And ANOTHER Police Shooting?

The increase of the increase (or something) continues:
  • Fraternal Order of Police Spokesman Pat Camden said an Area South Gang Team responded to a 911 call that gave a "detailed description" of someone standing on the corner of 77th Street and Wolcott Avenue holding a gun.

A police department source said the teen was among a group of people standing near the corner of 77th Street and Wolcott Avenue when officers approached and the teen took off running.

“Gangs South responded and there’s about 10 people on the corner, there’s a makeshift memorial there for someone who got shot god knows when, and they see a guy matching the description perfectly of the 911 call," Camden said.

That Camdem is worth his weight in oranges. Easily the best money FOP has spent in years.

Good job by the officers, too.

Stay tuned all you Shields naysayers. Plenty more in the pipeline. Remember - a poker player never shows his hand. Rip on the prez all you want, but I tell you this is the best we've had in decades. And that's as far as I can tip my hand right now.

What's so goddamned hard about that for them to do it AND DO IT CONSISTENTLY EVERY TIME these situations arise. WTF?! seriously

On Camden and oranges -- worth his weight in many ways, but maybe not in the best way for the public. His little releases get out ahead of what the investigators want released. They seem intended to represent the officer in the best possible light, but from Camden's history, we know (Weems) it doesn't always turn out to be the case. The department doesn't have a shadow spokesman in most investigations and does need one in officer-involved shootings. The information pipeline to FOP ought to be shut down, and there should be some way of imposing discipline on causing this information to be released. If it's not well-enough addressed in the contract, the contract ought to be changed: Information gets shared as a part of the board of rights process and for no other purpose.

Yeah, Camden, "he was trying to defeat the arrest," and then the CTA surveillance video comes out and shows Weems putting the weapon to the suspect's head and executing him. That was so great for everyone's credibility. Thanks, Pat. We remember.

This started with "every kid gets a trophy". Everybody deserves what you have no matter if they work for it or deserve it.

This agenda was furthered by greedy lawyers that try anything, legal or not, to get their clients off or win big settlements for questionable (nonsense) damages. There are no penalties for lawyers that suborn perjury, present false evidence and push trials when they know their clients are guilty. Hey guess what. That's not the way it is supposed to work.

When is the last time you saw a lawyer prosecuted, fined or imprisoned? NEVER! What, we have no crocked lawyers out there? These lawyers become politicians and judges. There you have the "Chicago way". Chicago is a cancer in this Country.

You mean the guy wasn't wearing the ghetto uniform of "white t-shirt and jeans" and they just chased the rabbit when he took off?

Camden's got plenty of experience as police spokesman. I'm curious as to why the FOP needs a spokesman and the Supernintendo can't give the same story? This isn't a political issue so he should have Rahm's blessing to state the facts to the press and be done with it. These cops were doing their job and as their boss he should be speaking for them.

So the money the FOP spent suing former VP s, lawyers and secretaries, checks to law firms for more than $300,000 ... that wasn't the "Best" money? $500 hotel rooms for Board Members at DC memorial, when families are doubling and tripling in $200 rooms ... that wasn't the "Best" money? These pieces of trash are all over Lincoln Park now just looking for an excuse to attack someone. I've seen the attitude four times up close this summer, three times directed towards me but I pretended to not notice that I was in their cross hairs and somehow escaped without incident/injury, don't ask me how. and all I did was look at them to assess if they were gang bangers. it makes your blood run cold to walk right past them not knowing if you're going to get a knife stuck in your side like this prosecutor did. I have zero respect for a mayor that lets this continue to happen to citizens here by not providing more Chicago Police protection. I feel like we citizens have been thrown to the wolves by him. I'll not vote for him next election, and I will make sure as many people as possible hear from me why not.

Um, moron, it doesn't make a difference that he was working for the city at the time. His credibility is tarnished for all time no matter who he speaks for now, and him speaking for cops makes it even worse because his comments are from the union perspective. So every little story that appears in the paper with all the pro-cop version of the events, coming from him, immediately raises doubt. 99% of these are righteous shootings but when you trot Pat out there, you send the wrong signal.

We most surely do because without him the only story that is told after a police shooting is that of the shithead and/or his/her family telling how the poleese tried to assinate poor little cuz.

He is worth his weight in golden press releases. He gets our officer's story out there quickly and has name recognition after doing the same for the City and CPD for many years.

The Cozzi incident involved an officer who got hands on with an individual handcuffed to a wheelchair. On video. It wasn't near as bad as it looked and the guy had some street justice coming.

The travesty was that Cozzi took a conviction at the state level, served out his punishment and then was prosecuted again for the same crime and went to federal prison. Punished and convicted twice for the same thing.

There will always be excuses not to do your job. Just pick one.
