seems like someone already calculated the $ cost per person shot/e.r. visits......anyone have an idea as to the costs of guarding or watching gang funerals, i.e., number of cops x $ per hour salaries + number of gang funerals + trips to the cemetery + hourly expenses of flying the chopper...
Total anyone? I tried to add them up last week and came up with something like 466, but then another poster said 477, so I've lost track. Let's have a big party when we hit 499 with a pool for 500!
Can we count the ones who have had part of their brains removed and who will be vegetables for the rest of their lives....starting at 14 or 16 years of age or so? Does brain-dead count? It should, because you know their demise will be shorter than their normal life expectancy. Does anyone count the ones who die months or a few years after their GSW, stabbing, or being clubbed in the noggin?
No one ever talks about PTSD afflicting police, firemen, or others in Chicago. Given the level of violence that's odd.

I know of one policeman shot with a .30 cal carbine who is alive today because he was shot a few blocks from the old Cook County Hospital. Thanks to CC Hospital he got to finish out his career, get promoted to detective and retire after 29 plus.

Try going in the medical for that... I'm sure you will be stripped and evaluated. Remember as police we are scapegoats and no one cares what happens to us.
I think the trauma hospitals are doing society an injustice in America keeping all these "wounded" thugs alive....so they can be a "stat" next week or in two months down the road.
Is the CFD to blame for getting them to the hospitals too quick?

But their response may be too good maybe because then the potential DOA laying on the street turns into a medical nightmare expenses wise to patching up dude for the 27th time he's come in shot or stabbed or beaten for free (no insurance).
Every district can tell stories of dude all shot up (head shots, chest, stomach) and these shitheads made it.
Now courtesy of life support sytems and all the technology and medical science the skilled expertise of ER staff and doctors these hospitals and their staff are saving the shitheads on OUR dime at ridiculous costs to everyone nationally!
