As with all tyrants:
- Alderman Carrie Austin was featured in the Sun-Times about two weeks ago saying that she wanted Louis Farikan's Fruit of Islam troops patrolling her ward.
Carrie Austin, Sandi Jackson, Toni Foulkes and the rest of the (fill-in-the-blanks) are responsible for McKnucklehead coming in and ruining this department and for letting manpower decline to levels which make us ineffective.
But they will get their "Box Missions" around their houses now so it will be all right.
Here is something from the fly on the wall from HQ. When an Alderman complains to McKnucklehead, as sometimes they do, about the low manpower what happens. McKnucklehead call the District Commander and slams them for letting on that there is a manpower problem.

Someone should compare the "box missions" to the addresses of these aldermen. Might make a nice article.
I work the desk, and when ever they call the desk complaining about crime, drug sales, gangbangers, I just tell them we are short handed and probably won't answer your call. Then I tell them that if they are unhappy about this they should complain to their alderman.
I was at an event in my neighborhood over the weekend and even they (the tax paying civilians) were talking about spreading the police so thin and that more need to be hired. Guess the powers that be downtown aren't doing such a good job pulling the wool over Mr & Ms citizens eyes after all.
money for cameras, hotels, parks, and phoney cease fire. the news media wont tell the truth. the citizens are afraid to speak, and the aldermen do as they are told. the choice is leave or deal with it. rahm is busy making sure potus is reelected, thats what matters most to him.
just wait until periods 6-9 of 2013--- it will be worse than this year--- the xo's have ordered a pair of hands to be painted on the floor in front of their desks--- you will have to enter their office and place yourself in the push up position and beg to have a day off....

Huh? What? The 90's? You mean the times when we had police officers? Academy turning out 140(+/-) a month, every month? Sector Cars, Beat Cars, 2 to 3 waggons a Dist, full Tact Teams, SKIP Teams, 06 Teams, hospital car, Det's, Sgts, Lt's... You mean THOSE '90's?

Talk to the Coppers that Suied to get on from the '91 test. Same thing happend back then.

I tell the citizens all day long when they complain that the police took too long to show up or not at all that the blame lies with the politicians and not the police because we are way too shorthanded, that we just don't have the manpower. The great majority understand.
As for Time Due, why is it that only the officers working the watches in patrol can't get Time Due? I know a lot of people in units and they all tell me they have no problem getting time off.
So all you P/Os from patrol working your days off, keep helping the department while the department shits on you.
The city will do anything to keep white male applicants from being hired. The city tries to get rid of the male white applicant at every step of the hiring process. This is done to increase minority chances of getting hired. The city will bend over backwards to hire a minority candidate and then disqualify any male white candidate for the slightest thing. Maybe this should be looked into, but won't.

CPD is a ghost ship. If you love your kid, tell him to sign on elsewhere or go federal.
Whatever prestige there is in CPD has been intentionally stripped away.
Tell him and his friends for the sake of their quality of life...

The city used to have a policy that would allow officer that resigned as long as you left in good standing to be re-employed. You would lose your senority but be rehired. I brought this to the ditector of HR Ladner and she promptly had the policy changed snd told me to reapply. From the FOP I'm not the only person looking to user this policy but the city wil not budge. I'm only one person but I would be another officer and warm body on the street.

Same thing happened to me back in 2006. After failing I went and got hired for a big city pd on west coast, but at the end of the day I would still rather be in CHicago...no place like home.
I knew 8 male whites who also "failed" the pysch test...all were between the ages of 22-25 and 5 had college degrees and 3 had military experience. 5 got hired on by other pd's, 2 went back in the service, and 1 is working in the corporate world.
I did have one white friend who passed, male white with a degree and also a military veteran. I also had 5 friends that were either black or hispanic and all of them were hired...Guess thats just life. Everything is about race and what the city is looking for this time around. Its really unfortunate because race shouldnt be a factor, the best people should get hired regardless of what race they are!! Last time I checked there are some outstanding cops from all walks of life...
what is the city going to do when all the federal money is gone? all the federal money to supply this violence reduction is to only pass the illusion there's enough police on the street. so the city is only posturing until the election is over? i am curious to see what else they're willing to do. obama still loses election and rahmie you will be next, ha.
just curious how many aldermen are allowed to carry, or have police protection. do they also have to participate in the wellness program? do any of their children benefit from asm? how many hrs a week do they work? whats worse the slap by po corsi, or a mayor who allows teens to get killed, because he is inept?

NATIONAL FOP and all other police unions and affiliates should petition our congressmen and be working on not just our medical issues and pension problems nationally but attempts to grant police /peace officers some sort of immunity (like a judge) and indemnify police action in the course of our duties!
Someone needs to pick up the ball and carry it and make a POLITICAL AGENDA!
While they are at it indemnify the Firefighters too.
Then we can all work with the proper PEACE OF MIND it takes to show up, and execute this job for the good of society.
Not aiming to create POLICE MONSTERS that can do ill will but to create the essential work environment suitable for police to handle the issues and bullshit we face daily in confidence!
Save us now from "hesitation" and "indecision" and "worry" as these issues now factor in our reactions and can slow us down which can kill or injure us and keep us free from civil recourse from the basic bullshit beefs that can ruin our families and our kids futures with punitive damages.
Maybe there is a way to scrutinize this in congress and break it down so its not too lobsided.
I'm not saying give us complete immunity but work with us here!!!
It may bring police work back somewhat and make this town and this country safe again!

Maybe there is some underlying truth to this or some avenues that can be taken by SOMEONE to address these issues so to petition Congress to grant such immunity.
If a judge is "the king of the court" and is immune to civil recourse for his/her decisions upon interpreting laws and applying sanction.....
Then why aren't the police or "the knights of the court" that represent "the king" within their community when enforcing these rules and laws for peace in society, not immune from civil recourse in making such decisions in good faith while in the course of their duty?
Not to make the police a "monster" is right but to maybe help them get their confidence back so they can confidently perform their jobs with peace of mind!
Time to step into the 21st century with this Constitution as our society has spiraled out of hand and we are quick to punish those sworn and expected to defend us in our society from evil when the lawsuits fly!

Nothing new..they did it 15-20 years ago too! 1993-1997 had a big hiring push. I know a guy who was failed..so he went to a suburb and was hired. The funny thing was..the suburb was "light years" ahead of CPD in the screening processes used. He passed multiple (real) psych tests, as well as polygraph exams. CPD is and always has been a joke, when it comes to hiring and promotions!

This is not a new trick. They pulled that crap in the early nineties.
Immunity for police will never happen. You can thank Jon Burge, Anthony Abbate, and others for that. No politician would even suggest it, as that would be political suicide.

The other "trick" they (Director TL) is pulling is pulling "questionable" applicants and putting them on a pile to have a "hearing". But she never has the hearing, there is nothing written in place to have a hearing, no hearing officers, no chance for the applicant to present their case or even know what is being alleged. He thinking is that as long as she doesn't officially reject the applicant they have no recourse. They weren't wronged in her eyes. So she's stockpiling white educated and/or military applicants. And as each class goes in, they get passed up once again.
If you get rejected ask for a hearing. Director Ladner has created her own hearing office and made herself the hearing officer and sole authority to grant your appeal or not. Most m/1's with a questionable file are given a rejection letter most m/2's never get the official rejection and therefore can not request a hearing

there is no age discrimination when a department sets age requirements to hire or retire. Happens all the time, here on CPD, pilots, etc
