buying Andelino and Rham dinner and more free trips.
I work at the airport.
Most of this will just bring jobs onto the airport from the burbs that surround the airport. They were forced there due to mis-managment of the airport itself by Daley&co,
Under the current Daley hold over admiistration, there was a glitch in planning and they forgot that the only part of the airport that is really growing is the cargo area. This just makes up for some of the mistakes they made.
They have cost the city and taxpayers millions by the use of poor judgement, and yet they are still there! Way to go Rham, screw the people even more.
emanuel, daley, and others of their ilk will continue to "take care" of those possible large, future campaign contributiors !!!
Fuck the working class, take care of "the monied friends !!
"Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the construction project Monday."
It is literally EVERY SINGLE DAY with this stuff now.
JPDaleyVanecko x 10.
The courts will have the final say on any changes the Racoon wants to make to our pensions. The Illinois Constitution mandates our rights. Lets see where these assholes go with their "reforms".
As soon as Rahm steals our pensions, the city will privatize Midway, and Quinn will approve a Chicago casino. Rahm is not interested in funding the pensions, only in stealing them.
Do we have our Union Lawyers researching this pension reform bullshit.....F.O.P. dont wait untill they take monies away from us because of their underfunding the pensions for years. Havent laws been broken ? Shouldnt F.O.P. be meeting with other Union Presidents and forming a legal plan to stop this. Isnt this what we pay our UNION DUES EACH PAY CHECK FOR? or is it only for the picnic and golf outing ? Start calling and emailing F.O.P. to get the lawyers going or hire Ill constitutional lawyers to stop this madness........
Man, are we in serious trouble!
