Horses Attacked

We guess J-Fled's "station security" evaluation didn't include the stables.

Second, is this place unattended overnight? Or evenings? Or what?

Third, what sort of animals treat horses like this?
  • Two horses belonging to the Chicago Police were injured when someone broke into a stable kept by the department's Mounted Unit on the grounds of the South Shore Cultural Center, authorities said.

Officers assigned to the unit returned to the stable around 11:15 p.m. Sunday and found that the two horses and 13 others had been let out of their stalls, police said. Tissue paper was strewn inside the stable and outside.

A horse named J.R. suffered chemical burns to the face after being sprayed with a fire extinguisher, and a horse named Schott was cut on the back of its right let and suffered another injury to its left hoof, police said. No other details were available on their condition.
The assholes who did this need to be made to shovel out the stables for a few years to start. Then let the horses have them for a few hours of kicking. Assholes.

Some years ago when we assigned to that district for the night we drove through the cultural center to check it out. The mounted units vehicles were also stored there in a open lot. We found that all of the vehicles had been damaged. Broken windows and anything that could be pulled out from inside the vehicles was damaged and thrown about. We ended up checking the stables to ensure the horses were ok and they were.
Point is that this happened about 5 years ago and looks like nothing was put in place to address this problem. I hope we learn from this and address this issue finally. Speedy recovery to our 4 legged partners.

An animal rights organization like PETA wouldn't hurt an animal when their mission is to prevent cruel treatment. Groups like ALF wouldn't target a police stable where the animals are obviously cared for. They'd go after a site where they feel animals are treated inhumanely, like a test lab. Maybe you should go back to the academy for a refresher.

@9/18 9:38. About eleven years ago as one of the many summer music fests was exiting Grant Park, a call of 10-1 comes out on the bridge between Michigan and Columbus. The bridge was so packed with pedestrians, assistance from the Michigan side couldn't get through. Five horses took off at the run and it looked like roaches taking off when the lights turn on that's how fast the mutts cleared the bridge, leaving only stragglers and four or five P.O.s wrestling on the ground with the offenders.
