That time of year where the opportunistic souls bring in all sorts of damaged, outdated and non-functional firearms to Chicago churches. Then they take the Visa gift cards and head over to the local gun store to purchase ammunition and functional guns with taxpayer funds.

I brought in a bunch bb guns and got visa cards before. As I was leaving the station the guy from kentucky brought up about 20 rusted Old rifles from I don't know when.

I worked as a Safety Officer two years ago at a Weapons Turn In and they had a lot of firearms that were in good working order and were of good value. Its a good program.
This is a fine opportunity to upgrade your collection of firearm courtesy of liberal idiots and the tax dollars they piss away.

Gun control is a means by which to control productive, law-abiding citizens. You'll never witness The Animal or other run-of-the-mill hoods lawfully obtaining firearms at a gun show, or at a sporting goods store, etc. Ghetto savages have alternative means of procuring firearms--stealing, black market; so forth. It's too bad Chicago can't cordon them all into "Hamsterdam"-style blocks (for those who've seen HBO's THE WIRE, permitting them the freedom to eradicate themselves permanently.

The retired PO next door purchased 13 useless and rusted out revolvers in a Kentucky gun show for $70 and had his wife bring them in for the money.
He now has $1300 minus $70= $1230 profit. My favorite part of the story... He's buying and AR-15 with city money!!!!

During one of the first turn in's in the early nineties I turned in a junk Jennings 25. Got gift certificates for foot locker and got my kids some new gym shoes.
Progressives, aka Liberals, completely believe that their "intelligence" is beyond reproach and infallible.
I once, too, was a college student, a newly graduated recruit to the progressive ideals (like 20 years ago).
What messed me up was logic and a shit load of "questions" about what was fed to me. Questions like "well, being that we have the technology, how are we supposed to eliminate firearms? It's kind of like the a-bomb. Ain't no goin' back, my friends." My questions were not met with answers, but with disdain.
In all honesty, I'm probably a Libertarian, though, right now, the only party that I can really support is the "Cocktail Party."
I tried starting the "Common Sense Party", but people got mad about my "horse sense".
Side Note: I now have to be wary of my equitation activities because, gasp, I love dressage and partake in the "elite" horse industry, though it keeps us pretty broke. Somehow, this has become a sport that only "Republicans" do. But please google Bruce Springsteen, Todd Minikus and Pavarotti (the horse).

I've turned in SEVERAL replica firearms (Non-guns. Never been guns. Not possible to convert to firearms) and happily walked away with $100 gift cards that were used to buy new, working firearms & ammunition.
ONE safety officer at ONE location turned me away, telling me that it wasn't a real gun, so I walked out with the thing fully exposed. The copper started beefing at me, so I asked him what he was going to do; he'd just told me it wasn't real. He muttered something and I turned the replica in at another location.
It's a GREAT program-for people like me!
