500?

  • Chicago on Wednesday logged its 500th homicide of the year—the first time the city has reached that threshold since 2008, according to a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data.

A man was shot to death Wednesday in an alley east of California Avenue and south of 54th Street, the Tribune reported.

Chicago homicides are up 15 percent this year compared to the same period last year, according to RedEye data. Homicides were up 60 percent in March compared to 2011 but the rate has slowed since then.
Here's what McDoofus is hanging his hat on though:
  • Eighteen homicides have been logged so far this month; 37 homicides were logged in December 2011, RedEye data shows.
The "official" Department count has us stuck at 498 or 499. For some reason it's always been just below the RedEye tracker this year, so we can only assume something got reclassified somewhere.

Anyone know where the discrepancy is at? Or what? Because there was another website counting that had us at 526 or so, but they included police shootings and possibly vehicular homicides, too from what we heard.

We will never know the true count. But if it ends up at 503-505 it won't make a difference. But for all the sheepeople............ There was a decrease in the increase form last december so it is ok.

I predicted in September we would end at 507. Looks good. Now lets hire more police officers and get the number down.

Woo-hoo, big shout out to Rahm, Gary and all the Chicago Sanctuary City aldermen.

Without them this great milestone would of not been accomplished.

/sarcasm

To put the homicide rate into context (homicides per 100,000 people)

whereas it can be compared to other locations, Chicago with a population of about 2.7 million people and 500 homicides puts us at 18.5 homicides per 100,000 people

Then we can multiply that number (18.5) by about 5 to determine the number of people shot per 100,000 = 92

Nice job Chicago

WE'RE NUMBER ONE -- WE'RE NUMBER ONE...

Let's face it,

McDoofus is taking credit for what all the fine doctors, nurses, EMS and ER staff have accomplished.

You want to take sole credit for something Gary? How's that homicide closure rate looking?

What's not to understand? Homicides were up 60% but now they're only up 15% so it's obvious we reduced the homicide rate by 45%. It's plain and simple mathmatics. This is the type of math that every democRat in Congress understands. I think we all desrve another ribbon.

Again, the “Homicide” numbers is just another smoke screen. You want a true number, something that reflects what TRUE CRIME is, and what’s going on in Chicago? What’s the TOTAL NUMBER? What’s the number of Homicides and Agg Batt Handun & Other Dangerous Weapon? THAT’S the number I want!

Les face it, the only real difference between a Homicide and an AGG BATT is a real good E.R. Doctor and staff.

There are many death investigations that are pending lab results that the ME sends out. Some times it takes weeks to get results back. 015 is waiting on 2 at this time. This will count for 2012. By February 1st the total for 2012 will be over 510.

Mc Jackass made the mistake of thinking he could turn our Department into NYPD. You want crime to go down citizens -demand the city hire more cops and let "US" the police, clean up the shitheads on the streets without trying to stick it to us. No CR number or lawsuit for trying to clean up our once sacred city. Bottom line -- you can't have it both ways. Give us our balls back--

If RedEye is tracking it, I imagine that a lot of people are reading about it and are concerned. Since it's free, RedEye is generally for news boneheads.
As non-CPD, it seems that more people than you guys might imagine are concerned with your numbers. High levels of crime has hit most of the neighborhoods. While we have a love/hate relationship with you, we'd generally prefer the safety of having you around.

The main difference between CompStat here and New York is that N.Y.P.D. has the manpower to implement any type of strategy.
Here, we can't get by with day-to-day operations because of shortages.
Whatever the plan, it takes the man.

You are never going to see a superintendant that can or will do that. Plus nowdays I bet half the CPD doesnt even want to police, they just want to go and collect their paychecks
As far as the lawsuits, the supt has no control and what is he going to do, tell the courts that you cannot accept a lawsuit against one of my men and that the public will not be allowed to sue or file a lawsuit against the police

Sorry, pal, but you need to move on out of the 80's. Until people register to vote and remove the corrupt judges and politicians from office and DEMAND the changes that you are proposing, the police will forever be the "tool" that will be kept in the toolbox.

Ghetto-dwelling citizens don't WANT the police "to clean up the shitheads on the streets." After all, that's their daddies, play uncles, friends, neighbors and chilrun that would be getting their heads thumped by the big, bad Poleeces.

Get with the program. Make as many criminal reports as possible. Without those, Tiny Dancer and McWhatCrimeIncease? can continue to say that crime rates are falling and there is no NEED to hire more officers.

As it is, we are all part of Obama's socialist agenda. As the gangbangers get obliterated by the police, their remaining heirs sue the government and get funded the same as if they were on welfare. If they choose to kill each other, so be it. Make sure that YOU and our brothers go home safe. Protect yourselves and just clear away society's garbage as they continue to pile up the bodies of rival gang members. The 'innocents' caught up in the violence are collateral damage of the disintegration and failure of the family structure of the ghetto dwellers and the revruns who are unwilling or unable to shepherd their "flock." They ARE NOT the failure of the police, the government or society.

It's serendipity.

Come on, anyone who ever set foot in a CPS school knows 60% is 200% of 15%

So the increase is decreasing by 200%

Never in the course of human events have homicides been reduced by 200% and I congratulate Supt. McBoozebreath for the 200% decline

Well done!
