"...the trend is actually turning"

The June totals continue to rise, surpassing last year's totals. Almost 20 more shot:
  • A teenage boy was killed in the South Side Hamilton Park neighborhood and at least 17 others were wounded in shootings throughout the city between Friday and Saturday nights.

Garry continues to spin so fast he looks like an Iranian centrifuge:

  • “We have a lot of violence in the city of Chicago,” Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said Saturday afternoon at a South Side church where he announced three big drug busts. “The trend is actually turning. You would never know it, but the trend is actually turning.”

Yeah, sure Garry. It's turning so fast that we've actually gone past 180 degrees and we're coming full circle. Do you even bother to read the year-to-year stats instead of the "we had 50% less shootings during the noon to 3PM stretch of 22 June 2012 than 22 June 2011."?

We're running out of ways to say that McJersey and his bean counters are full of shit.

On a side note, nice job on the long term investigation that took down almost 50 members of six different gangs:
  • Forty-nine people are facing charges after three separate investigations on the West and South sides uncovered cash, drugs and in one instance, a weapon used in an assault against a police officer, authorities said today.

The multiple investigations targeted drug markets in the city’s Wentworth, Englewood and Harrison Districts, police said.
Now let's see Anita get these assholes some real prison time.

Civilian here. I for one am sick and tired of McCarthy and his minions telling the general populace of Chicago that crime is down. "The trend is actually turning. You would never know it, but the trend is actually turning.” Huh? What kind of double-talk is that? Define "trend" oh big throbbing brain. There are record numbers of people on the streets of Chicago that are winding up with more orifices in their bodies than they had when they left their abodes. I had a cop tell me last week that advances in medical science are a major contributing factor for the lower, relatively speaking, murder rate. In other words, the same wounds 20 years ago would have resulted in death. That makes sense unlike the unmitigated blather coming from police HQ. To the men and women of the CPD on the streets, thank you. To our esteemed pal, Garry M., please pack up your mustache comb and sunglasses and go back east.

We can only imagine that certain alderman and political officials must be absolutely furious over these drug busts.

Why?

CPD just removed $1.1 million dollars from the local economy in at least one case.

We can assume that the other two bust were of similar size.

How are these communities going to replace that lost economy? The corporations? HA! Is Motorola, Sears, The CME Group going to create jobs with their tax break money for these people? Pffffft

Not trying to promote illegal activity but there are unintended consequences here and in this economy...where are they going to find $1.1 million dollars to replace for each of these busts to keep the legit businesses going?

You know this is likely to effect campaign contributions if one follows the money trail more than one hop.

Secretly furious I tell ya.

illinois has just been named the most in debt state in the country with a pension obligation of 44 billion dollars--- we are worse than california and new jersey--- governor quinn " potato head " has stated vociferously in the media that the day of reckoning has come--- reckoning for what, decades of fiscal mismanagement by elected officials who kicked the can down the road and now have to face reality--- their answer is to balance the budget on the backs of the working men and women of this state--- the entitlements however continue to flow unabated, a raging inferno fed with piles of paper currency so easily given away--- this state is a federal disaster area and a haven for crooked politicians and their associates who steal and pillage with no repercussions--- badboyovitch was just the tip of the iceberg....

Thomson is still sitting out here empty. No money for that or to keep Dwight or Tamms open, but plenty for a train to the Quad-Cities and the Jesse Jackson Jr. Imaginary airport near Peotone. Quinn can't turn those felons/democrats loose fast enough before November. I see a lot of I-bonds, continuances, and probation sentences on these drug arrests. Politically, it works. Right Anita? Rahm? Gov Jello? Barry Sotero?

6/24/2012 12:59:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

But these are non-violent crimes so they'll be eligible for Gov. Quinn's early release program right?

On the other hand let's say that they all serve one year.

50 people sitting in the joint at a cost of about $150/day for 365 days == $2,737,500.

Who's gonna pay for that?

Not the corporations. The corporations need tax breaks because they create the jobs (hahahah).

If the middle class wants them locked up that's their problem according to the politicians and CEO's so tax the middle class to keep them in jail.

Only problem is that the middle class is tapped out.

So now add it up.

An estimated $3.3 million dollars in drug busts is taken out of Chicago's economy. Granted it's illicit money but nevertheless after it changes hands a few times it gets effectively laundered and shows up at legit businesses. New $500/pair gym shoes, $1,000 spinner rims, etc...Gone.

So that's $3.3 mil gone there and then tack on the cost of the jail time.

Who's pension is that money going to come out of? What healthcare and education cuts are we going to make to keep the thugs in jail. That's another $2 million dollars there.

I'm just sayin' they have things so f--ked up in this Sanctuary City we're screwed no matter what we do.

I have to wonder...are we getting more economic growth from the invisible NATO inspired tourist or from the illicit drug sales here?

What do you think?

If we shut down ALL the drug sales tomorrow would the Sanctuary City survive the economic shock?

Time to just GET OUT.

The Ponzi pyramid scam is over.

Yes, narcotics are a big part of the economy in the U.S. and the reason there is so much profit is because there is risk. If you could import and sell cocain like sugar or coffee the reward would be less.
A bust here and there keeps the profit margin healthy.

The violent crime trend was going UP, and now its turning upward EVEN MORE, that is, it's increasing at an exponential rate. That is the natural rate of increase in the wild and in nature; remember, e= 2.71828

I've seen three felony DUI (conviction of at least two prior DUIs) offenders that I've put away in the past year, that were all given sentences of three years or more all back on the street with 3 months of hitting IDOC. Prison terms in Illinois are jokes. A litte known secret is that IDOC has the authority to release any inmate after 60 days, no matter the length of the sentence or what he was convicted of.

Can we cut this black community crap! Who is the black community and matter of fact who belongs to it? I've been black for going on awhile now and guess what...I know its bs. "The black community" is the connected and known community leaders/ clergy that "represent" the poor and impoverished population of black Chicago. You don't see nearly as many working class, get up and grind it out black people standing in front of the camera with Jesse and his boys because THEY HAVE TO GO TO WORK!!! Stop lumping us in with them. Don't you hate getting lumped in with people that don't represent you? I'm from the south side, I like Harold's Chicken, went to CPS, lean more to the right on social issues, and don't care for Obama or Romney as the next leader..we are not all the same and yes I live in the hood with my wife, two children, I render salutes to old veterans, and I almost cry when TAPS plays. Half of yall would probably still call me ghetto. Cut all that black community crap out.Jesse just marched on Chuck's Gun Shop again. Anyone see the black guy on the bullhorn protesting Jesse and supporting Chuck's? That wasn't me lol just saying stop painting us with this broad brush.
