I work in a south side district where there are three particular beats where the beat car isn't allowed to leave their beat for anything but a 10-1, and then you have "mission cars" which are cars that don't have to take jobs, then you have cars who go hide all night and the bosses don't call them out, and then a couple cars who get run ragged all across the fucking district. It's pretty pathetic.

This is nothing new. The amount of manpower that is held down on hand funerals is ridiculous. The district Tac teams, district Beat cars, saturation teams, gang enforcement, and gang investigations have all been at the same funerals on numerous occasions. We're talking about 40-50 officers guarding these mopes for hours. There have even been instances where uniformed officers are assigned to stand outside the front door of the funeral home. Oh, and the helicopter for the procession.

22 has been doing escorts and details to mount hopeless for the better part of two years for the daily gang banger funerals. It's a mess down there.
An order came out from patrol about these funerals. If there is a murder in your district it is the DC responsibility to track the wake, funeral, re past,etc. Then notify the districts that may be affected by the funeral. Every gang funeral will be given a special attention at minimum.
Why is this the districts responsibility? Don't we have a gang enforcement and intelligence unit?

The phrase "Land Line" IS NOT used in any G.O.
All you are required to have is a "24 hour" telephone.
Your cell phone will suffice.

A HOME phone is what is required. That battle was fought, and settled, in IAD before 1996. Tell your partner to cut the cord. Lot of us already have.
bring ticket books and ticket every car with tinted windows , license plate covers , no city stickers .
These pieces of shit get as much or MORE police presence than a police officer or firefighter killed in the line of duty. It's despicable.

The DOC or Intelligence should track these funerals. Of course, if they gave it to Intelligence, it would mean that the PO's in that unit would actually have to do some work for a change.

This is nothing new.... We here in 193 (GIS) have been doing this for years.... Forced to down several teams to follow these shit heads from the make shift store front church's to the cemeteries.... It's funny because most of us don't give a shit if any these fuckers would get killed anyway...
But try asking for 1 car to escort a Policemen's funeral and it takes an act of Congress unless your on the "privileged list" (ex boss, exempt etc...).
