Cop Injured
Minor injuries only, but it made the papers:
A motorcyclist fled the scene after running into the Chicago Police officer who pulled him over for causing a disturbance at the Museum Campus late last night on the Near South Side.
The female officer was not badly hurt and has been released as of this morning from Northwestern Memorial Hospital, authorities said.
It was about 11:30 p.m. when the officer tried to stop a man on a motorcycle who was wanted for causing a disturbance with a park security officer in the 700 block of East Solidarity Drive between the Adler Planetarium and Soldier Field...
Some comments suggest that this offender was part of a group of bikers who meet near the museum campus prior to setting up illegal races up and down the drive.
Best wishes to the officer.

Offender is a crazy Polish asshole with no regard whatsoever. He easily could have gone around her, but instead took aim and gunned it at her. Too bad the asshole didn't go skipping off the asphalt as he sped away at 120+ mph. You'll get yours jag off!
Museum campus is going to shit. They tagged the memorial and then an officer is struck by a motorcyclist who then fled and led CPD and state police on a chase. Yet the douche bag Lt. refuses to put 2 po's on the park car and keeps denying people time off while he takes a whole week off to blow his money at the casino by his lonely fat ass. Oh, but the desk is to capacity. Most of the 3rd watch cars are normally 10-99 in 001 but most midnight cars are 10-4... Any logic there? Oh yeah, and they keep downing the park car due to "man power" issues, even on the weekends. so as you can see, nothing is being done to protect the Memorial.
It is time for 001 to put an end to the bike racing crowd that gather every weekend by Soldiers Field and the Museum Campus and show off.
I have no doubt that stolen bikes are present, incorrect driver licenses, no city stickers, reefer, alcohol, etc. Good reasons for a crackdown!
Best wishes as well for a full recovery.
When motorcycles are outlawed only outlaws will have motorcycles. We need motorcycle control now.

Back in the day if you had A problem with drag racing on your beat you would open all the fire hydrants in the area of the racing. The racers just went elsewhere. Before the end of the tour or after they left, you shut off the hydrants.
Simple solution. No one got hurt. Speed bumps and cameras were not needed. Just too low tech?
At one time federal money funded the park car and it was to be up and running at all times. I guess the money dried up. This certainly is a reason to bring back the park police.
i hope this isn't the end of this. we need to go after him and prove this will not be tolerated. fuck this jagoff. get better officer.
Why not let them race odds are some will crash
Take care officer and get well soon. Seems too dangerous for a lone officer to be out there . We need to hire police.
Thank you to the dept chaplain (Fr. Dan or Fr. Dean?) who showed up at Northwestern at 12:30 a.m. It was cool to pray with my co-worker and the other coppers in the E.R.--and even the dicks and the nurses. Nicely done. Thanks for being there.
