Chalkie Returns

With a vengeance evidently:
  • A man was killed on the Far South Side and another person killed on the West Side in shootings Friday night and Saturday morning, according to police.

Five others, including a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, were shot on the South and West sides.

Combined with the police shooting (see below), Friday definitely started with a bang. And ABC is still in town filming? Oh boy.

CHICAGO ALDERMAN COWER INSIDE THEIR HOMES -- CURLED UP IN A FETAL POSITION FEARING THE GANG VIOLENCE

Timing is everything isn't it?

Diane Sawyer comes to town with her cameras and this morning we have this:

Chicago’s violence hits home for some aldermen; ‘I’m afraid of dying,’

The stories of ten Chicago alderman fearing for their lives all of a sudden.

(Guess we'll have to assign them a security detail like ald. Burk eh?)

Anyways, details of shootings, of "the children" next door designed to win the hearts and minds of the public.

Well they must fear Rahm Emanual and the ol' Daley political machine more than the gang bangers. We haven't heard a peep out of any of them until Diane Sawyers cameras rolled into town...isn't that amazing...and how long have we been dealing with this??

Yeah. Looks like a good photo op to me. Break out the alligator tears as they all play it up for the cameras.

"....Ald. Sandi Jackson (7th), whose South Side ward includes an area known as “Terror Town,” says she always double-checks to make sure no one with a gun is lurking before she backs into her own driveway.

In Austin, Ald. Emma Mitts (37th) says she tries not to let fear get the best of her but knows that’s hard for her mother, who lives with her. So she hurries to get home before the streetlights come on at night to keep her mother from worrying.

In Roseland, Austin remembers how things were when she moved in 40 years ago. There was a certain snobbish neighborhood pride among people living in the middle-class community then. Today, some people call the area the “Wild Hundreds,” referring to its street addresses but also to the crime and violence that the splintered and warring gang factions have brought with them.

“I don’t really want to say this, but now I’m frightened,” says Austin, who lives within a couple of blocks of where three murders and one other shooting took place in the period the Sun-Times analysis covered. “Now, I’m afraid of dying.”

People sometimes ask her, as aldermen, to reassure them that steps are being taken and that things will get better. “How do I tell them, ‘Don’t worry, it’s gonna get better,’ ” Austin says. “I don’t have no solution to tell them it’s gonna get better.”

‘I don’t live in a bubble’

From her front stoop, Ald. Toni Foulkes (15th) points to landmarks from her childhood. On that

sidewalk she learned to ride a two-wheeler.

Under the street lamp she and her friends used to stretch a net across the street to play volleyball at 2 in the morning.

And the house next door, where a renter’s son shot the landlord five times, killing him, while Foulkes, then a teenager, was barbecuing chicken in her backyard.

Since June 2011, there have been two murders and 11 shootings all within a couple of blocks of the brick two-flat that has been Foulkes’ home for 41 years.

She doesn’t talk about being fearful. But the violence has affected her. “I’m just always cautious,” she says. “More cautious than most people.”

-----------

Hah! Yeah as a child we use to put up a volley ball net up AT 2 AM IN THE MORNING. WTF?

Check out the entire piece. Priceless.

Yep, 20% of Chicago Alderman in fear of the violence. Ten out of fifty and there's likely more that are even afraid to say anything that may bring down the scorn of the mayor -- don't know what to do because Rahm hasn't told them what to do.

That's our neighborhood leaders.

That's World-Class baby!!

Soon we'll see the follow up story.

"Snitches Get Stitches"

As that SuperPac corporate campaign fundraiser money buys the advertising to put these people that dare to speak out, out of a job come election time.

PRO TIP:

When and where ever possible always use "the children" as a tool in your political campaigns.

How can you use "the children"? How can you win the hearts and minds of the voters by creating an action that doesn't cost anything and yet demonstrates that you're all about "the children"?

Welp, how about calling for a school zone speed trap camera action with technical specifications that you know your vendors can not deliver on!

It's brilliant!!

See, I wanted to install these speed trap cameras to save "the children" but THEY couldn't do it. So poor me. Cry for the victim. ME. I tried. I really, really tried. HAH!

Not only do you get the sympathy for "the children" and being "the victim" You keep the press busy following some bullshit that you know is never going to happen.

Meanwhile you can put $55 million dollars towards a memorial park in the green zone! Construct bike paths
at $140K per mile.

Best part of all is when the teachers go on strike you have that school zone speed trap stuff to point at showing that you're all about the children.

WHY BARACK OBAMA SHOULD RESIGN.

"When taking office, the President does not swear to create jobs. He does not swear to “grow the economy.” He does not swear to institute “fairness.” The only oath the President takes is this one:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

By sending — literally — brownshirted enforcers to engage in — literally — a midnight knock at the door of a man for the non-crime of embarrassing the President of the United States and his administration, President Obama violated that oath. "

of course, if law enforcement would refuse to enforce unconstitutional laws, there would be no need for anyone to concern themselves about the legality of self defense, by the most effective means available.

though, in the end, it's almost all the same to me.

Emanuel isn't very far in the background at all.

It seems that the director of the Illinois chapter is married to a contributor of his...this guy is also close to the Obamas.

Please look up the novel "Small Gods" by Terry Pratchett. Chalkie would be a "small god" with enormous influence.

I have friends in Chicago who are liberals. I am a liberal. I would abandon that hellhole so fast it would make your neck break. I live in a liberal state where the gun laws are liberal. I make that statement deliberately; gun laws should be liberal. Look up what Madison and Jefferson had to say about guns. That is the true liberal way. The Illinois gun laws are truly GARBAGE. I lived there until I was 21. My mother lived there until she was 82. We paid very little attention to those laws, but she lived in southern Illinois, where the culture is different and the cops did not dare enforce the law, or care to.
